I am learning this the hard way. My job managers volunteered to help another office meet their goals by taking on their backlog and current claim interviews by adding them to us workers. They still demand we meet all the deadlines. To look good they want us to take the last minute issues of clients that walk in without appointments. The only thing the top person looks at is the numbers. We are rushed during interviews so we can take as many as possible. Interviews are not cookie cutter type. It seems so rude to rush clients no matter what their dilemma. To get the high numbers of claims means less time to process them and follow up with details. All the stressing to do a super job and meet ridiculous deadlines created by the job to make them look like the super office. When you get sick they just want to know when you will return to work. Yes all workers there have spoken up with ideas to do things better but none applied. At my age hard to just let go and get another job. Have to find a way to pace myself. Will try some of the suggestions in this interview. My health first.

I quit my job on my 42 birthday. I got to the office and my boss informed me that we would be having a meeting with some big wigs....basically to tell us what we were not doing right. I sat at my desk. She said she got bagels for my birthday and they are in the break room. She left to get some things for the meeting. I sat there. Then I wrote on a post it note...."I need a change" and stuck it to my monitor. I packed a small box with a few items I wanted to take with me. I walked to the door and the secretary saw me...and I waved to her. I got in my vehicle and left. I have never been better.

Our emotions are action signals. Many times we try to mask our emotions such as anxiety, depression, anger, and boredom, with external tools like sugar, smoking, drugs, drinking, and TV. When you begin to befriend your emotions you can deal with them in more control which can put you in a better state to make decisions and actions that will serve you and not disempower you.

Empower Self Mastery Emotions can play an important role in how we think and behave. The emotions we feel each day can compel us to take action and influence the decisions we make about our lives, both large and small. In order to truly understand emotions, it is important to understand the three critical components of an emotion.
@sashamotovylets1753
@sashamotovylets1753 4 года назад
Do you have any techniques to befriend your emotions? I either think of them as my child self that needs to be comforted or as my monkey mind that needs to be taken into consideration. In the end, I find that all these emotions stem from either not having our needs met or attaching a story that does not serve us anymore to them, or both. I am pretty good at challenging the story, but I am still working on making sure my needs are met.

After I watched this video a month ago, it inspired me and I started thinking deeply about why do I eat so much sugar (I've been binge eating sugar since I can remember). I have tried in the past multiple times to give up sugar, but with no results. I was starting to feel that sugar was controlling me, but the reality was different. I came up with the conclusion that I was using it as a coping mechanism for stress, boredom and also loneliness. Sugar actually helped me to feel better in moments when I wasn't feeling good. So I decided that next time I want to eat sugar, I will ask myself, "What do I feel like I actually need right now?" Is it connection? Is it relaxation? And after I decide which one, I will go meet that need directly. I would go on a walk or call a friend for example. In the past, instead of taking the "hard road" to resolve those problems or needs, I was choosing the easier part, and that was eating sugar. This mentality changed me a lot. It's been exactly one month since I've been sugar free and not only have I lost 2 kg (without any exercise), but I feel more in control of my life and I feel no need whatsoever to get back to it. If there is anybody who identifies with this, please give this a try. Ask "What unmet need am I meeting through sugar in my life?". It is definitely worth it. This video was the one that urged me to get back in control of my diet. I thank Sarah and Tom deeply for it. If it hadn't been for this video, I would never have addressed this issue in the way that I did. Lots of love

This literally gave me a huge epiphany!!! I’ve been having issues lately that I’ve never had before. Things like not wanting to take actions that I need to take, my room being messier than it ever has been before, my head being my own worst enemy. Feeling frozen from moving forward. I didn’t realize that this was anxiety. I used to meditate regularly and all last year I walked just about every day and I was fine. I was starting to worry about what I was feeling and what was happening in my head and in my body. This interview helped me realize that all I need to do is start meditating every morning and walking every day, like I used to. Thank you so very much for this!!! I think that this remembrance just might’ve saved my life.

Going off coffee is the last step for me, because it's not just the coffee, it's also the sugar AND the flavored creamer I add. I used to jokingly say, "Hi, my name is Tiffany and I'm a flavored-creamer junkie." To be honest, now, it's not such a joke, and I just wanna eliminate it. BUT one thing at a time: I'm 51 and have recently started riding a bicycle again (haven't ridden a bike since I started driving at age 16, lol!), AND I gave up weed three weeks ago, after DECADES of use (been using weed longer than ☝️ that, even). :-) So, yeah, I'm conquering my demons, one vice at a time. Exercise (weight training, beyond just bicycling), stuff (that hoarding demon, tho!), sugar :-)

