There are variety of choices in 18650 battery made in china. The 18650 is not a consumer standard, the channel that reaches consumer is chaos and mostly illegal (some are disqualified waste from factory, some are disassembly from electric waste). The reliable way to get those is to place order in batches to qualified factory or get them from disassembling qulaity yet cheap power bank like XiaoMi.

I would like a hammer test on these. I work in electronics recycling and these 18650 batteries starts like 99% of fires at our factory. I would like to know if some are more prone to bursting in to flames when mangled than others or if it is just dependent on their charge state. If you do test it, do it outside on a windy day, the smoke is definitely not good for you. Also, don't use water to put it out or have a source of it nearby, it not only worsens the fire but it also creates more of the very poisonous hydrogen fluoride gas that is generated by the burning of lithium hexafluorophosphate.
@skitidet4302
@skitidet4302 Год назад
@@Ormagoden94 What? The batteries in vape pens are usually lithium polymer, they aren't nearly as bad as 18650. Also, did they get killed by poisoning? There's no way the explosion from a small lithium polymer battery could kill someone unless they held it pressed right next to an artery or something. Or was there a time and place that 18650 was common in vape pens? Those would be a serious hazard and I could see that being able to kill someone.
@maximilianmustermann5763
@maximilianmustermann5763 Год назад
@@skitidet4302 There are a lot of bigger vape machines that use 2x 18650 batteries. You need those if you want to do up to 200 W sub-ohm vaping (meaning the coil has as little as 0.1 ohm resistance). They are more fun than the pens because they can produce a huge amount of vapor, but they fell a little out of favor because only massive douchebags used them in public spaces. They can basically be turned into fog generators with the right liquid. On the other hand, these are not a danger at all if you buy good 18650 cells like the Murata (former Sony) VTC5 or VTC6 and if you are a little careful with the cells. Put some additional shrink-wrap over them to prevent exposed metal, only transport them in silicon "socks" or battery boxes, and only use good, reliable charging devices. I've been using them at home for many years and never had a problem nor have I ever been worried. I mean, I used to do some rc model drone flying. Those high-amp drone LiPos can give you the creeps. But brand-name high-quality 18650s? No, they're fine. (I never crush them or hit them with hammers)

@Lics Norgi Okay, lets see how well you do using a foreign language that you have no or limited knowledge of; and on top of that, lets make that foreign language use an entirely different written system, as using a common alphabet isn't comparable from going from Chinese to English. You can't really complain about someone else's use of a language when you clearly don't fully understand the language itself, try teaching yourself some grammar, so you can actually look literate. Things such as capitalizing 'Chinese,' putting an apostrophe in 'can't,' maybe try adding a comma after 'dumb' as well, you might also want to add 'people' after 'Chinese.' Also, when using, "... craps," do you mean to use 'pieces of crap'? Not to mention the, "... fake...,' part of that statement is outright false, what makes them fake? They're an _alternative_ product; if they were fake they just wouldn't work, at all, like a dummy place holder. If you don't understand what an alternative product is, look at name brands and generic brands that offer the same product. Typical hypocritical, uneducated, racist scum, it seems, as you clearly don't know what grammar is, can't form a proper statement, use proper logic, have any kind of informed opinion, and you single out a specific people when the situation could happen to any foreign people. Please, keep your toxicity to yourself. Nobody wants to see your racist, hypocritical, uneducated, and uniformed opinions. If you feel the need to be racist, go seek help.

Your videos are absolutely amazing, companies need to have your rating scale on their products, have you ever thought of creating a rating scale with your initials, and getting with companies on products you tested, to let them know, that they can put your rating scale on their products, as being rated as a top 5 of the (your initials) scale? The more people see and hear your videos, and see this scale rating, the more companies will patreon you and pay you to get you to test their products, so they can get your scale of approval for their products. I can indeed tell you, that I purchased products I needed by brand and your results solely because I had seen their results on one of your videos, because like you said, "you don't always get what you pay for", and that is soooooo frustrating. Believe it or not, farmers can be quite good at this kinda stuff. One thing about farmers is that often times they have to simply make things work, in non-optimal conditions. Some can get quite creative because of that.

@@zihaoliu605 "Um acktchyually China makes the best Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries" Shut up, nerd. There are manufacturers all over the world that make LiFePO4 batteries. Yes, most are made in China but so is most everything else we use daily- because it's dirt cheap. And just because they make the batteries for car companies doesnt make them the best. They are in those cars because they were the cheapest that they could get away with while still being Lithium Iron Phosphate. I don't know how many cars you have but I do have 5, 2 in NY and 3 in Qingdao, and they are all mercedes amg and bmw suvs, I never saw anything related to maintenance batteries, but often made in Germany parts are failing, not to mention made in USA for past 60 years is a joke. They're not typos. They're misspellings by people who (barely) speak English as a second language. Lots of people who learn a second language don't learn to spell in that language. They likely genuinely think that's how the word is pronounced and spelled.

@@billybobjoe198 They're made by people who literally do not know the language. They're working off a translation to know what the foreign glyphs mean, but they don't know the difference between an l or an f. They're just copying images. Western tattoo artists do the same thing when copying Chinese characters. They might have some random guide saying what the characters mean, but they don't know how to create them properly. Hey buddy, if you’re using something that takes the CR123 and they run in parallel, the 18650 batteries are exactly the same size as (2) CR123’s put together end to end. Depending on your application, this could really come in handy. I have a Streamlight flashlight that uses (2) CR123 batteries and when they died, I sort of found this out my happenstance

@@daleminkel2816 Thanks! I'm using a Streamlight duel fuel that takes 1x CR123 or 1x AA. (I find it super handy when the CR123 runs out because I can always find an AA until I can get another CR123) I'm at the point where I've tried several EDC flashlights and that Streamlight seems to work the best for me for now. Easy user interface, durable, puts out a lot of light in a good pattern. I just wish it had a better rechargeable option that put out the same or more light as the CR123.
