@@AnthonyJ350 I've owned 2 Z's and your videos have helped immensely. I sold my first one and have regretted it since so I bought another and it has been a nightmare because the previous owner stripped everything they could off of the car "I would assume to track it" and basically made it underivable as a daily. When I bought it I knew it needed work but I didn't realize the hole I was jumping into with the cost of replacing the odds and ends the car is missing. To be honest for what I've spent I could have bought a totaled Z, stripped it for parts, and maybe made some money selling what I didn't need.
So 1. Doesnt really matter 2. Wouldnt bother me 3. For 5k its pretty quick 4. Check engine lights are not a huge problem and it does happen on other cars and some of the other things you mentioned 5. Yeah this one is true its kinda weird but not a huge problem unless your doing a lot of engine work 6. I think its just a problem with your car 7. ^^^ For the price its 100% worth it
Owned 2 350z and I can say I did encounter few headaches but that could actually happened to any car.. I did learned a lot of this car.. and I can say 350z still worth it.. cant wait to see this guy once he owned euro cars which is much harder & expensive to maintain.. i think for me once you have passion or love a certain car? Doesn’t really bother you whatever the issues are..
350Z were sweet when they first came out but ofc comparing a 15 y/o car to a current car it's gonna not be as quick. bought a revup touring 06 last year when I knew nothing about cars and this was the car I learned manual in and stalled a bullion times. still no issues i lucked out without the oil burning, window, etc and I've done bare minimum maintence. the only negative is definitely the shit paint Nissan put in their interior lol... I've been blessed 231k miles going strong.
A few tips for anyone shopping for a Z coming from someone who's owned 2 if them, CHECK EVERYTHING! Make sure all the interior trim is there and not broken because these parts are expensive to replace. Check all the plastic shielding under the car because its important. They stop water and rocks from being thrown into the engine bay which can cause a world of issues, especially water which can cause a nightmare of electrical issues for these cars. If these aren't intact you'll eventually end up with water in your intake, inside all the electrical connectors "because they aren't water tight" inside the headlight housings and in the battery compartment which will cause the car not to start or weird things like your alarm or door locks to start acting weird. If the car has aftermarket wheels try to find out what they are and check the price of the tires available for those wheels. Last thing you want is some odd size that have limited availability. Also make sure the wheels are Hub Centric because if not you'll need hub centric rings. If they aren't and you don't install rings you'll be replacing wheel studs every few months because the stock studs aren't made for the abuse. In most cases this wont be possible but if you can thoroughly inspect the car I would recommend pulling the plenum to pull spark plugs. Generally at about 70k the seals in the valve covers start to fail and the spark plug tubes will fill with oil and cause the plugs to foul. On the DE's this generally happens first on the driver side plug closest to the firewall. Also keep in mind that the WHOLE valve cover has to be replaced because the plug seals are pressed into the cover and aren't a serviceable part. if you're doing the replacement yourself when you purchase the valve covers also buy replacement bolts because I can almost guarantee you'll break or lose one. If you own or plan to own one find the ECU & throttle position sensor reset instructions. PRINT THEM OUT AND KEEP THEM IN YOUR GLOVE BOX. the one time you need them you will be glad that you did. The ridiculous pedal dance you have to do for these cars will make you want to strangle whoever at Nissan thought this was a good idea. Last but definitely not least BODY KITS. Just because it looks cool doesn't mean you should buy it. In my personal experience most fiberglass kits for this car fit like complete garbage and any car with one I'd personally walk away from just to save myself from the headache. Save your money and spend it on upgrades that will make the car last. If you're looking at one that has a kit check the figment and make sure its not some janky install. If its fiberglass eventually it will crack. If the plastic shields have been removed or improperly installed removing an aftermarket kit is a nightmare because the bolts rust and usually have to be cut. This also makes going back to a stock kit an expensive and time consuming job because of all the clips and Fasteners that you will probably have to replace. I don't entirely agree with everything in the video but he's right that these cars have a lot of stupid little issues.Overall I love the Z's but they aren't for everyone. I would highly advise anyone shopping for one be mechanically inclined or have deep enough pockets to pay someone.
147k on my wife's 03, never put a wrench on it accept for a coil pack. So I went ahead and changed all 6 a month later it started rattling loud up top within another month something let go in the engine. Ordered a JDM engine from Orlando added a plenum spacer and pulley delete, new plugs and headlights. Love the car still looks new inside and out. It's parked in a garage. It'll be good for another 17 yrs.
