My moustache never hits terminal: beard does. Just as a "let's see" I could pull it down to my chin before I cut it, though I'd side swipe it to part. And then I could eat Pho again like a human being.
For anyone who's worrying ... There's worser "terminals " to worry about in this world , just rock whatever beard you can muster up and be confident wearing it .

I gotta say, you got a pretty good advertising strategy with the informative videos and the plugin products at the end.
We try to keep to the 80/20 rule and provide and give information 80% of the time, and then about 20% of the time promote our company to help keep the lights on. It's a balancing act, but education & value are always the top priority.

Thanks for being so transparent about it. My comment was meant to be more of a compliment, than criticism. I can only imagine the effort and resources ($$$) it takes to run the business side of things and come up with such high quality content, which I really enjoy. Keep em coming!
When I first started to grow a beard I made a view mistakes. I looked into the mirror many times a day to see how it grows. At first it felt like it gets fast but the longer it got the more i felt like it doesn't grow that fast anymore, but that was just because when there's no beard or at least a very short one you're able to see every millimetre but the longer it gets the less you're able to see the difference. So I decided to stop looking at my beard many times a day and just let it grow and just took a closer look once or twice a week. What I learned is it doesn't come over night just give it some time and don't worry to much about it.
It happened to me when i was 18 i kept checking out my beard until I got discouraged and removed it, and everytime I remove it without letting it reach the full potential.
3.5 years for me too. I wanted a beard down to my waist like the competition guys but unfortunately I’m pretty sure it stopped getting longer after about 2 years. Also I’ve seen people with 1 year and their beard is longer than mine. I’m never sure whether to persevere or go short 😞

People stop me and say they are mad at me for growing an awesome beard. A lot of people have the 2inch beard thing. I thought it was because they wanted it short for some reason. I'm a year in and this thing is bulking up pretty well. I just leave it alone and , yeah....FINALLY, SOMEONE WHO JUST LAYS IT OUT THERE. GREAT VID. RESPECT.
Same here! I always tell them to just let it grow. Mine grew in slowly from the first year. After that is filled out and gained length. I'm just about 2 years of growth and my beard is past the middle of my chest and at terminal length

It's true what you said about allowing the underpart to grow. I've got a strong goatee area, but patchy-ish cheeks and I've always been self-conscious about them, I started growing under my jaw about a month ago (My facial hair grows quite slow) but I've already noticed a huge difference.
Killing it with the hair! Ever thought about growing your hair out more, and maybe go for a Josh Mario look? I think you could kill it, especially with your beard.
I wanna get a full beard (cheeks, mustache, chin & neck) all even...but only enough to make it look neat. Im on month 2 its looking full so far. Cant wait till month 4 😊
WOW This video was very informative! I always knew that the under chin area made up a huge bulk of the beard mass but didn't know it was that important. I'm glad my under chin area is extremely bulky and thick. Hopefully that area can make up for my average to slightly patchy cheeks.
its called an anogen phase. Hair grows and gets cut off at the follicle at a certain rate. that determines the lenght of the beard and the shed rate. but you put it extremely well in "normal" terms.
Why's my facial hair thicker/denser on the left side of my face than the right side? Will this ever even out as I get older? As a side-note, I'm only twenty years old, so it could just be the case that I'm still maturing and developing. Could it perhaps have something to do having had slightly increased sun exposure on the left side of my face due to driving on the left side of my vehicle?

This video really helped. I realised what I was doing wrong. I was shaving my neck and the underside the whole time. I didnt realise that was where most of it beard comes from.
Michael hair had a life cycle. it's not a length, it's a time. you can shave it for its entire life and it would still stop growing and fall out. he didn't really explain well here but you can Google it for sure
My handle bars have decent length past the chin, but I've noticed the left is significantly thicker than the right. It's something only I could notice, but any idea why that is?
Ive grown mine out for over 8 years and I've wondered why it hasn't gotten much (if any) longer for about 6 years now. Never trimmed it once. My pic on here was about 3 or 4 years ago
For some reason my stache grows at an insane rate. It’s supposed to be half an inch a month growth rate. My 3 week stache is like a 6-7 week stache. My beard is crap though very patchy and doesn’t really grow much on my cheeks. Win some you lose some 🤷🏻♂️
My moustache hairs reach terminal within a month and never grow longer than half an inch. Haven't touched my moustache in over a year and it's never grown thicker or longer. And whenever I do a whole face shave it'll take 6 months of trimming the beard before the moustache catches up
I understand that shedding is a natural thing and that your beard reaches a terminal length, but what if you use Biotin? It's supposed to help with hair and nail growth but would that help the hair grow longer over the lifespan of that follicle?

i've been growing my beard out since last september. For the last month or so it looks like it hasnt grown at all. it may just be the length its at that i don't notice length change. But when i comb my beard a fair few hairs will come out quite easily and at the end of the day i'll always have one or two beards hairs on my top.

