Azzi Fudd is entering her redshirt Junior year. Her career so far at UConn has been riddled with injuries every year, and she has not been able to play a full season. Can Fudd have the best season of her career?

The talent on this team is just staggering but better yet they are superb human beings. What I admire most about Azzi isn't just her 'generational' talent. But the calmness she brings to the team. She exudes class, poise, and still has that competitive fire. Plus character, right! Without that, you will destroy with your character what you create with your gift. What will be will be, who knows who may get hurt or not? This sport pushes each athlete to the point of failure, repeatedly. And it is happening throughout WBB, not just UConn. It is hard to have educated wisdom on when to push through and when your body is saying oops, I am hurt and don't ignore this one. Super competitors have a tendency to do this. I am a very firm believer that all things work together for good as the good book says. I know beyond any shadow of doubt Azzi believes this as well. There is more going on here than just basketball. So saying that, I am beyond exited to see how this next season unfolds for our girl, and the rest of the team. We got to see last year how they came together and surprised the world while crippled. Can you imagine all these super stars hitting their stride at the same time? OMG.

Azzi says she is “unbreakable” so I think that mindset will go a long way! Poor girl hasn’t been able to stay healthy so its gonna be cruital to have a 5 star season, but and ALC return is NO easy task! praying for good health and a strong return. (number 12 championship loading…)

It has to be her best year. She came into college as the number one recruit on the cover of Slam. She’s got too much potential to not be a top three WNBA draft pick. And this is her year to prove it

I agree. She's been something of a fair-weather player at times, even when not sidelined by injuries. Lots for Azzi to prove this year.... recall that Christyn Williams was a number one overall recruit too.

Look, Azzi is a very talented player and certainly a great outside shooter. But she’s not Paige, or Caitlin, Olivia, Hannah, or Rory. I mean, she’s not, despite being the top recruit in her class, quite on that level. She’s talented enough to play in the W- and she always happens to be a bright, articulate young person who can have a life outside of basketball.

I know Azzi is better than most people realize, but it doesn't always appear to the eye. Like Paige knows what's going to happen next, Azzi incorporates that into her movements, particularly on defense. I wonder if in-coming Kaitlyn Chen is like that. The video I've seen of her is fairly nondescript. She seems competent, doesn't make a lot of errors, scores more than the videos I've seen, but also isn't a one-on-one star in any dramatic way. So, my impression of Azzi, Kaitlyn, and perhaps Ashlynn and K.K. is that they need to focus on their ability to be shifty, unpredictable, quick to change direction and throw off a defender with fakes and sudden movements. All that would be helpful. Paige does a lot of that already, but at her height she doesn't impress as quick, even when she is. I've been watching some RU-vid shorts where someone demonstrates these kinds of things. Not all are terribly useful, but all help the player improve their base skills. Anyone can find these easily.

Might be a good program examining the health status of each of the players forced to sit on the bench last season for UConn. Does Strong have a knee issue? Is El Alfy ready to go? Can DuCharme overcome her concussion and neck issues? Did Patterson’s second knee surgery solve her problem? Does Griffin need more time to heal after her surgery? We know Fudd has a history of knee problems so can she get a clean bill of health to start this season? Of these five what is known about who is really ready to go and who’s not?

We are about to find out just how great Paige Bueckers really is. How many players out there can come back to the floor after being away from the game for more than a year and have the impact/season that Paige had? The list is VERY short. Does Azzi have that 'generational' gene to come right back and exude greatness right out of the injury gate? Azzi's parents are the best. I watch their YT channels all the time. If Azzi possesses even a fraction of the resilience, fortitude, and determination demonstrated by the unwavering love and support of her parents, I anticipate her ability to rebound a sure thing. How quickly? Hmmmmm that is another matter. Peace! PS. Enjoy your trip, Ry!

Azzi has been dealing with injuries since high school, but she has so much talent. Will it be her best season? I think if she goes the whole season with no injury, then yes, it will be her best season, regardless of how she plays. You have to put in perspective that she has missed significant time every season at UConn. I'm not putting pressure on her to be great, just play her role and do what she can to help the team win. I would be satisfied with that

Geno will not automatically give a starting position to Jana, AF, AP, CD, and AG. The injured players coming back have to compete for the starting position. If they can come back, then UCONN can breathe much easier with a deep bench.

It better be. Her UConn career has been disappointing. She had that “generational talent” label when she came here. And she has been injured a lot. But has she been unlucky? I am not sure. Even dating back to high school; Azzi has been an often injured player. Injuries aside. This is probably her last chance to create her legacy as a UConn player. Right now. She is one of the most disappointing players in the history of the program. I hope she can remedy that in 2024/2025. I think there is a ton of pressure on her.

That's absolutely trash. You can't call her disappointing when she's not even had half of a full season to play yet. She absolutely has the best shot of any Uconn player ever. Even the men's team admits this. If her knee ever really heals enough for her to have the confidence she needs to have is a question, but feel bad for her journey. Don't call her disappointing. She's amazingly talented.

@@ttna77 right now she is disappointing. Greg Oden is disappointing. And in his own words admitted that he will be considered a bust in the NBA. Azzi is in that realm atm. She does have a chance to save her college legacy though. This year is huge for her. The 2021 class in particular looks like the most disappointing recruiting class in the history of the program. The best player is at Maryland right now.

Azzi Dudd can't guard a chair. Her shooting is hot and cold. Injury prone and all hype. Spent half of high school out injured. Has spent over half her career at UCONN out injured. Just think, Saniya Rivers WAS going to sign with UCONN. You two guys better stop dreaming. Stop glorifying Azzi Dudd. During 2022-23 Dudd's 3 point shooting was .340. Nika was second on the team after Lovely Lou with a .343 %. During the 2023-24 season. Although shortened for the Dudd. She shot .286 from 3 point range. Meanwhile Nika shot the second best on the team at .402 just a micro tad less than Paige. FUDD is a DUDD. Do you guys do any research ?
