Wise words, more people should watch this. I can relate, I used to be doubted a lot growing up by friends and family and I have to admit that really pushed me to be who I am today. Don't get me wrong i'm nowhere near where I want to be but so far it has been a fun ride proving them wrong.

This one hit me hard brotha. I’m doing 1100% more than I did in business from last year. I won’t stop. My old boss told me. There’s no way you can paint for 52 weekends a year. We would make from 2-14k a weekend, in profit. And I found a way. Your content has changed my life. Thank you

I agree it's something about "that edge" that motivates you more. Not sure why humans tend to cling to the negative more than the positive, but truly it helps take things to the next level if you channel your haters

Yes you are right i stopped doing my workouts and taking care of myself. Until i met someone that told me that i was fat like a pig. That got me mad and i told myself i'll show you i got back to my workouts, i'm taking good care of myself and doing better than ever.

So many people talking loud or yelling to get you to listen. Pat, you come in with the subtle music, low soothing tone... it's peaceful and yet has an eerie "Godfather" feel. It says, "listen to me. This is going to impact your life." Great stuff, man. I love it!

I've learned that I NEED to prove people wrong to be successful. Once people start telling me they believe in me, and encouraging me... I lose motivation, and then they are just so confused as to why I don't go anywhere. I crave that smug self-satisfactory moment of "You told me I couldn't, and that's why I DID."

Absolutely agree with you..... I found my purpose and goal because of haters And not because of the motivators! I m gonna do "that" thing just to prove THEM wrong! And I m ready to sacrifice pretty much everything in order to get it!

Patrick, you've previously said that you built this business because you wanted to take care of your father and your family. A noble motivation to be sure, but if you're going to take the position that being challenged is the real motivation, all I can say is, you're absolutely right.

When I was in the depths of a depressive state and in the company of My Daughter the thing that really pushed My limit was the thought I was going to become dependant on Her to alleviate My pain. I understood that was not the role of Children and I just tried to play with Her as best as I was able. It didn't change how I felt about My Self. My motivation was not to become dependant on My Daughter for emotional stability. I always had that, "if I don't do it for My own reasons then It will never happen." I can say that most My Life since I was in My late teens I have been seeking that reason, yes Children but not for them. to be an example. let them do it the way they think till they tire of it. then I do it. there is certainly a Difference between Sons and Daughters. Girls blatantly refuse to be shown how with anything! their play is incredibly elaborate, it is more like a stage production for a Royal audience. certainly, I want to do it for My Children's future and beyond. but the reasons are My own and not limited to either of them. They were not born when I started thinking about what I like and want to achieve in Life. even way back when I was still seeking out that reason. it is a really old concept I adhere to but have only figured out how recently. "bring forth and multiply" in other words search the world for all the resources You will need in Your later years. sow your fields plant the orchards and gardens gathered during travels. everything close to the house is for later years when the body has an issue reaching the borders that where tended when younger. the number of times I missed order by a pip or 5 is incredible, finally corrected that, 1.31352 and stop covers overnight fund, perfect! the original reason was to learn why and how the top line and bottom lines come to be. and another recent lesson the percentage just north of the middle. plenty of farms around, the town's grocer offered last week to introduce Me to a few farmers He knows. maybe check legislation? I also know a biochemist locally who has been studying the health benefits for decades. My motivation, for the most part, is simply doing it.

My haters were my biggest motivations. Thanks GOD ! I made it after all I've been through.

So very true. I remember in the 1960's sitting in on a parent-teacher conference with my mother and 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Van Meter. Regardless of all my physical, neurological, and language processing disabilities, which caused Mrs. Van Meter to tell my mother "Sorry to break the news to you, but there is no hope for your daughter. She is never goibg to make it even through elementary school. But don't worry ma'am, the world will still turn without your daughter." These were fighting words. THE BEST teacher I ever had was my own mother. She never gave up. Nor did I. Mom worked with me hours on end every day. I gave it my best too. Thanks to my Mom being fired up, do was I. We were going to prove Mrs. Van Meter wrong. And succeed, we did! This was long before the days of special education teachers. Mom was a pioneer. She tried everything. One day I brought a book to Mom and said, "I want to read this to you..." Flawless! From that point on, I was up past midnight every night doing my homework until it was just right. I cut out playing with friends in the street, gave up weekends, aced exams with the highest test scores of all the students, and OVERCAME all the physical, neurological, and language processing disabilities that I still have today, but deal with far better. I graduated high school, junior college, was scientific programmer data analyst of rocketry testing, an associate engineer in training on research, design, test, and development of the 38 SSRCT directional guidance and control rocket engines that "talked to" the 5 onboard computers of the Space Shuttle, l a scientific computer programmer in other venues, a business computer programmer in 9 coding languages, a conversion team computer programmer, a computer service bureau founder of my own busines, a private pilot, a seaplane rating, a race pilot,but Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education & Search & Rescue, 99's International Organization of Women Pilots, Women in Science and Engineering, California Society of Professional Engineers, and even "Space-Down-to-Earth" NASA training, Jet Propulsion Laboratory participation, Space Shuttle and other rocketry launches and landings, the Mars Project, and becoming a junior high school teacher of life science, earth science, physical science, Space science, and computer science. All this through recurrent cancers, multiple sclerosis, 2 strokes, 2 heart attacks, but GIVING GOD THE GLORY for opening the doors, breaking the barriers, and making the humanly impossible become a reality. Thank you Mrs. Van Meter for providing the fired-up determination to overturn your severely negative limiting predictions.

