Relax. Salt is fine. It is good for exercise performance since it helps with nerve conductivity and it also help with the production of stomach acid to digest food. It doesn't increase blood pressure, it's the extreme consumption of high carb foods like grains and legumes that cause water retention. When those are removed, you can add salt back in again because you won't have retention anymore

While there might not be any added salt some of the ingredients in the salt free may have higher sodium levels since sodium does not exclusively mean salt, it could mean that a process done to something before adding it to the sardines. My guess would be the "spring water" isn't true spring water but rather water that is filtered with a salt medium (ie water softener) to improve it's taste and reduce the hardness of the water. I would be curious to see what the plain water vs spring water sodium levels compare in both the salted/unsalted versions.

Sardines in water are disgusting. Get them in Olive Oil instead. They not only taste better that way, but have better Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio that way. Also remember that sardine is not a specific species of fish so tins from two different companies of "sardines in water" is not necessarily a like vs like comparison and may well be two different species of fish. Sardines caught off coast of Iberian Peninsula tend to be the best in my opinion. Maitz is a good brand that is pretty easy to find.

Funny where bad 'science' (actually gossip not science) takes people. Salt is not a poison, refined salt is, especially with anti-solidyfing chemicals added and served in plant oil baked potatoe chips and other highly processed factory packed treats. Get yourself 'raw' sea salt or mineral (mined) salt with no other processing than crumbling to desired grain size and sprinkle generously your daily 6-egg breakfast.

I like some salt in my diet, especially a more whole salt like Celtic or Himalayan. One of the reasons some of us crave salt on an egg or on meat (before I went vegetarian) is that it alkalizes an otherwise acidic food, salt in coffee makes that coffee healthier. Of course this is all up for debate, plus everyone's different genetically and amounts count so much as with anything, numerous factors of course
@IamNothingNoWhere
@IamNothingNoWhere 2 года назад
Salt is plant food, not human food. You crave it either because you're mineral deficient or because of the drug-like effect of sodium chloride. It's not bioavailable. It destroys cells and is incredibly imbalancing. You need sodium but not in that form. And coffee with never be healthy, in any way shape or form. It's a stimulant. The "energy" it gives you is from stress hormones. The only way it gets less toxic is if you drink it with plenty of animal fat.

@@IamNothingNoWhere yeah I dont do coffee because I dont consume anything roasted but even raw coffee beans are quite stimulating which I'm not interested in. All I was saying is that people who already drink it can make it more alkaline adding some salt. Salt is the great alkalizer, buffer youre just saying it is not a healthful way to alkalize

Nothing wrong with salt, it's essential, most of the salt is in the brine, not the fish.

Look at the ingredients of a box of table salt. It has dextrose in it. Dextrose is a simple sugar derived from corn. Why are they putting sugar in salt?

that is literally a pinch of salt. and a half pinch difference between the two. 5ml of seawater has that amount of salt. 1 teaspoon of salt is about 6000mg.

tbh, sardines are great but they do be kinda too salty sometimes. it depends on the brand and the batch. but some are def saltier than others.

I missed you man. Followed you as a vegan, followed you as a carnivore. Haven’t seen any of your videos for two years. I stumble into this video at midnight randomly. Still the same exact dude, but as always, on a different diet.

My neighbor who sells me bread doesn't lie to me and is a registered company :^) Buy local, city slickers don't know this but not everything is factory-made thousands of miles away, unless said city is an office hellhole.

Not sure why you're not eating salt? Salt is very good for you. If youre worried about bp then back off the sugar and other carbs. No bp issues if you do that

My favorite example is cooking spray. It says 0% Fat But it is literally 100% fat. They get away with it because the serving size is 1/3 of a second spray… even though they spray for 5 seconds in the commercial to coat the pan. F’ing Bullshiz

Excess salt/sodium is not as bad as people have been conditioned to believe assuming you have healthy kidneys, no blood pressure or other health issues your kidneys will filter out any excess your body doesn’t need.

the people who still think salt is bad for you probably also believe red meat causes diabetes and eggs clog your arteries.

Yes, in the U$A, regulations are written to facilitate business profits, but the interweb makes it pretty easy to make improved choices. Everyone is advised to look into more recent research about sodium and life health outcomes, not just lab tests leveraged to sell poisons (prescription drugs) or mutilation (surgery). Look into overall health outcomes for prostate, colonoscopy, or mammogram business practices. As for doom apocalypse paranoia: doubts and guesses are not facts or knowledge. The end of the world has always been nigh according to various people. I did not catch even one reference to any respectable study in this vid. Ignorance is not evidence. Synthesis is not analysis.

lmao this is amazing. Sodium is bad? I have always preferred things very salty compared to most people. My health is generally excellent, and I'm 35, so you can't write that off as a problem simply not having yet come home to roost. We have kidneys for a reason, and they do a great job at regulating things like sodium. We also have things like neurons that really don't like being without sodium. Why do you think mammals sometimes get a strong urge to consume salty stuff? Unusually high amounts of salt in modern processed foods may not be good, but being salt deficient is at least as bad.

Salt isnt a big deal. You've been lied to about salt. In fact, you need salt.
