WIG / TOPPER Q&A - Which Topper or WIG Should You Get For Your FIRST ONE? 

I own 2 different colors of Top Notch (because of you!). I own both colors that you have....12FS8 (Shaded Praline) and Shaded Mocha . I absolutely love them both and my bio hair is a color that miraculously blends with both. I am planning to get a third topper, another Top Notch in one of the Palm Spring Blonde colors (12FS12) which I hear is just like the 12FS8 but with a lighter root. I don't need coverage, I just have very thin, fine hair that is hard to put volume in. (Not that this topper would not work amazing for people with thinning spots on top--the coverage is incredible and the "scalp" is as realistic as the real thing in my opinion!) My toppers have changed my life! I no longer take an hour to do my hair...just a quick blow dry with a round brush, then I slip the topper on, brush through my hair to blend it all together and I'm done. Sometimes I take an extra 10 seconds to clip it back on one or both sides, but that's it. I feel like my hair looks nice EVERY DAY....no more bad hair days! Personally, I don't want anyone to know I have on a topper, so it is very important for me to blend it with my bio hair. I must be doing a great job, because last time I went to my hair dresser, I sat down in her chair and proceeded to un-clip the thing and her jaw literally dropped. She had no clue I had a topper on. She went on and on about it...Jon Renau's Top Notch is amazing in my book. I'm almost afraid to try another because I'm afraid it cant live up to Jon Renau! And yes, they are expensive, they are an investment, but I haven't been to the hairdresser since the week before Thanksgiving, and my hair still looks amazing. Because the topper covers the roots (and I use root cover up powder around my face), no one but me knows that my roots need done. I'm pretty sure I won't need another appointment for another couple of months, and that will more than likely be because the length will be getting on my nerves. So for me, a topper is cheaper by far than going to a hairdresser every 6 weeks or so. Sorry for the long post, but I guess I had a lot to say! I hope this helps someone. Hi Jill I have serious hair loss, so in Nov my husband dragged me to a wig shop. Remembering the heavy hot wigs of my high school days (when I didn't need one, but it was all the rage) I absolutely didn't want anything to do with a wig. Thankfully, the proprietor knew her business very well, because the first one she put on me, was darling and fit my coloring, personality, etc. After watching your videos, I find that my first and only wig so far has the moleskin nape and ear tabs, the mono part,the lace front and wefting. All the things you said were vital, and I didn't know anything about anything. Thank the Lord for that wig store proprietor for really knowing her business and you for your informative videos. Now I'm wanting a second one, and I'll know what to look for. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge thru videos and helping people like me to have the confidence to go out in public once again!

HI! ok the first time I saw a video on toppers I bought it! I didn't even think about what color to purchase I just bought what you had on. Of course it was shaded praline! lol Well I am not a blonde I am a warm brown however it allowed me to sorta be a blonde highlighted gal! I think its very nice that you don't have to match your hair color. I did like how you tried the darker topper it made your eyes pop BUT I have gotten so used to seeing you blonde that I think of you as a BLONDE! ok so I am going to be trying more colors now. I am definitely loving the videos on shading, lip colors, and make up for mature women. Wigs and toppers are now my new accessory for fashion. Keep up the good work!

If people can walk around with pink, purple, blue, orange etc going thru their hairs, what's a little diiferent color in a topper and our bio hair :)

I love this one on you Jill. It is a journey and expensive. I pretty much wear the same few now but wish they lasted longer. I’m in a “tired of wigs” phase...was just thinking today that I need to switch to a topper for a while. You look great! What lipstick color/brand are you wearing? So pretty! 😘😘😘

I have a tiny little scar on my forehead on the right that I like to cover up. So I have to wear my bangs slightly to the side :-( I wear an EasiPart HD XL topper by Jon Renau and I let my "Natural" bio hair bangs show. But when I do, then the line on the front of the topper shows and I have to wear my SqHair Headband to hide the line. I was wondering if there was another way to hide that line.

It is very hard to give other people advice on any of this. Unfortunately, each of us has to go through a trial and error learning period. I started wearing helper hair about five years ago and I made about $4000 worth of mistakes, I will admit it. I have purchased 40 wigs. I gave away 14 of them last year, some of them very expensive. I was never going to wear them, they were brand new and I just don't return things. Money sunk, but now I know exactly what looks good on me and I love all the pieces I have. I feel completely confident going forward. I do have biohair, it is just getting thinner the older I get. I wear it just past my shoulders and it looks like my avatar photo here, just a bit thinner. This is Minka by Jon Renau. A fantastic wig. That said, for a starter topper, I like Jon Renau's Easipart XL HD. I wore it to a wedding in Connecticut last summer, super hot and humid and it held up beautifully. I could wear my own hair up for one event and then slip on the Easipart for the next and no one knew the difference. It was totally comfortable. I believe it is 12". I agree, get as much as your budget can allow. I would start with Kristi by Jon Renau if I were to pick one wig to start with. It's a beautiful, realistic wig. OK, I am sorry to rant on. Hi Jill my other comment is down below I made first but I went back and watched your other one showing me, in I think it was May your shaded biscuit and it was the lace front topper, so you answered that question for me. Are you wearing the shaded biscuit now? It looks different from your other video. I like it but it's also you know to thin in the back like you said but I just have to figure out which color please tell me if this is shaded biscuits you are wearing now? take care hugs.

Hello Jill I'm glad you gave some information on toppers .I purchased a wig for the first time and it was way too long ,nothing like on the girl and I paid a really high price for it.but I know I need to cut it and thin it some because it just looks like too much hair for my head.my hair is thinning on top and at the crown so I need to get something that would blend with my hair. So thanks for your tips.I love what you're wearing I thought it was your own hair till you said it wasn't.it matches because of your dark hair at the bottom and then the root is dark.but in front it looks like your natural hair can you tell me is that your natural hair in front? I wear my hair in front to the side like you wear yours.So that's why I'm asking.sorry if I'm talking too much I've only seen you twice on here and really liked you so we'll be listening more Happy Valentine's day Jill ❤👍

Where would you suggest I search to find a topper with a few bangs? For some reason my bangs will no longer grow. As a matter of fact, they have become brittle and are breaking off on the right side. I have no idea what is causing this. Thanks for your help. 💕

Hi Jill Thank you for being so helpful and informative I have a huge disappointment after viewing your video with the Jackson in creamy toffee today I finally am really ready to purchase this especially understanding the price is under $100 but I went to the website and it’s $179 and change I am finally starting to accessorizing with wigs and am not comfortable to make a larger investment until I have found my comfort zone Please advise if there is any coupon promo code etc ....for the price to be under $100 as you stated Please advise Thank you Lisa

Hi Jill, great video and advise....my question is do toppers last longer than wigs? I have heard the lifespan of wigs are not very long, and are the caps on toppers the same as a wig cap ...if the wind blows will the cap show?

Hi Jill! I have a question. When I wear my topper, I usually place it about an inch behind my front hairline. Here's my problem... I try to blend my hair into the topper at my front, my hair is so thin in the front that I hardly can hide the front of the topper.. What can I do ??
