Will Zelda Get Her Own Legend of Zelda Game?

In the build-up to Tears of the Kingdom, many fans were hoping there would be other playable characters in the game, with Princess Zelda being a focus for the fan base. It turned out Zelda wasn’t playable, but that doesn’t mean it’s never going to happen. Today I’d like to look at the potential for a Princess Zelda-focused game, plus if the upcoming Princess Peach Showtime game will have an influence on Nintendo.

A Sheik-based game would be pretty cool. I think it would be cool to see a sort of role swap in the sense of who has the base traits of the Tri-Force. It could be a story of a rebellious teenage/young-adult Zelda discovering and experimenting with her magical capabilities, and during her travels or quests she comes across an old swordsman named Link, the wielder of the Master Sword, now retired. In this way, Zelda now has the Tri-Force of Courage and Link the Tri-Force of Wisdom. With Link's years of experience in the field and on quests defending Hyrule, Zelda has the perfect battle teacher for combat strategy and possible weapon mastery should the player decide to take on that route. With that in mind, we basically would have three paths for Zelda to choose: Warrior, Mage, or a combination of the two. All in an attempt to face a younger evil or rising-from-ashes evil, maybe akin to the Yiga Clan or Twin Rova themself, to protect Hyrule until the next Master Sword wielder comes to light.

I read a Post about it, and I don't remember if was the producers of The Legend of Zelda but was part of the owners, they said "Zelda will not be the main character but there's a possibility of Zelda be a Playable character in a future", so this answers the question of the video

I think a solo-Zelda game must embody the Triforce of Wisdom conceptually, so it should be more of a heavy puzzle focused game. Maybe something like Portal meets Tomb Raider. The scale of the game might be limited to one very large and interconnected dungeon where Zelda utilizes magical spells Link doesn't use to solve puzzles. Combat would be part of it but less emphasized as the puzzles.

Since Tears of the Kingdom's story is divided from the the perspectives of two main characters, how come the developers didn't bother making Zelda a playable character? Let alone exploring the Hyrule from the distant past, learning about the Zonai origins, given Sonai, Mineru, and Sonia more screentime, and provide in depth of Ganondorf's character as well as how learned to mastered gloom from his surrogate mothers Kotake and Koume. That is what I am hoping for DLC until Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma and game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi announced the cancellation to move to the next project. Again this another lost opportunity since Skyward Sword's unfinished Second Quest.

Let me introduce you to 1993's Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon on the Philip CDI. We got to play as Zelda in that game. While it wasn't a fun or entertaining game, we still got to play as her.

Zelda definitely NEEDS her own game! She's got a crazy powerful skill set, and has been the title character forget, without being playable 🤦🏽

It’s kinda ridiculous that a character who is literally a living goddess still hasn’t gotten her own game. It would be so cool and I think her current characterization on breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom is very interesting. It’s a great idea to, if not give her an entire game, at least let us play as her temporarily in future titles.

I'd love a game where you play as Zelda. But she needs to be badass. The Zelda from Botw and Totk doesn't work. No disrespect to the voice actor. Im sure she did exactly what the japanese devs wanted.

@triforcetimes Her character compared to how it is now. How she talks and reacts. Give her a real voice, and not the fragile, weak, wimpy voice of a scared young girl she currently has. Now it's to much "Oh Link save me.." The main problem, imo, is how some japanese devs view a woman compared to the western world. Another example would be Samus portrayal in Other M.

@@johanandersson8646I disagree. Zelda is a badass, just not in the traditional way we would think of one. We usually think of "badass" in a more masculine sense, but Zelda is still a badass despite being more traditionally feminine. She doesn't need to be swinging a sword like Link, or have to have a self assured voice and muscular build like Urbosa. Zelda gains her strength through her will to protect her kingdom and Link, even if she can't directly fight all the time, and she still did fight against Ganondorf in the past! Zelda turned herself into a flipping DRAGON because of how much she believed in Link and his eventual success. She loved him and her kingdom so much she sacrificed herself for it without a second thought of finding another way. If that isn't badass I don't know what is. She may have a more feminine meek voice, but her actions are stronger than a Goron, and if she really trained and honed her dealing power, I could see her using it like in Age of Calamity, especially with that boy of light. Remember the cutscenes and in game lore are more lore accurate than gameplay in BOTW and TOTK with Link being able to do things we can't do as him in those games, so his real strength and thus Zelda's potential is far closer to Age of Calamity than we may think.
