Great video, thanks! In my understanding the unbroken lineage from Elendil to Aragorn is very much important, but to claim the kingship the heir has to prove he is _worthy_ to being king as well. This is interwoven with the finding of _Isildur's Bane,_ the One Ring; to give Aragorn the chance to fulfil the destiny as an heir of Isildur, to fight Sauron and therefore rectify Isildur's fault. None of his ancestors had been able to do that because they've been born into other times. As for your question, I'd neither want to live in Anor nor Gondor, but as on of those _Tralali-Song-Elves_ in Rivendell who make fun of random dwarves and hobbits entering their vale.

Hey guys, i have a question, and i think it might make a good video on its own. Where did the hobbits come frome, how were they created and why are they not referred to when talking about the children of iluvatar? Because the men and the elfs of middle earth are referred to as the children of iluvatar, the dwarves were created by aule the smith (i think) and those are the free peoples of middle earth. What about the hobbits? Or for that matter, where did the ents come from? Would love an answer, and even more id love an answer in vudeo form 😁 Tal ✌️(I sign my name cause its in Hebrew and I guess you dont read Hebrew) P.S - if there are more people who would like to see a video about these questions, maybe give me an upvote. Hobbits are a sub-group of Men. We don't know precisely when the split happened, for hobbits were never the kind of people to record things (at least in the past), but they are of Men. This also makes them Children of Ilúvatar, despite not being quite clear. When Yavanna learned the Children of Ilúvatar and Dwarves would hunt and chop down the animals and plants in order to live and thrive in Arda, she plead to Manwë for counsil. He then heard Eru Ilúvatar's answer and told her spirits would come and help to contain an out-of-balance destruction. Thus the Ents came to be.

“Put aside the ranger. Become who you were born to be.” - Lord Elrond from “Return Of The King”.
@SageKronsell
@SageKronsell 2 года назад
"Look, Strider the ranger has come back." said Pippin. "He has never been away,” said Aragorn. “I am Strider and Dunadan too, and I belong both to Gondor and the North.” One of my favorite forgotten quotes in the book as to how much it reveals of Aragorn's personality, goals, history and confidence. As I said in the comments for the video done about movie vs book Aragorn, I can understand the change Jackson made in his motivation and personality for the movie, but I will always prefer that of the book, because it has all the subtlety, confidence and experience of a man 68 years a warrior and leader would have combined with his nobility of spirit. "Telcontar shall my name be, and that of my heirs forever, and in the old tongue perhaps is shall not sound so bad." - Ellesar Telcontar, Elfstone the Strider. King of the Re-united Kingdom.

Only in the movies, Elrond did not meet Aragorn at that point. He did not tell Aragorn to summon the dead in the camp of Rohan. I totally get why Denathor did not want to "bow to this Ranger from the North". The Stewards had ruled for Generations, at some point your claim to Kingship becones kind of meaningless. Of course we are all glad that Aragon takes over and becomes but it had been so long.
@omgaidebig4121

You missed the whole point. It doesn't matter how much time passes, if somebody has a legit/legal claim to something, it's theirs and there should be no dispute to it. Sure yeah the stewards ruled for a long time, but they were never meant to *replace Isildur's House,* they were meant to do exactly what they put in power: to maintain the kingdom *until the Kings returned.* Not to just take over the kingdom altogether. Denethor didn't understand this either. That's why Gandalf had to remind him that his authority was "given to him so he could deny the return of the King."

Here are a few questions I have. If the one ring was put into an unopenable mithril box would it corrupt anyone (made from Bilbo's shirt). If the armies at the point of the Battle of the Black Gate abandoned their land and sent their people west would they win against the armies of Sauron. If Theoden took a few days to muster the Rohirrim how would Helms Deep and Pelennor fields go differently. Would the barrow blades kill the other Nazgul. (only in the films) Isn't it a plot hole that Gandalf would not take Frodo to Rivendell on his way to see Saruman since it was relatively close and going a few days out of his way (at the most) to keep the ring safe would not have hurt.
@leonardofaber5823
@leonardofaber5823 2 года назад
1. Mithril Box - the metal protects against damage. It would not block the power of the Ring; its influence would still continue to cause harm; 2 and 3 - Armies- As Aslan say: we can never know what could have happened; 4. We don't know if the barrow-blades could kill the Nazgûl. All we see is the blade hurting the Witch-king. Yes, they could hurt the others, but killing? Possible, but not 100% confirmed;