@@saihemebillings2820 once again im not a doctor, but, before eliminating it completely, i replaced sweets with healthier alternatives such as almond milk, orange juice, low fat ice cream, and lots of fruits. Instead, you should watch the video, *at least* part of it if not most of it, then do the thumbs up. That if you do it too quickly the system will not count your 'like' because you did it too fast and it knows you couldn't have watched it yet. Like I said, I don't know if that is true, but it was the channel owner who said it to me. So now I always wait to give thumbs up, just to make sure it counted. :)

What was spoken in the last section "Sit through the pain" is very much alike to how I have combatted my anxiety over the years, and I see it as expanding my comfort zone. I feel anxiety becomes more present the smaller my comfort zone is, and it is triggered by the fear of the unknown outside of it. Committing to expanding my comfort zone has been the greatest thing I could do for this. The more it expands, the more comfortable you can become in more of the world nad yourself. "Sitting with the pain" until it is no longer painful. Thankyou for this conversation, I enjoyed it very much.

I'm glad to have found someone knowledgeable who has made the link between what we eat (sugar in particular) to anxiety and has a personal testimony. Most people are not willing to connect the things they are doing with the things they are experiencing. I'm starting my first day of no processed sugar tomorrow and will eat fruits and honey healthily. Hopefully, it'll last a lifetime.

I recently went on a Vipassana meditation retreat where the same principles of bringing back the awarenesses and not reacting to any physical sensation were taught. I can now simply observe my emotions and feel them deeply without lashing out or reacting in negative ways. If the problem is universal, the solution has to be universal: just our breath. Thank you Tom for the gift of such an amazing content!! Much love and success.

Her comments on being a crap meditator truly made me breathe a giant sigh of relief. I, too, am a crap meditator, and have stopped meditating regularly as of late because I figured "it wasn't working for me." But this has given me such a desire to get back into it, even if it doesn't "work" and I don't get better at it. I can't describe how amazing that feels.

Sugary dairy and breads eaten alone after fasting and by themselves will immediately give me feelings of anxiety. It is like the food goes for my gut to my brain in less than 20 minutes. I quit sugar for a month. All my allergies and skin sensitivity went away. My skin was always red patchy and irritated and I had breakouts. all that went away and my skin was so smooth and even. I could put all my skin products on with no reaction. I decided to add small amounts of sugar back but big mistake. Now I'm more addicted and my skin has gotten worse. I have painful acne that leave scars. So I'm trying to break it again. I'm constantly having sugar cravings. I can't believe all my skin issues and allergies are because of sugar and gluten. Once you break the withdrawal after like two weeks you are good. You feel sick and right after you feel so much better. Sugar makes me feel tired and sluggish. I had so much more energy. I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of the cravings.

Hi! I was in the same exact situation as you for years. I have tried in the past multiple times to give up sugar, but with no results. I was starting to feel that sugar was controlling me. But I came up with the conclusion that I was using it as a coping mechanism for stress, boredom and also loneliness. It's been exactly one month since I've been sugar free and it feels great. Ask "What unmet need am I meeting through sugar in my life?". Trust me, after you answer this and you go for what YOU ACTUALLY WANT, and you get it, afterwards you will not feel the need to go to sugar. This worked miracles for me. I hope this helps you and best of luck !!!

Having had debilitating anxiety at one point in my life and being trained in how to manage anxiety and neurobiology as a social worker, it’s been very helpful to know and understand firstly that anxiety is normal and serves a function but can become triggered in situations where it is not required. Secondly it produces hormones that can take days to dissipate so there’s no quick fix but a process, and thirdly there are some simple behaviours you can engage in wherever you are to help this process to occur sooner than later. Lastly, therapy to help thoughts and behaviour change and developing awareness of triggers or early signs of anxiety are great strategies to prevent anxiety re-emerging. I have used all these successfully.

I find that anxiety seems to be right on the edge, the peripheral of my mind, and it actually "knocks" on the door when I catch myself (acknowledge) that I'm having a good time - smiling, laughing - and then I settle myself down, and sort of take a neutral state just to avoid tipping over into panic. So, I found it very illuminating that excitement (a positive feeling) is the same brain-work as anxiety. Meditation has helped a lot, and I've decided that being in a peaceful, neutral state is the best place to be. I often question my perception of things if I'm too excited or too negative. Am I being skeptical enough of this experience or situation to have such a profound regard or emotional response? Peace seems best for awareness and control, though sometimes lackluster. Still working on finding a balance :)

AlphaDog Elite3 Dairy can be okay, but you need to experiment. Ie. are you able to process lactose ? Do you have inflammation issues with A1 Milk ?...then A2 milk is an option, or goats milk. Same goes for cheese. Goat or sheep cheese has the A2 profile, or buffalo mozzarella. Yogurts convert the Protein in the Fermentation process to something more digestible, so possibly a good option. If you love dairy, there's still a good chance you can consume it.