Ive been growing my beard for a year now Ive noticed it slowed down a great deal. I thought it was cause its getting wavy. This video answered alot of my questions.
My left side grows about twice as fast as the right side. And the right side goes in all kinds of weird directions. I probably trimed 6 inch off the bottom of my beard just to let the front catch up.. Because it looks ridiculous with long neck hair hanging down and then my chin is about one-third the length. And from the side it looks like two separate beards. So lots of trimming over the 3 years I've been growing.
HUH! I thought it had to do with how thick the individual hair was versus the wear that happens to it. Like the length of my arm hair in the summer when I'm not wearing long sleeves versus winter time when I am. Thicker, faster growing hair can get longer before the ends wear down versus thinner hair. I know my arm hair grows fairly fast (you know the common knife sharpness test), but it's thin so it doesn't get more than about an inch to an inch and a half in the summer time. Also, look at folks who have had their arm in a cast. The hair is protected from abrasion and can grown long and thick. It goes away a few weeks afterwards when the normal wear and tear returns. That's always been my theory, anyway.
I have a super patchy beard and thankfully my sides burns have have joined to my chin hair/goatee, BUT only on the right side of my face. On my left side, you can literally see a half inch gap between the bottom of my side burns and my chin hair. Basically there is a gap just under my cheek bone between the side burns and my goatee/chin hair. Please help me, I literally just want the hair to join so I have a complete look and can at least be proud that my beard joins
With your mustache as long as it is, how do you eat without it getting food in it? I'm working to grow mine out and it's at that awkward stage where it's curling over my lip. Would now be the time to start putting wax on it to shape it? Also, it seems like my beard has hit a terminal length of about five inches or so despite trying to grow it for several years. When I comb it, I'll have hairs come out in the comb so I'm curious if I'm doing anything wrong. Any suggestions for my dilemmas? As always, beard on!
Hey Eric, when u had long hair did you use conditioner every time you washed your head? My hair is long now and because I have a pretty strong hair if I don't use it becomes a little dry, What products did u use? I've tried argan oil but it just makes my hair oily and I don't see any benefits on my type of hair Thanks
Been growing my current beard since March 25th 2015. Hit six inches in length in August 2015... and it hasn't gotten any longer since then. Trimmed it twice, not losing any length, just cleaning the strays for two weddings last fall... but that's it. Kinda bummed, was hoping I could grow it long enough to braid, but it is what it is I guess.
My beard has about 8 months of growth. It's now pretty long, I take good care of it. But it's starting to get grey. I don't want to dye it because my beard is red, black and brown.. it looks really good, do you know of a remedy to get rid of grey w/o using dye. Thank you
I have a chin strap beard that curls and is basicly always a mess, i tried combing it with the hairdryer after washing and oiling it too. I cant straighten it out. But what bugs me the most is, it does not grow well. And little to no hair at all on my cheeks or underneath my mouth. Its really only my jawline and where my chin meets my neck. I would really love to have a longer beard and more hair under my mouth on the chin and on my cheeks. Any advice as to how i can get it to grow better?

Super interesting question. From what read it looks like there isn't a definitive answer. Our hair and beard does not stop growing at a particular length or age but when the growth cycle ends. This is different on a variety of factors including race, age, lifestyle and genetics. Thanks for the support!
For anyone who might see this, how would one go about straightening a very curly and dense beard? The hair itself is pretty long, but it's so curly it stays densely packed. I've heard using a heated beard brush helps, is this true? If not, are there other ways? Or am I just SOL?
but the age is an important point. my mustache has so thin and short hair but i am 20 so i am sure in 5 years the hair is strong like the other parts in my face.
Don't worry man I could not grow a proper beard in my early 20's but now in my late 20's it's coming in great and I have more control and styling options. It's awesome!!!
My beard is even with my belt, i have had it for 15 years, about every 3 months i have to trim it to keep it the same length, does this make me a freak of nature ?

You never really explained why terminal length exists. It's not that the beard isn't growing anymore, but because its end don't get enough energy and break off.
Not to be contrary but I'm pretty sure beards usually do stop growing eventually. I remember doing something in an anthropology class where we drew what people would look like if they never shaved anything and there is an average maximum head hair length of around 6 feet, and I believe the beard is the same, although there are people who genetically do not have the stopping mechanism and can grow infinite hair (not actually infinite). If I'm wrong, someone correct me because I'm carrying this around in my head like fact.

ELDARFIGO not everyone can grow a proper beard in their younger ages. Some people can’t grow full beards until 30-40-50 years old.... just give it time.

Hey Eric got a question ~ right now I am 17, will be 18 in October. My cheeks and mustache have always been strong as fair as with hair coverage. The area I struggle with though is the goatee area aka the chin, under the lip, etc. I was just curious if that is usually the area that comes in last. On some guys I have noticed that they can grow very strong goatees but have patches on their cheeks. Thanks man
Erik BC Under the lip is a slow growing bit buddy 😀, I'm 19 and have a full beard and I had two patches either side of my soul patch, but they have now filled in, it just takes time and age.
Erik BC wow, I'm 17 and have a decent mustache, soul patch and gotee, and rocking a natural Balbo beard, but its clean in the cheeks- almost opposite as you said I guess its all genetics and you should wait for you time and groom what you have till then.

Within "normal" range. Depends mostly on genetics. Regardless, very impressive for a 15 year old! To give you an idea, I'm in late 20's and have some dark hairs on my cheeckbones, them hairs only appeared there a year or so ago, along with shoulder cap hairs..
I can grow a great beard BUT I can't grow a lot of hair on my neck. When I grow my beard out I can see my neck/throat through my beard. It bugs the hell out of me seeing through my beard!
