Will Canon's Competitor to the Sony a7 III be OVER-PRICED? 

Thanks for that, Matt. I have no idea what Canon is going to do, but I think that they would be wise to not limit or disable as many features as they recently did in the (still wonderful) M50. That seems to upset people (me included), and I think it is just bad marketing.

I spoke to an insider a few days ago, he said that there is no definite date or pricing for the new ILC Mirrorless bodies that are rumored. But that he feels that they will throw the whole tech sink at them and that the pricing should mimic 5DMk4 and 5DS just like you said. I am keeping my hopes up since I have a nice suit of lenses to use with them.

When you read the comentary from drutgat2 which I agree with, then read bassanglers73 comments - you really do wonder. We simply do not have the full specs from Nikon yet - wait unti 23rd for informed commentary on that. As for Canon. Their track record with crippled 4K and recent releases, especially when compared to other camera manufacturers such as Panasonic and Fuji let alone Sony (A9, A7RIII, A7III and soon to be announced A7SIII) - does for me at least puzzle me why people think Sony are going to lose any sleep or sit on their laurels - a criticism you could aim at the other "so called" Big 2. Time as ever will tell. We watch with interest.

I think Canon will make the price around 3600€ in Europe and I hope they will stay with EF mount,if they make EF mount ,50MP sensor from 5DSR,two memory card slot,good battery,tilt screen(touchscreen) ,weather sealed body,good stabilization,more autofocus dots,good dynamic range,15fps,nice compact body design and dslr grip...and more and more other stuff than ill buy it! :D cheers

Canon most certainly will have something, we just don't know what it is yet. I would bet it would be priced to compete, but here is the thing. When you take all the factors into consideration the Canon will be cheaper than the Sony even if the body cost a bit more. Canon will most likely make it so that their current line of lenses will be able to mount to the camera, probably through an adaptor. This gives them a huge advantage since Canon has a lot of lenses that are inexpensive but also effective (meaning 500 or less). This is something Sony is seriously lacking in, and I think will be a long time before they address it since they seem to be more focused on the higher level stuff (400mm F2.8 looks great, but who can afford it?). Most of what they have starts at 500 and goes up from there. And from what I hear from the people that have used their "budget" lenses, most of the lenses at that price from Sony are just not worth getting excited about. I haven't used them, so I can't speak for it on my own, and I don't really know a lot of Sony users either (mostly people I run into at photo shops). I have used most of Canon's budget lenses and can say that they really know how to make a good but cheap lens. The 50mm F1.8 is probably the best value in all of photography, along with the 24mm and 40mm F2.8 pancakes, the 70-300mm IS II or the 55-250mm IS STM, and so on. You can also bet that the Canon will not have issues like overheating and will be built to last a long time. Something we don't know about Sony jsut yet is how long they will last, since they are still so new. There are people out there still using Canon's that as much as 10 years old, or even older. Sony has not been known to build things that go the distance in their other products, and even though that doesn't mean the same here I suspect that there is a reason the A7III is so inexpensive. Build quality is a big part of that suspicion. Since there will be no mirror to interfere, I kinda hope they allow for the use of EF-S lenses on the FF mirrorless, the same way Nikon and Sony do on their FF cameras, where the camera goes into a crop mode when it sees the EF-S lenses. This would be a very good idea for Canon to do. Not a lot of hope for it to happen, but would be good. This opens the door for all their entry level users to get a FF mirrorless right out the gate, and that is a LOT of people. They own the entry level market, no contest.

Both Canon and Nikon will have to be have to be very competitive. In order to sell their products. Sony have a good start.

Canon, I believe put it's toes in the mirrorless field with the M-50 to see what the market would bring. If you remember, it was in the early days of ML. Now, I believe, it will have to put up or concede the market to someone else. I also believe if they want to continue, they will need to get serious or lose out altogether to the smartphone market. That means going all out to make it easier to share and transfer out of camera quickly and simply. They need to put all their tools of their high end cameras into a great mirrorless product, or else they will be signing out. Pretty sure they have their ideas all set, but they might want to wait to see what Nikon does in case they might want to tweak their specs. Times, they are a changing and it is put up or shut up.

i think sony price is low due to body build quality and body size , less durable material and weather sealing . Canon have better built quality also Nikon . very well all weather bodies .

I beleive that sony a7III has some issues on the video footage. Is that true?

If the Canon and Nikon FF mirrorless cameras are bigger, and more durable, then surely they could stand a slightly higher price than Sony, as long as they have the other features. The question for them will be how much more will their fanboys pay?

If Canon had 2 brain cells, they would use all the feedback or lack off of the M50 to develop a Sony and a Nikon killer with their new focus system, which is better than Sony. I love Nikon but if they don't deliver, it's over, good night!!

After Nikon kills Sony in stills, Canon is going to kill them in video....Sony had a decent run but the big 2 are about to get in the ML game and Sony will be back where they belong :)