I wrote the longer answer below before realizing that “only in the films” is meant for the final question. However, as I think its logic will help elucidate some of what I say in the context of the movie and where such logic might be placed; even if presumed to occur off-screen. Considering Gandalf doesn’t realize the Nazgûl are abroad at the time he races off for Isengard, he is justified in thinking that Frodo and Sam can make it to Bree just fine, where he plans to meet up with them (nothing is said of Rivendell at this time). We the audience see the Nine but he is only informed after leaving them. He leaves in haste, for it is clear that he relies greatly on the wisdom and trustworthiness of Saruman; and wants his councils before making a more definite move. Distances are ambiguous in the films and it is inferred that Gandalf can make the journey with new knowledge in hand by the time the Hobbits reach Bree. GANDALF You must leave, and leave quickly. Get out of the Shire. FRODO Where? Where shall I go? GANDALF Make for the village of Bree. FRODO Bree? What about you? GANDALF I will, be waiting for you at the Inn of the Prancing Pony. FRODO And the ring will be safe there? GANDALF I don't know, Frodo. I don't have any answers. I must see the Head of my Order. He is both wise and powerful. Trust me, Frodo. He'll know what to go. So, no it is not a plot hole because it is not clear that Gandalf would have taken them to Rivendell without Saruman advising it. Bree was a good first step until the wise could take council and make plans. Plus, the movie is following the book more or less so it can’t deviate too far anyway. … "Then you must go now," said Radagast; "for I have wasted time in looking for you, and the days are running short. I was told to find you before Midsummer, and that is now here. Even if you set out from this spot, you will hardly reach him before the Nine discover the land that they seek. I myself shall turn back at once." Here is where the trouble begins; why not go back for Frodo at once so he would be under Gandalf’s protection and drop him off on the way? I would point out what is said after this: `I could not follow him then and there. I had ridden very far already that day, and I was as weary as my horse; and I needed to consider matters. I stayed the night in Bree, and decided that I had no time to return to the Shire. Never did I make a greater mistake! `However, I wrote a message to Frodo, and trusted to my friend the innkeeper to send it to him. I rode away at dawn…’ “ Never did I make a greater mistake!” It’s not a plot hole but a mistake, openly admitted by Gandalf at the Council of Elrond. As to why he made a mistake? Gandalf in his elderly and fleshy incarnation was fallible; he was “weary as [his] horse” and so caught up in the moment, the urging of Radagast likely clouding his judgement as a result.
@Lord-Emperor-Vader
@Lord-Emperor-Vader 2 года назад
@@TrainsFilmedByRussellBynum How did Gandalf think he would be able to get half way across Middle Earth and back in the time it took Frodo and Sam to walk about 120 miles. That would probably take 3 to 4 days assuming depending on how long they rest and how fast they walked. Remember he did not have Shadowfax yet so that would not be a factor. I understand the reasoning in the book Frodo could not simply disappear and Gandalf messed up giving the letter to Barliman Butterbur. It would have been smart to make sure the ring was somewhere safe and at a minimum Gandalf could of dropped Frodo off in Bree and told Aragorn if I am not back in like a week get Frodo somewhere safe.
@TrainsFilmedByRussellBynum
@TrainsFilmedByRussellBynum 2 года назад
@@Lord-Emperor-Vader Again, the movies play fast and loose with distances and sometimes even locations (if only by proxy)… but I’m not convinced that it is enough to constitute a legit plot hole. Plus, your eta says nothing about delays in the Old Forest and on the Barrow Downs. True, there is no hint of this in the movie nor of Tom B. but there is also no reason to think that such did not happen either; if off-screen. Yes, we get a nod to Old-Man Willow in an extended cut from The Two Towers plus Tree-Beard gets some repurposed dialogue from that section, too. However, I like the logic given in a behind-the-scenes videos to the Fellowship film that speaks to what was cut and what was not shown. Specifically, the clip I recall mentioned this very gap in the film between the ferry and the arrival at Bree. In it, it is suggested that a variation of the trip through the Old Forest, the Barrow Downs, or even Tom could exist since the the film merely doesn’t cover it rather than openly conflicting or refuting it. We presume the characters use the restroom and sleep despite us rarely or never seeing it on screen. Likewise, when large gaps in time occur, we can safely presume a movie-variant of the book narrative likely happened in that interval. Now, adding a couple days (say 6-7) to your eta and acknowledging that distances (and thus travel times) are seemingly compressed or glossed over in the movie generally, it is not wholly unreasonable to think Gandalf could accomplish it. Remember, we are talking about the same movie that later has Frodo riding from near Weathertop to the border river of Rivendell in seemingly less than 24-hrs, or perhaps two days depending on how you count. That same journey (granted, taking devious paths) in the book took two weeks on foot with only a short sprint by horse at the end.