Haters are extra fuel for motivation, but the real motivation that I learned comes from within. Seeing the person everyday in the mirror , and knowing that you can do more than where you are is fire for me.

We have all bin there I was the black sheep in the family suck at school didn't go to college started my I.T business 10years ago and I'm keep moving foward and I'm doing this to prove the haters wrong.

My God, Pat...I haven't flinched nor done a thing for the past 7 minutes except look into your eyes and listen. I'm shaking like l just came from a cold shower. Beast mode unleashed!!

This video hit home for me pretty hard. Even though my list of haters is short, the motivation I tapped into from them has lasted all my life and has fueled me to become what I am today. A child labeled on the autistic spectrum from the age of 4 told by a nurse that I will never become a doctor, lawyer, or teacher is now teaching group fitness classes at gyms. A mother who never said I could make it in a job of IT because it did not pay enough money. Now, I run the technology in an elementary school with a new car and money to spare to go back to college again and travel more. Thank you Patrick for making this video. Let the haters hate...for their salty tears feed us the fuel to prove we are better than they will ever be!

Facts! I'll never forget what two bitches said to me.. 6+ years later and it still motivates me every time I think about that shit.

I think this kind of motivation is powerful on the short-mid term, but it can lead to strong issues in the long run, both for your results and your happiness. Because if you want to prove something to the haters and to yourself, you're telling yourself that your value depends a lot on your results. That will lead to a lot of anxiety, and a lot of frustration during hard times and setbacks. Being energized by a passion and a purpose (not by your ego) bring less force on the short term, but it's healthier and more sustainable if you want to succeed in the long run. I don't say that you should never use this kind of dark energy, you can use it sometimes to have a boost, and maybe some people can use it very often and stay ok with that. But I'm pretty sure that most of people driven by that fail and get depressed in the long run. There are a lot of examples of celebrities getting depressed by looking for success, but overlooking their self esteem (by making themselves too dependent of their success). And of course, there are a lot of unknown people suffering from the same issues. And on the other side, there are a lof successful people mostly driven by passion and purpose, like Bill Gates, Roger Federer, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Steven Spielberg, Bradley Cooper, etc... These people don't start their day by thinking about their haters and what they have to prove them, they think about their mission, about the value they can bring to some people through their work. In any area, there are successful people driven by different motivations, but passion and purpose look like the healthier and more effective (in the long run) way, for most of people. Sorry for the long comment, I took the time because I think it's a very important topic (if not the most), and I don't think it's as simple as you said in this video. What works for you couldn't work for others who are not made like you, who can't link their self esteem to their results at this point without suffering strong negative consequences (both outside and inside). That being said, keep up the good work, and thanks for all Pat !

Pat, you are right. We are motivated by people that didn't believe in us and made us reach greatness. But we must credit those who helped at the time we needed that one push towards not stopping. We shouldn't give back to those who made us achieve what we have today the hard way.

Is there anyone who made it just because they wanted to do something bigger, better, faster, for others? Who were motivated by the challenge, from the inside? I agree, that there are haters and their external stimuli can motivate and light a fire but alone, it can also snuff out the light. If not managed well, this hater inspired motivation can lead to success without purpose; but what would I know? I’m just a guy with a job looking for his fire late in life. I shared this channel with my family and some customers; I hope we develop the courage to find our motivations and act. Thanks.

My childhood was so f*cked up that I started working on myself to just catch up, just be normal like everyone else. A little while ago I finally picked my head up and realized normal sucks. Average sucks. Most people suck. What I thought was normal was actually extraordinary and that’s what I’m chasing now, I guess that’s what I’ve been chasing all along just thinking I wasn’t good enough. Thank God for all the haters, and all the misery I went through. Without it, I would just be normal.