I recently purchased an 04 350Z and this is by far the most fun car I have ever owned.... I have had many cars(mustang,Camaro, etc).and OMG do people look twice...also I've noticed the 350Z owners are a family of their own..im proud to be in the Z club.
I like my 350gt ( Australia) same motor ,same as a g35 in the states. it drives real nice , power is ok , but my roadbike has 200hp so i always want more out of the 350, but in general its a nice car
His first complain like "I bought cheapest base model, and I don't know why it doesn't come with all features that fully loaded model comes with"... I mean... You get what you paid for. I have fully loaded rev-up Grand Turing with every single feature available, including Brembos, Ray's wheels, GPS, leather heated seats and everything you just can imagine. Car is still like new and so good that I can't find a replacement.
Window button maybe due to disconnecting the battery, you may need to reset your 1 touch windows on both sides as I've had cars where you don't set one of them it stops the button working.
Remember, you didn't buy a new car. You don't know how the previous owner treated the car. I bought my 2003 new and 168k later the interior is scratch-free. With every used car, you'll have to get the maintenance up to standard. As far as speed, it's not a racer car. It's a sports coop. So you only have a platform to build on and make it faster. With the car aging more and more, it's getting cheaper, so you are able to buy those upgrades that you want.
To answer your questions as to why the engine bay is designed the way it is. The short answer is most tracks require your battery and fluids to be separate from the engine. Both can suffer from heat soak and present a potential fire hazards when excessively heated so separating them from a potential ignition source is important.
I have owned 2 and it’s been a blast, my first was the vert and it has 0 visibility whatsoever, you thought the normal z was bad? Regardless didn’t have one issue w the engine and I ripped on it everywhere, only issues I’ve ran into are tire pressure monitors
You have several good points. The paint peeling off the interior side panels and dash really bug the shit out of me. Been through two factory stereos, same problem left channel lost. Bought it new in 2006, beat the living SHIT out of it. Three year warranty , Factory replaced the trans and engine. Now I drive it like an old lady, hope it lasts till I die. They are fun cars.
I know this is an old video but I’m trying to build my 03 350z up and I noticed you said you’re in the DMV area so I was hoping you could give me some tips and tricks to smooth out the process
Ayy man I really like your videos I’m a new subscriber and I really appreciate your opinions on the 350z I’ve been looking to get one for my second car ever
One thing that kinda bugs me about the 350 is that I have the enthusiast touring so I have the seat heaters so when I’m shifting or resting my arm sometimes my arms hit the buttons😂
@@static7137 I bought a 98 Sentra with 50k on it a few years ago. Some old folks bought it brand new and hardly ever drove it. It happens sometimes man.
I still have my Nissan350z after 17yrs , it’s still my daily. Last car I had before my 350z was a Honda Civic. I got this car because of its performance and handling. It’s a great car 👍🏼
i want to get rid of my lincoln ls and get a z and reason number four made me go “but right now i have to take out my whole headlight to change a bulb. i’m used to it”
I'm 14 and I love cars ik this car is from 2006 2004 but is it worth to buy it 4 years later ? Or should I go for a more new one as cars from 2014 go down in price
Hey ma driver window I don’t close or sometimes it’s closing but seems like it i got had time to close it or Open it what you think what’s wrong with it?
Same with my gti. Its got a misfire on cyl 2, so i changed the spark plugs and coils, a brand new timing kit, new fuel injectors and cleaned the cyl heads, brand new intake gasket, running on 93 octane fuel, still misfires. And its gotten actually a little worse.
Can relate with the interior issue, but reaching over 150k not a single check engine light is a blessing lol, from what I’ve learned from other enthusiasts is that the cam sensor goes out a lot due to mistreatment and hard beating on the car (which we all do nobody’s gotta lie about it) but they’re typical things. One not you should put on though is living in snowy states they rust pretty quick and that getting some oe only parts are kinda hard now like the member stays that hold the rear end to the body not a cheap part and gotta get them shipped from japan 😓
had a 1.8L mk1 mx5 for over 3 years now, still heaps fun and absolutely love it! But a 350z will 100% be the next car soon! Surely the power difference would feel mad going from ~130hp to >250hp?? Anyone done this upgrade?
