Why the Pacers Went ALL-IN For Pascal Siakam 

Defense siakam?

Pacers are absolutely garbage on defense. Outscoring people in the playoffs doesn't equal wins. This trade will do nothing as far as helping Indy's chances to win the chip. And if he walks at the end of the season the Pacers just wasted 3 1st round picks.

@@roboninja3194pacers defense had increased immensely when they put Jalen smith into the starting lineup and instantly went on a 6 game win streak if siakam can be as good on defense if not better than Jalen ur defense is middle of pack which is good enough to make some noise which the pacers are looking to do

It hurts, but both of the big trades Toronto made should be win-win deals. RJ and Quickley already look really good in Toronto, while the Knicks are 6-2 with OG and he's transformed their defense. Meanwhile, Masai has hit on low firsts before (see Pascal and OG), so those Pacer 1sts can be used to add, at worst, good role players, while Pascal should fill all the holes that Indy has. Not even to mention the fact they can get even more picks for Bruce Brown and GTJ. Toronto probably could've done better if they did this a year ago, but they're on the right path.

@@MrRapmaster19 Why do people keep bringing that up? Masai also drafted Bruno Caboclo, and plenty of benchwarmers. Sure, Pascal and OG turned out ok, but odds are pretty good that a low first rounder will be a dud. The Raps aren't in need of more mid-range role players. They need top end talent, because like it or not Scottie simply isn't good enough to carry a team to a title.

Still think the Raptors got shafted because they waited a year longer than they should’ve. Raptors fans who aren’t casual seem to not like it, but they got the best they probably could’ve considering how Masai likes to tank a player’s value before trading.

@@J10005 Quickley and Barrett are giant MAYBEs in exchange for OG. Adding them made us better because we finally have DEPTH and our bench can now do something besides stand around getting scored on..... but OG was one of our BEST players, an elite 3-and-D guy we just handed to a conference rival. Giving away two of our best players for a couple rotation guys and a few benchwarmers means we're less likely to lose to BAD teams, but we absolutely positively do NOT have the talent to compete with anyone in the top four in the East. Fanbois can say what they want. The Raps are not a better team than they were a month ago.

When teams stagnate/start to get bad they trade their eatsblished stars rolling the dice on these maybes banking on their potential. From the looks of it the last 3 weeks it is paying off very well. I like OG a lot but he's gonna ask for a major bag worth at least 30 million minimum something that would have been very hard to afford especially if we kept Siakam as well. I would have tried to get a young player like Walker if Mathurin was untouchable but 3 draft picks is an alright haul for Siakam who's gonna ask for a big 5 year pay raise and who is entering his 30s

I think if you look at other teams in the east I’m pretty sure if things work out this year pacers can be a top 3 team in the east. If Siakam meshes well with the squad I would say pacers can be a top 3 team in the east. Only bucks and Celtics and maybe heat are better talent wise.

raps got fleeced, at least for OG we got decent players back, these picks are trash and bruce brown wont do shit for the raps.

If Spicy P still plays well they can still make adjustments. I do think it's important to give Hali the chance to play with another star player and really try to win some meaningful games in the playoffs. Playing those games really help the growth of a player

Siakam's best asset is his athleticism and speed when aggressively driving for +1 layups against strong defenses. As much as I like him I think he's gonna start fading soon.

Masai has just as many draft misses as draft hits. Besides, the pick they gave up for Poeltl is now MUCH more valuable than any of the picks they got for Siakam.

Pacers wouldn't have traded those guy's. They want to keep all their rotation players together also. Which is exactly why I was initially against it. Unless it was mainly for Bruce Brown and either Nwora or possibly a Jackson. Smith plays C/PF, Jackson will be mostly on the bench. Obi will play backup PF and SF some with Nesmith. Walker is playing with the Mad Ants this year and will mostly play with the G-League like he has to develop. That will change for sure by next season. As I'd expect to see him get plenty minutes at backup PF then. It makes all the sense in the world for them to keep them. Because they're so young. Can resign them and they've already built such an amazing chemistry with eachother. Now we will be feeling this new roster around Siakam out. Then we will know where to go from there moving forward. I understand why you would want them though. But the Pacers wouldn't have done it. I honestly love Pritchard. He makes moves exactly how I would in trades. When it comes to moving pieces. If I was to make that particular trade. It wouldn't have made any sense for us if we'd traded our rotation guy's. Shooting ourselves in the foot with that and I'd rather just waited and signed guy's in FA.

Latest info says the three picks are two 2024 picks and one 2026, so it's actually less risky (the farther the picks go into the future, the more risky it is). I think it's a solid trade for both sides.

If you look at the past decade like 60% of the players drafted 11-30 are out of the league. Top 10 players are pretty major outliers it's lucky to even get a decent role player outside of the Lottery

@@OK-yy6qz more like 40%, which is about the same as 1-10. look at the 2020 draft, just 4 years later and half the top 10 are clinging on by a thread. not coincidentally the Pistons have two of those players. meanwhile the 4th best player in the draft was taken with the 30th pick.

The chances of hitting on a pick, decreases the lower you go in the draft. So it's like shooting a mid range compared to a 3, iz just math my dude, the higher the picks are always worth more

@@xavirik4828 in theory. in reality every pick is a complete gamble because college is watered down, the G League is a joke and Euroleague scouting is hit and miss. we really have no idea how good these guys are until they play an actual game in the NBA. I'd rather have three 15-30 picks than a top 5 pick. It's like bingo, you just want as many numbers in the tumbler as possible, doesn't really matter what the number is.

There is a team option in his contract, meaning if this season ends he would be a free agent if the raptors choose to let him go. To me as of now Bruce Brown is like only worth like 10-12 million due to his shooting

You and I are thinking this similar thought. Zach could potentially get the Chris Webber special. Webs was traded to Sacramento years ago when the Kings were a porous team at the time. The Maloofs were new GMS. So they took some very calculated decisions to help get the franchise moving in a serious direction towards becoming a playoff team. Like acquiring Vlade Divac, Doug Christie, Mike Bibby, and other players. Charlotte and the Pistons really have an opportunity to make some very calculated moves to help turn their franchise around for the future. Acquiring a Zach LaVine talent could help either team push either of them in the direction toward becoming a playoff team for the future.

P struggled all his career to hit 30% 3points, i wouldnt want Siakam to be the guy to take the last shot. hes not a really good shooter dude.

They dont really have much options nothing they can do in the middle of the season Pascal was the best option for them and the off season they dont really have much room trading unless they blow up the roster or do a rebuild best they can do in order to keep Curry is to blow up the rest of the roster keep Kuminga, then sign Derozan and Val then hope Kuminga breaks out next season with more PT. Then sign some role players who can play D like DeAnthony Melton, Saddiq bey or Royce O'neale. Derozan is a good iso scorer and a great passer gives Curry more oppurtunities to score off ball its like having a more skilled livingston and more skilled Bogut in Val.

Im a Spurs fan, but its hard to see Trae as major piece in any team that makes to the finals or wins the tittle.

He ain't worth trading for, just stick with the PG you have
