Just to encourage other viewers and subscribers, please listen to Anna's advice, especially when she says to be patient and consistent. Her advice DOES WORK, but like with everything, it takes time and diligence.

Thank you once more for encouraging good natural nail care habits. Since I made the decision to be a dedicated Jojoba oil ‘user’ and to give my nails a weekly ‘me time’ … their natural beauty shines through 🌻 Thank you, I appreciate you 💐

About making nailbeds longer with nail polish. I have a story to confirm)) I used to bite my nails up until I was 23 y.o., then I stopped but my nails looked terrible and I thought they will be like this forever. But then I read in a nail blog that it was actually possible to recover your nails. In order to do that you had to not use any sharp objects to clean under your nails (because you could easily damage the skin, I used a brush to clean the dirt out), to use nail oil and push back the living skin at least once a day and always have a couple of layers of nail polish on your nails. Nail polish keeps your nails pressed against your nail beds and they grow together faster. Also nail polish dries the nail plate a bit, so your nails have a C-curve. I think the explanation was something like this. And it worked! Now I have normal nails, very even and beautiful. I think it took several years but the result is great. I'm happy that I read that article many years ago and I wish more people knew about this method. In fact, there were many girls who shared their experience with pictures, and sometimes it was just unbelievable how nails transformed due to all these easy steps.

also i would like to add, i went to cosmetology school. I really really really wish they explained nail care like you do. I know that nails are such a small portion of cosmetology but I was definitely fed misinformation about proper nail care. Maybe those books need an Ana update!! lol ❤

this woman has my nails - I have the same issues…A spoon shaped nail that I used to think was clubbing (I have had that one nail shape on that single nail all of my life). I later learned it was from hapyonychia or “eggshell nails.” I have the ragged and open skin separation - especially where I used to have a periungual wart. y wart was more like a severe callus on the side of the fingernail. I also have nails that have a trapezoid shape nail bed and with a lack of sidewall - usually on one side only. On her first damaged nail, (the first problem nail you assessed) I noticed she had an issue with the side wall shaped normally on one side but the side with the green spot lacked adhesion to the sidewall. With my nails that look like that, they also tend to grow out at an angle towards that missing sidewall. Picture a nail growing straight and then picture a nail where half of it grows faster, producing about a 15 degree offset. The rate of growth, side to side, creates inconsistent growth. You advised cutting the nails shorter and mirroring the growth plate, but I was not clear on how the area with the damaged sidewall should be cut. For my nails, the ones growing with little sidewall tend to tear much more easily. Nearly all of my fingernails can be torn like pieces of paper and they have been that way my entire life, i.e. way before I ever used nail polish or products. The similarities to this viewers fingernails and mine are shocking. I love that users with all types of problems reach out to you and that you help them and share your observations with others so the world can learn. Again, thank you. Any answers to my questions about the sidewall issue with a trapezoid shaped nail bed would also be helpful.

Thank you Anna, I have learned SO much from you! My nails looked exactly like the clients shown. I thought it was normal to have skin grown down like that. In fact pushing it back made it actually look worse due to the bulk now pushed up so I would cut way back......always that vicious cycle. I always painted my nails right up and even going over the proximal nail fold not knowing better so I would never think to push the skin back with polished nails during the week because I felt it would ruin the manicure I had just done. It took me about three weeks as well to get the look of the after picture.

Such a positive outlook for this skin recovering back to health. It will take some time and new habits but just easy gentle care, that is wonderful . Hope they share progress in a month or so! The tiny tiny dab of Kerasal ointment at night is great. ❤🎉
