In Europe a certain kind of sausage originates from Vienna (“Wien“ in German) and therefore is called “Wiener“. That‘s why in many countries Dachshunds are also called “Wiener“ (pronounced “Veener“). And not “Weiner“. “Weinen“ is German for “to cry“ or maybe even for “to whine“. And a “Weiner“ might be someone who tends to cry/whine (although the word isn‘t commonly used). It would be pronounced “Viner“… 😀