To answer the question at 15:20 - Neither. Neither Arnor or Gondor are places I will like to live. Not big into ancient cities (dirty as they were) nor a believer in monarchies (or theocracies.) Perhaps The Shire would have been a cozy place to live, but stifling in that small-town way.

a question for you why didnt the dunedain try to rebuild arnor
@danielcarson4943
@danielcarson4943 2 года назад
Just wondering does Tolkien ever explain why there is little development between the ages? Technology in the first age is pretty much the same as that in the third, and as you say Aragorn claimed the throne 3000 years after the death of Isildur, that’s like somebody claiming to be Pharaoh of Egypt now, which I doubt people here would accept. Why didn’t Gondor change to a new line of kings not related to Isildur or change to another form of government?

I'd pick coastal Gondor, i.e Anfalas or Belfalas. If I could pick anywhere in Middle Earth it would be Lindon or Rivendell.

well you asked, ... Of the named places in The Lord Of The Rings, I'd like to have lived in Bree. Founded in the Second Age, Bree survived the fall of Arnor, and the rise and fall of Arthedain. So, to your question, I'll answer Arnor. It seems like a pretty nice, if wholly ordinary, place
@1fan996

Why wasn't the kingdom Arnor, or just Arthedain, rebuilt?
@DevJannz
@DevJannz 2 года назад
According to Tolkien, the Dunedain of the North no longer had the numbers to sustain a kingdom after the fall of Arvedui, so his son chose not to try to reform the kingdom and instead formed the Rangers of the North who's purpose was to watch over the ancient lands that made up Arnor until such time as they might be able to recreate the Kingdom.

The answer to your question very biased through the movies unfortunatly. If you have seen the beauty of minas tirith it is difficult not to choose Gondor. I think we can judge from a more neutral perspecitve when we do become more to see from Arnor e.g. Anuminas or Fornost

@TheBrokenSword
@TheBrokenSword 2 года назад
Not intentionally if it happens to be 😂 With there being many Tolkien channels we are always likely to cover similar topics as one another as more time goes on, even with many that we cover now being ones we ourselves had already covered in the past too! So some people will cover the same things after us, and sometimes we will after them, it is just how things go sometimes sadly!

I have seen such unintentional duplication happen often on a given topic in RU-vid; like with channels that specialize in Elder Scroll lore, especially Skyrim, and Star Wars. Hell, I’ve seen it happen with my own videos; and if not for that I am a small fry, I’d swear it was intentional. That is, I’ve posted a video two on this or that specific passenger train at various locations and days later another more establish channel posts a very similar video; it was almost uncanny. Now, I’m fairly sure this channel has no clue that mine exists; and even if so, there is no need to outdo my stuff (as if to one-up me) when it has so many more subscribers and views; such numbers I can only dream of. However, as we live in the same region and film similar trains, it’s inevitable that such coincidences or convergences will come up.
