It is truly very depressing when I see people like you working against other Pakistanis. In the US, where I live, scientific papers are published after peer reviews, and if they are meaningless then just about every paper is suspect. There is a possibility that the people you thought were unworthy to get on this list might have improved their credentials. It is also strange that you are working against some of your own former students! Perhaps you are jealous that you didn't make the list. At one time, I had a lot of respect for you, but nowadays you lose no opportunity to denigrate Pakistan and its people. Is there ANYTHING that you do like about Pakistan?

I was lucky to work with the highest level professors in U.K in Material Science discipline. They award ratings to departments and my department was probably in the top five European Material Science departments. One department of a Uni may be at higher ranking but other may be not. Good guidance for freshers and post grads. GRE is a good suggestion. We appreciate ur this presentation. The main problem with Pakistani Universities is teachers capacity to supervise high level research. Plz advise and help relevant circles to develop a proper data base of high ranking international supervisors those may be willing to support and supervise our research projects.

Prof Parvez sir is absolutely correct. I am also a Physicist teaching Quantum mechanics and SSP to UG students. But the depart from which I took PhD in Physics it deserved just average number ranking in India but this department is in top 10 dept which is wrong. Because I spent here 12 years from PG, MPhil and PhD I know all the professors and students from this dept especially in Material science they don't have any sense of their research nor can represent them properly in front of scientific community even here the professors are on professor level but last months their names are counted as global scientists because of their research publications and scitations they had got. So I agreed with Prof Parvez sir there must be some AUDIT on such research education systems those can decide the global ranking of Universities and professors.

Sir, some Pakistani students have gotten their PhD degrees within 3 years after 16 years of education (conventional MA/MSC) without MPhil or MS completed from foreign universities (especially from England and China). However, in Pakistan and in foreign universities, Bachelor degree takes 4 to 5 years, MPhil or MS degree takes 2 to 3 years after passing GAT general, and after students can apply for the PhD program. Unfortunately, the HEC of Pakistan has recognised their degree as PhD equivalent and now they are working as asistant professors in universities. Sir, kindly give a lecture on this issue.

I agree with you professor Hoodbuoy! I too have refused to take research scholars who come up with sham research Proposals that do not exhibit any original thought. A retired professor from Delhi Univ!

I belong to IIT Guwahati, India, I might agree with all points mentioned, but I won't deny, my prof is really a gem in his field and he deserves to be on the TOP 2% list.
