Why Timing is so Important to Giving Effective Feedback!
In this video I share why timing is a critical component to effective feedback (hint, DELAY = DILUTE!), and why stopping the procrastination of difficult conversations will save you LOTS of energy.
I also give you a week-long challenge to take note of how often you put off conversations.

Are you a procrastinator when it comes to difficult conversations? I have definitely been guilty of this over the years, and even though I've gotten better, it's still something I have to hold myself accountable for. I'm taking on my own challenge and keeping a log of how many times I put off conversations over the next week - who's in to do the challenge with me?

Yes! I am not good at conversations that may spike negative energy. I get really bad anxiety about it. Thank you so much for this video!

I hear you - the anxiety is real! Then 99% of the time the actual conversation is never as bad as I've built it up to be in my mind. Do you find that as well?

Kelly Waltman YES! I guess fear of the unknown is what i struggle with most

@@ChimereTrielle Totally get that! We just talked about this during the Courageous Leaders Academy today. We discussed visualizing a positive outcome from the conversation, along with releasing the expectation/desire to control how the other person receives it. Can still be scary, but definitely helps boost confidence!

Guilty but getting better. The big problem I see with delaying conversations is the other person may have forgotten all about it. Then when you bring it up later there's no context and it takes longer to explain what you mean in order to find resolution. They probably won't understand what you're upset about because they've moved on. So many reasons why it's best dealt with ASAP.

Yes - exactly! A perfect example of DELAY = DILUTE (or in other words, delay = loss of context). Very well said!
