Thanks for the video Jon! It is debated who was the most beautiful of the sisters as some historians say it was Maria. 😉 But Tatiana's elegance along with her aristocratic beauty made her striking. One time all the sisters thought Baroness Buxhoveden's jewels did go well with her gown and Tatiana went to get her broaches to lend to her. If she wasn't a Grand Duchess I think she would've been a nurse or a teacher.

(At 4:57, Grand Duchess Olga is shown sitting on steps, not Tatiana.) I will always grieve me how these beautiful children could be murdered and so horrendously. Tatiana had a heart of gold and cared so deeply about those around her. She reminds me of Audrey Hepburn, especially after reading "Dutch Girl" and all Ms. Hepburn suffered as a teenager during WWII. Stoic, strong and, yet so sympathetic to others. I am currently reading her diary. She kept herself busy despite the small circle of friends and close family. Her love for her family and her compassion shines through. Thank you for this lovely video.

According to the image you mentioned. The title translated from Russian is Grand Duchess Tatiana at the Convent of Saints Cosmas and Damian, Crimea. There is certainly a likeness to Olga, but I can only go with what I have. Thanks for pointing it out and for enjoying the video.

Love this video. They were all beautiful. Russians and Germans should never fight each other. They are the same family with different language, food, and music. But they are brothers and sisters. It is evil that tricks them into fighting each other.
@HistoryRoadshow

Thank you for your kind words! It’s true that many European royal families, including those in Russia and Germany, were closely related through marriage and shared ancestry. The idea of them as brothers and sisters really emphasizes how tragic it is when conflicts arise between nations with such deep connections.

@@HistoryRoadshow True ! And while it's fashionable to equate royalty with evil, good also infiltrates. God can send a good soul to an evil mother and father and there's nothing anyone can do about it. So they weren't all bad.

The girls were not popular bride choices because of the wide knowledge of Alexei's hemophilia. Witness how poor Ena, another of Victoria's great granddaughters was basically tortured by the Spanish Royal Family, from fear that she was contaminated with it. And, when her sons were so afflicted, she was basically hounded from the family. Lesser houses were "happy" for the girls to marry in but in reality, they weren't as welcome as possible.
@jamiemohan2049
@jamiemohan2049 Месяц назад
People didn't know Alexei had Haemophilia until he was older. It was hidden from most people. The girls were heavily sought after, but they weren't pushed on marriage, and Nicholas wasn't either. They were the daughters of the richest man alive at the time. Also, many nobles and royals took an interest in them. Carol of Romania unofficially proposed to Maria. The Romanian royals wanted to intermarry with the Romanovs but initially wanted Olga as a bride. The noble man Louis Mount batten (nephew of Alexandra) also showed an interest in marrying Maria. The Serbian royals also took interest in marrying with them, and Tatiana was the main one sought for that match. Of course, nothing was official because the girls and Nicholas weren't too pushed on marriage at the time. They had to be unofficially proposed to and for Nicholas and the girls to agree to it before being made official. Other Romanov Royals (the branch known for being disloyal to the main branch) also proposed that Olga marry one of their sons. Nicholas rejected all proposals, and the girls didn't want to be separated. They were highly sought after. They just kept putting the idea of marriages off. No doubt if the girls did marry and have sons with the condition, they would be blamed by in laws. But most people were still willing to marry Queen Victoria's descendants knowing the potential risks. They were too high status to not be an attractive bride. Eugenia was not near as high rank as the Romanov girls. We also know that only one of the girls carried haemophilia, so if they were married off three would have had healthy children, and even the one carrying Haemophila could have produced healthy kids by chance.

Plus as a Russian Grand Duchess, there were Romanov House rules that demanded respecting higher royal preferences.
@meeeka
@meeeka 18 дней назад
What I find so strange about these girls is that generations of Russian Grand Duchesses were TRAINED that they would leave Russia to marry and they seemed to lean in to it. Of course, they were often disappointed, witness the example of the wife of Prince Alfred, son of Victoria. By marrying into the British RF, and the second son, she thought as a grand duchess, she would take second place only after Victoria at court, forgetting about the Princess of Wales! Victoria had to dictate the order at court and sort it out. Alexandra and Ella would have both known about the familial difficulty.
@HistoryRoadshow
@HistoryRoadshow 6 дней назад
You bring up a fascinating point! Russian Grand Duchesses were indeed often raised with the expectation that they would marry into foreign royal families. The complexities and disappointments of these marriages, like the one you mentioned with Prince Alfred’s wife, often led to difficult adjustments. Alexandra and Ella, with their close ties to the British and Russian royal families, would have been well aware of these challenges and the intricate court dynamics that came with them.

She was tall and slender. The height is the only thing similar to Alexandra. but you could also say she got it from Nicholas's family even though he himself wasn't tall. She had Nicholas's nose, and her eye shape is far more Romanov. In my opinion, only Anastasia resembled Alexandra and her family. The other four looked more Romanov but in different ways. If you look at them, they all have their fathers nose.
