Will the US have allies in the future?

I came across an interesting clip of Mitch McConnell talking about the US strategy in Ukraine and thought it would be worth talking about in a video. Do you think the US will have allies in the future if they continue to use them and discard them when it no longer benefits the US?

Armenia counted on the U.S. and lost Nagorno-Karabakh over it. Ukraine counted on the U.S. and is going to be reduced to a probably landlocked rump state. Israel counted on the U.S. to protect it from the ramifications of its actions, and is on a horrible downwards military trajectory against the Shia (plus Hamas) Crescent, ever since its failed occupation of South Lebanon (1985-2000). Having seen Israel's fragility on Oct 7, Saudi Arabia must be breathing a big sigh of relief that it went with the Chinese brokered rapprochement with Iran, rather than committing itself to a U.S. umbrella. There is definitely a lesson for Taiwan in this.

Good points. It does seem to be an emerging template, although it will not yield benefits to the public. Dollars spent on reviving the industrial base are spent on weapons and platforms, but not on infrastructure, and that will hurt the US economy. This is the reason for excessive inflation, given that arms are gobbling resources and capital.

US will always have some allies. Everybody is using everybody. Like right now, Japan is using America's unspoken backing to release its nuclear-contaminated water. India is using US' friend-shoring to accelerate their industries. The Philippines uses the US to compete against China for South China Sea islands, etc. etc. The list used to be longer but is quickly shortening.

If China imposes an air and naval blockade on Taiwan and China certainly has the capability to do that, would Taiwan be able to survive for a month?? what could the USA and Japan do ??? would the USA and Japan be willing to start a war against China and risk a nuclear catastrophe for the world ??? a viewpoint from Canada.

13 minutes of explaining the definition of proxy-wars and vassal states. Nicely done, though. The answer to the question has always been: The system will not change as long as the dominating power of the time a) has enough resources and tools (!) to project its powers and b) has created a framework (legal, economic, ...) that deterres others from destroying it or attempting a replacement (psychological prejudice towards the status quo). There might be a third force, but I can't find it right now. It seems as if there has to be a boiling point and a trigger point and it would be interesting to look back in history if these can be found (qualified) and somehow measured (quantified). Rome wasn't destroyed in one go, but had several setbacks and chances at reform. Japan was at the brink of collapse (Sengoku Jidai) but pulled itself together and became a regional power that could take on a massively larger opponent (China, Imperial Russia).

Taiwan wouldn't stand a chance against Mainland China. Chinese military structure and forces by far outstrips Taiwan by alot. The difficulty of defending a small stationary area against a highly mobile, technologically advanced force. Is nearly impossible, Britian did it because the Germans were stupid and RAF fighters were faster and more maneuverable. The opposite will be true for Taiwan, they will be facing 3,000 fighter 4th and 5th generation and 20,000 more drones on par with any found in the West. That doesn't include the most advanced and biggest family of strategic and tactical missiles found anywhere in the world.

After Ukraine is partly or mostly lost to Russia, I wonder how long will NATO last. May be it'll be in name only.

@@kakuro8233 What has nukes got to do with anything ? Russia is not going to attack. If NATO make proxy war on Russia and lost, it'll dead of shame and irrelevance.

The answer to the question posed in the title is, a resounding yes. People, or their leaderships anyway, are just exactly that stupid. Japan, despite that it suffered two atomic attacks therefrom, is so entwined with everything made in the US, that it actually has Baseball as it's national sport, uniquely outside of north america. More seriously, even in the lattter stages of the distrous war in ucraine, Armenia, in despite of the fact that it's existence today, independent of Azerbaijan, it owes to Russia, is trying to move itself into the unloving embrace of the West.

“we are using Ukraine…” You deliberately twist the fact there buddy. Ukraine is willing to fight and ask for only weapons to do so. They have never asked for troops from any nation. “We all know that Zelensky was put in power because he is an actor. “ Your logic is childish. Zelensky was elected in a national election.

You are massively wrong I thought you as an American living abroad specifically would have known that the Russians used only a small portion of its military in Ukraine. How can you sit there and conclude that Russia's military is weakened when they barely fought?.....................

“What Do You Think of Western Civilization?” “I Think It Would Be a Good Idea” Mohandas Gandhi 😂😂😂😂😉 I am happy to see you grow and understand the world more and more and share your growth. I'm sorry to see you suffer a little being in contact with reality, but you'll take better decisions in the future ♥ Zelensky is way better then my Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Zelensky was a real actor, Justin was just a drama teacher. Once again amazing video. Maybe one of these days you do a podcast or something and speak more about this stuff. American military general said "The U.S. doesn't lose wars, it loses interest" Risking your neck to have your people become disposable units for another puppet master. Even thou as A American myself I fully support democracy and countries being fully independent, if it's at the cost of their entire nation and people group what's the point of fighting. Taiwan should see this war as a dreadfully future reminder that if a war with China happens and they have their advanced microchip factory destroyed they'll be abandoned by the world and left in ruin like numerous other countries.