Let me give you a tip. Google. Some forum gives you detailed cheap fix. 10 Dollar. There is NOTHING wrong with the window motor. Just buy RC car brushes.(the material is soft, so you can make them smaller so they fit easily) Take out the Window motor. replace the brushes and put the motor back. Recalibrate and DONE. As NEW. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PFP14d3yCQg.html
Nice video(s) I’ve checked a couple out && you do some great editing, always on point too good sh!t. I’m finally ready to buy a Z or G but I’m still torn between them. Hardly any 6speeds of either that are close to me. Did you look at G35’s or was it always gonna be a Z? Keep up the good work dude I’m subbed fo sho🔥🐍 👍
Not sure where you live but in MN the boxes for the booster come in handy my g35 has 250k and my master cylinder looks brand new my 95 g20 and 97 q45t probably should be replaced
My problem with my z is the electrical issue in the door windows. I heard this is a common issue with the Z also the HIDs I love HID but am thinking of going LED to get rid of the HID because their rediculous now and trying to get to the bulb is dumb because you have to remove the bumper to do it. But even with all of its problems I don't think I'll ever get rid of it I love it so much.
Good news for you , hope this helps you feel better , the truth is out of all the Cars I had and went thru they all have their own different problems just like how you were describing, some so ridiculous, some are small, some just doesn't make sense, some of the problems are cheap and some are very expensive, like your friends Car thier can be 26 sensors that can turn that check engine light on, long story short every Car sooner or later will have some kind of problem, I hope this truth made you feel better and also if your car is worth 12000.00 or 12million guess which Car Is going to cost more to fix, if you didn't know that now you know from Joey in Honolulu , Honolulu , Hawaii , Aloha 😎
@@LowSo Ah so if im definitely trying to monetize, probably shouldn't use instrumentals then even if they slip? haha. thanks for the vids btw. Finding a 350z is hard as hell compared to finding a decent G it seems like though.
I have a 08 hr San Marino Blue touring edition And i agee with what you say The cabin clatter sucks The interior could of been just black or tan plastics My paint sucks and needs to be sanded and re-clear coat it Everything is chipping or tarnishing but i still like it
one day I was driving home from work in my 04 z. It was cold as fuck, windy, snowing and just horrible. I had about 30 min before I was home. Out of nowhere my driver side window just rolled down. I was hit with a winter bukkaki in the face. And for the rest of the drive the window would not roll up. I got home, put it in the garage. Then the next day it just worked. It was like a big FU prank from my car.
cool :) I never drove either, but from the datas and reputation, it's quite different... like 350Z is the initial d kind of car, and 300ZX is more like wangan midnight :D but then both are Fairlady Z's....
I was in the bmw forums for more than 10 years...we are known to be d bags...but we got alone and always pushing it...my350z forum? A whole bunch of frustrated people dreaming about pro racing in a car proven to have no power to compete on any category...my car has tons of power and enjoy the street driving....but from engine to tail...everything has failed at least once..if not twice. Great video dude, very on point. Dont buy this car because everybody abuses this car...engine is a gamble....
Had a z31 ended up totaling out want a z32 but road tripping cross country next year and don't feel like all the work inot a 20 year old car is worth it especially after the 87 so probably just gonna hop on a z33 for like 5k throw 2-3k at it and send it needs more resonators
@@LowSo please understand, I don't mean any offense. 350Z's are a Nissan/Renault product. Renault is known for pushing cheap interior and quality is 50/50 chance. The engine is all Nissan. They also have CVT transmissions. Nissan was okay with ppl working on their cars. Renault is not. They designed the body to make it difficult to work on the engine. The enclosed boxes for brake fluid and battery function as a heat shield. That is actually a good thing, but aluminum is the way to go. Ultimately, the 350Z was supposed to be the answer to us not having a mid-range sports car and the original Nissan design was great. Renault ruined it when Nissan sold them most of their US and Euro market shares. Believe it or not, Kia is moving in the right direction. The Kia stringer is a fantastic alternative that will one day be the replacement. Toyota and Nissan are on their way out in terms of quality. Hyundai is cheap. Genesis is good, Honda is still good, and Kia is good. I haven't bought a car newer than 1998. I build all my own cars. I usually recommend cars with good building potential rather than newer cheapo cars. I have a 1993 Nissan SE-R and a 2000 Honda Civic. A little modification and the only thing that has smoked me is a twin turbo porsche, understandably. New cars have so little room to improve on them. Even bolt-ons are more difficult than they used to be. But there is no use discussing electronics and interior because it is designed to fail under more than weekend use. French car companies rub me the wrong way. So I guess don't blame Nissan for the interior entirely, but do blame them for selling out to a French company.
The engine motors burn out. pretty common thing actually, theyre like 50 bucks, might as well buy a few and have them in stock in case they go out on a bad day
Bullshit. My 2004 is still MINT. But that's probably because i got the track version or... the European versions just got better paint. New price of 350z's here was like 50.000 euro though. (they only sold track editions here full option)
