And he has 0 catalog outside of his group efforts alongside big boi who actually has solo work outside of his group, big boi should be the real atl goat then right?
I'm a huge fan of Outkast BUT they don't owe us anything. Love the fact that Big Boi is still rapping, I also love the fact that Dre is exploring different avenues. Let them live, in time they may just drop a final album. Tribe did it before Phife passed.
Phife passed before the album came out. That MF stayed in rotation in 2016 tho.

They can't complain about the state of music especially Hip Hop and not do shit same goes for E40 who complain but works with the same artist that do what he complains about
Andre did Andre. He gave up the opportunity to earn additional millions to have his peace. Athletes do it all the time even if they could have played additional years. With his recent album, he wasn’t trying to force it on anyone or even in the Hip Hop Category. He admits that he doesn’t even recognize music notes and he’s just freestyling it. Yet it’s selling and people are giving it a chance with themselves and not as a group.
@@imosespeople usually reject music that’s foreign to the ear. Can’t get more foreign to the ear than this album, especially coming from 3stacks. This is proof of how powerful and effective marketing is. If you market something right, people will buy into it no matter what. Dre and his team has been marketing this album for years without y’all even knowing it.
@@MurphMagic1 I would disagree with that assertion regarding what's new to the ear. It's not "people" who are rejecting it, it is certain people. The same would hold true for any form of music. People are diverse. Some reject it if it doesn't fit in a box, others' ears are bigger. From what you're saying about marketing, you seem to presume that it's garbage. I don't. It's good stuff. I enjoy it. My friends enjoy it. My musician and rapper friends dig it. Wu Tang Clan's The RZA loves it. He said he and wifey keep it on constant rotation at the pad. I write, compose and produce music. The type of music on New Blue Sun is not foreign to me. I hear the nuance, textures and balance in it. I'm a guitarist, vocalist and keyboard player who plays a number of other instruments too. I've participated in collaborative improv jams like this with groups of musicians and with bands I've been in as well. Wicked (and maybe you too) doesn't get what's happening given that he said it's not composed. Of course they're not traditional compositions, they're collaborative improvisations from Andre and a group of trained musicians. If one tries to see and assess it in the same way as a hip hop record, then they have on the wrong pair of glasses. I get that folks wanted to see Andre do a record with bars. I did too. But I LOVE to see people explore beyond the expected boundaries aka be themselves. This is what differentiates a performer from an artist. To step out unafraid. This man knew he wasn't gonna sell as many records as an OutKast project. He wanted to share where he's at and what he's into. Last weekend I performed a spoken word to track one at an open mic and got rave reviews. It inspired me to create... the way it sounds and because it thinks outside of the box. I think that's what Andre wanted to happen... for creatives to be inspired and for people to be able to find some peace and healing in it.
Yes he does owe his fans, we made him a somebody to the world. Without his fans he would be the average joe no one cares about….no matter how good of a rapper he is. Andre is in the service business, and the flute album was a smack in the face to all has customer’s.
Some of yall have low comprehension. This isn't about what he owes. This is about who he is. If he can talk to them, then why won't he talk to you. He does want something... And he has spoken on his insecurities with expectations.
@@LurnWellTHANK YOU. He’s fighting to be part of something that the rest of his “fans” aren’t apart of. He doesn’t want rap, but he wants the adulation he gets from not rapping. The “idea” of Andre has surpassed the reality of Andre, and his “fans” don’t recognize it.
Andre 3000 was not put on this planet to do what WE want. He did something great for a period of time and the world responded positively. That phase of Andre's life is complete, and he has chosen to move on. He gave us his time, energy, and spirit. He did this of his own free will. He never inherently OWED us his time, energy, and spirit. That's just what we ACT like.
Its nothing wrong making a change in your life .Andre growth is more important that brother getting Blessed can't talk down are make fun on a man who being Blessed..Andre still my favorite rapper of all time I love the new him God Blessed 3000 .love from Houston Texas
Hip hop has been poisoned and is offering nothing but death, control and bondage. I think Andre 3000 saw that...In choosing life i applaud his switch... Everyone needs to follow the piper back into artist freedom of creativity... like his album is. His album freed me from some things.
@@timlenord1 right...I can't handle that toxic energy anymore especially when it's in the air when I walk out my door...It was refreshing in my opinion
Uh.... but didn't he always rap from a different perspective... taking a left from " that negative energy " that has become the norm AKA mediocre... the opposite of what he is? He was already exercising his artistic freedom as a lyricist before the switch. Isn't that what made him a great and unique emcee to begin with? Great artist are always a breath of fresh air when they're dropping substance within their genre amidst mediocrity and poor quality of their genre.
Andre 3000 is a introvert that’s why it’s critical for him to vibe in his peace, it’s kind of like a high to vibrate in peace when you’re a introvert doing what you want to do.
Anyone who feels this way is just a fan who loves him but truly misses him. No hate from Wicked. He just wants one of the Goats to be there. But at the end of the day Dre can do what he wants and ppl have to accept that. I’m just saying 🤷🏾♂️
I definitely respect Andree 3000's choice to do whatever the hell he wants to do. He's earned it. ........... But ..... MAN I WANT ANOTHER RUN OF OUTKAST ALBUMS!
If you wasn't there when OutKast dropped an album and the first time you heard it. Whewwwwwwwww!!!! You don't know what you missed. It WAS WHAT THE SOUTH sounded like at the time or WHAT THEY were showing WHAT IT COULD BE. Glad they dropped their peace of work on everyone and kept it moving.
I personally love his new flute album...3000 just trying to get everyone to meditate and find your true self...I listen to it when I want to relax and free my mind from the 🌎 🤷🤷
Wicked just truly has hurt feelings. It’s so sad that he can’t respect Andre’s creative and life choices. This tells me he was never a real fan. It’s just like fake friends who switch up the first time you tell them “NO”. Now they don’t like your anymore. 🤷🏾♂️
Black folks treat each other worse than anybody else on the planet. Hip Hop was a baby that grew up and turned into what it is today. No other genre of music has an age limit placed on it by its fans. That sh*t is stupid as f*ck. And I'm a old head. I was there in the beginning- mc'ing, breaking, tagging, dj'ing. I love what we did and I love what they're doing today. Keep it going and never stop!
i agree with most of what you saying except for what they doing today, because what they doing today is crap and i think andre was saying he just can't do what there doing today.
Wicked needs to broaden his horizons, look I would love to hear some Andre 3000 raps but if his mindset is not into that right now I respect and his album is dope!!
ANDRE TOLD US BIG BOI WAS THE BETTER MC in the Vibe magazine article. He can't make an album bcuz Big Boi did majority of the concepts, hooks and most songs 2 verses lol!
I think people is missing this point that Big Boi should be the one held in the top 5. Big Boi been dropping OutKast Albums on the low. I can tell he came up with a lot of those songs because a lot of his solo albums sound like a OutKast album if Dre was on it.
@eugenecotton7449 Only reals one know, especially Big Boi musical journey wo Dre. Each solo album and joint albums w Big Grams shows this. Dre has yet to make an A or Kill Jill etc.
@user-cf6kr4ry8d I love 3K, just always thought Big was a little better, due 2 flows, street tawk. They neck 2 neck on bars. Speakerboxx over Love below 2 lol. Take that Hey ya crap w u
For the life of me, I can’t comprehend how Wicked or anyone else for that matter can be bitter and against another grown man doing what they want to do with their life. 3000 owes us not a damn thing. If his new music isn’t for you, it just ain’t for you. The problem with society today is the fact that we get disappointed when people can’t be what we want them to be for US. No one is concerned about 3000 himself or will empathize with his life’s journey, only what he can do for us as FANS. Weird energy at its worst. Enjoy the man’s legacy for what it was and RESPECT him for whatever decision that doesn’t pander to our needs.
@@MJi630 People like him have a dangerous soul. He’s passionate within his disdain for 3000. The question that I have is… how and why is 3000’s personal and professional decisions/endeavors affecting him? Unfortunately there are many toxic thinking people who co-signs this ignorance
@julianmckinney4597 Im a grown ass kid you know I aint never cared bout no damn money why do we try so hard to be stars just to dodge comments (or is it comets? Lol) Then he also said "And this the type of shit that'll make you call your rap potna and say I'm sorry I'm awkward my fault for fuq'n up the tours..." So he CLEARLY knows what he's doing. Still love him tho! Been a fan since the beginning.
My only issue is when we make them famous, they don’t show up to blk shows or do interviews with us no more. We made these artist, but they don’t show up for our shows and awards ceremonies. Just sayin. 3000 should be coming to speak to us also.
Fuck the game. Give us your Magnum Opus. We got Pacs and Bigs and Jay's and Nas's and Ice Cubes and Scarface's and Snoop's and TI's etc. We don't have one from this guy because he don't have it in him. He's a nice co-rapper in a group.
@andremiller1566 I'm talking about the rap game not game the rapper he trash to me have read the comment again they not talking about game this about Andre 3000
This is a very interesting discussion. Some very valid points made by both. I’m actually in the middle-I agree with Andre and, to a degree, with Galaxy or Jupiter Wick. Starting with Wick, I totally understand where he is coming from. Just being out there shows a sign of solidarity with the greater ATL music community and just his presence as a supporter speaks volumes. Here’s where I truly believe Andre’s inner conflicts become an issue. Disclaimer, I could be 100% wrong but here’s my best educated guess, from the outside looking in. I believe Andre has probably always secretly resented the direction of ATL rap from the late 90s to present, with the “Trap era”. I don’t believe he hates any trap artists, in fact, he likely has good relationships with many of them. But the direction of this art form and how it has defined ATL culture is what I think he resents. He probably doesn’t feel like that music or culture represents him or how he wants himself or his city to be presented worldwide. I know others have probably felt this way for years but never spoke openly about it. It was hard enough when they were coming up, just getting respect from the South. It would be way harder for an OutKast to make it in today’s mainstream music and some resent that a lot of artists from the city have made it that way. I don’t think it’s silent protest from Andre, but rather, knowing that he doesn’t have to do anything he doesn’t want and he just lets his actions speak for him. You can read a person by their actions and how they really move compared to what they say. That’s how it appears to me, which he has every right to feel that way if true, but again, I could be wrong. OutKast then, still OutKast today.
I feel you Wick. 3K has not wanted anything to do with Hip Hop for 20 years. He's said it over and over again. We just need to believe him and let it go. And B High, HE DIDN'T WANT TO DO THAT REUNION TOUR EITHER! Google his comments about it.
B. High's argument can be torn up with one simple fact: Outkast made a double album out of a solo album each. Speculation of a break up came about with this move alone, and yet they both found a way to stand together and rep the name!
The Flute album hard. My favorite track is ‘That Night In Hawaii When I Turned Into A Panther And Started Making These Low Register Purring Tones That I Couldn't Control ... Sh¥t Was Wild’
If it wasn't for HIT HOP who would even listen to him at all, let alone a flute album. Respect the Culture and what paved the way to express your so called opinion to say no.
I typically defend Andre 3000 on everything but, I get what Galaxy is saying. For me personally. The features are fine. The flute album is a vibe. It ain't gotta be a new rap album but, at least honor and celebrate the OutKast legacy and 50 years of Hip Hop with at least your presence in certain important instances. I do think it's wack that we haven't seen 3000 or Jay-Z rock a mic or a stage once yet this year. I say yet because New Year's Eve so, maybe there's still hope idk 🤷🏾♂️
People keep forgetting Outkast are not just rappers. They are multifaceted CREATIVES. DF are in tune with the most High and if He said play the flute, thats what tf he gonna do! Goodie told the gangstas years ago to play their flute! And the time came. New Blue Sun has helped my anxiety (I’m a war vet) so thanks 3k!
Dre coulda gave us a 5 song ep and we the people would’ve been happy and satisfied. And he has a lot to rap about, life is a never ending story. Let us know how you been dawg
I understand where Wicked and B High is coming. But at the end of the day, Andre 3000 is a full grow man. If he don't want to rap, he don't have to rap. As you get older, you changed and there's nothing wrong with that. Y'all just has to respect his decision and leave him alone. Let that brother live his life.
Smh some of yall forgot how hip hop begun. André 3000 is just doing what everyone was doing in the beginning of hip hop. He’s really creating a new sound, playing with an instrument that’s not used in hip hop. He stands out from everyone. Hip hop today has less creativity…. In the beginning they played with sounds, instruments, words, just having fun trying to be different from the next. Now everyone sound the same, and you can’t tell who is who. Get out your feelings André 3000 don’t owe us anything.
I was a part of the security team for those three shows, and I knew the promoters. It was originally going to be at Phillips arena for one night, but they didnt think Kast would sell out the place. So they got the permits for Centennial. The original day sold out in less than 5min..with people calling from around the world...yes other countries still trying to purchase tickets. So they went back and offered Kast more money for the second day. The second sold out in less than 3min. So they went back to Kast and offered more money for a third show. That show sold out in less than 5min. lol...the promoter said that had they known the impact, they would have booked the arena for one epic night. Fun Fact: if you were there on day one, I was the security guy whose back Janele Monet jumped on while she was singing...lol...Epic three nights.
I feel like I remember around 2006 with that Walk it out remix and the Andre 3000 everybody started calling him GOAT even more and claiming he is this deep lyricist.
My thing is why is there so much criticism and slighting about his choice of not wanting to rap or make hip-hop records anymore? that's his choice. just respect that. you might not like it, but at least respect it. But come on man, this aint it. Thank you B-high for your opinion
Andre is a genius yall better wake tf up he increasing da frequency of the planet that flute hit different play it every morning n see how good you feel inside
You can't tell that man to change who he is and keep thinking like those who haven't gotten there yet. We change with age and wisdom comes with that. You can't critique him.
