Women Everywhere Are Reaching Their Breaking Point | FEMINISM

Feminism is currently in a backslide in the U.S. And around the world, there are increasingly more attacks on women’s liberties and lives - even in democracies like ours. The war on women is global. And so is the fight against it. You spoke up in the comments of our ‘Death of Feminism’ video in droves - and you were right. A purely American lens on feminism leaves out the majority of the world, and the struggle for women’s liberation hasn’t ended.
Thanks to social media and our increased accessibility to global news, we’re witnessing havoc wreaked against women on an international scale at a speed and volume that was not possible in any other century. But with our liberties-and the liberties of women in our global community-being threatened, we can’t afford to burn out now. Here’s our take on how the global war on women has reached a breaking point - and how we can fight back by learning from other women in similar positions around the world.

Men and women aren't the same and that's ok. Many women are rejecting feminism because most of those pushing it come across as agents of chaos who actually hate women. Modern feminism is about pushing Luciferian ideologies and those ideologies actually hurt women.

They did not investigate my case thoroughly and they dropped my case. I was NOT seen as the victim and I was blamed for being SA’d. Unfortunately I didn’t have the support from my female friends. @@DrGingerHamster James I’m glad you had to restrict your question to US women since this video shows exactly what can happen when women don’t fight for their rights in non western countries. Women in US probably don’t want the same thing to happen and with a man like Terump being elected President in your country it was not far away when men like you most probably would sit on their asses when other men take women’s rights by law. So they have to fight to keep the status quo - and not lose it because recently your country decided a woman’s body is not her own once she is pregnant in many states. There is no equivalent law where majority women decide what a man can do with his body
@OneLifeJunkJack
@OneLifeJunkJack Год назад
But isn't it part of the problem? If you assume that nobody else is worrying about it, then you're part of the reason why fewer local politicians (Mayors and such) talk about it, when in fact a lot of them would gladly address the problem for gaining political points (if for no other reason). It's not like a man needs to understand how to be a woman in order to be against oppression. I know the importance of this video, but I can't not comment this, because it pains me to hear anyone say that "the US has historically been known as a beacon for democracy and women's progress": this might be the propaganda shown within the country and heavily exported outside, but this is not truth. Every coup and military dictatorship in latinamerica during the midcentury has been proven to be endorsed by U.S government. The number of women and lgbtqia+ people that died on the hands of these governments are also at fault of U.S. Government. Not only in latinamerica, but every single war in Iraq, the influence of US in the Iran, the absurd Israel is doing with Palestine side by side with the US Government, just mere examples on the shitshow made in north Africa and middle east. Global feminism cannot keep on working in this imperialistic and colonizing method and theory. I highly recommend authors such as Françoise Verges to understand the role of economics in the perpetuation of racism and sexism altogether. If we want to raise the voices of feminism around the world, first thing to do is drop the idea that the US is somehow vanguard of democracy, because to the rest of the world, they aren't. We can't skip race, we can't skip class. We need to think it all together. If I need to bring US American references, then we have bell hooks, we have Angela Davis. @@Haysti2000 I think it's a combination of self-esteem and how you were raised. Then again this is just my experience! I was mainly raised by women, all 'strong' in different ways. I didn't have a manly man raising me to be a certain way, one that appears threatened by not having some masculine power. The alpha male BS never really registered for me as I never felt a need to 'take control'. I already have control over my life, and the women who raised me gave me that while not having to give theirs up: I don't feel the need to big myself up to get respect or love, because I got that from my family and friends by just being me. Older members of the family may still ascribe to traditional family roles. But, as time went on, I saw the contrast between my mother and grandmother's positions and wondered why they were so different. I guess compassion and love for the women in my family led to a general respect for people. They are happy doing what they do, and have found that without being told to do it or forced into that role by someone else. I think 'alpha males' are either raised to think thats how they should be by manly men who know no different, or are people who have little respect for womens' autonomy, desires or dreams because they never saw them struggle to be happy. I'd find it very weird to meet a self-proclaimed 'alpha male' - who loves the women in their life - whose mother, sister, grandmother, or daughter have struggled and are/have been unhappy because of controlling men

We need to focus on why men hate women so much. It's not just a lack of respect. It's a deep seated hate. The fact is more men are in a position of power. So why are these men not protecting the women in their societies? Why is it that men in power find it more beneficial to keep women below them as oppose to making us their equals? Do you know how beautiful this world could be if men and women weren't at war with each other? If men could open the doors to power for us instead of making up fight for every right and privilege we have? Men hate women. It's as simple as that. How can you move past something like that? Furthermore,women need to stop fighting among ourselves. The sad part of it is the we hate ourselves too. And because we hate ourselves we hate other women. It's always a competition for us. No matter how much strides feminism makes we won't see real lasting life altering changes in society because we as women refuse to really band together and love each other. And despite all of men's drawbacks you will never see a man not work with other men to remain in their positions of power. Look at what happened to the abortion rights in America. And instead of all women in America stopping everything and fighting for the rights that were taken away there's a divide. The idea of feminism is great but I'm over it as something that could actually be helpful to women.

The easy answer is that in easy nice times when everything is in abundance, people become liberal because they have the luxury of not being confronted with reality. When all hell breaks out like in a war ( for example Ukraine) then people are confronted by reality and biology and go back to conservative way's where the men fight and the women and children flee through the back door. Conservatives realize reality even in easy, soft times while liberals live in a fantasy.

The thing is that I want to be out there supporting gender equality 100% but I'm afraid that since I have a history of toxicity where I have at times been deliberately hostile and other times misunderstood someone that I wouldn't be welcome. The thing is that I have learned and grown from my mistakes but the way society is now I'm expected to have a clean record from birth. Plus I'm autistic and I know a lot of people who hear that and instead of trying to understand what it means they label and ostracize me. Edit: I genuinely want to applaud the women in Latin America who were able to challenge the system and legalize abortion. You'll find that there is a correlation between Europe's former colonies and femicide.

You can start by explaining what people can do on a small, local, online scale and then gradually move up scale by scale to show what people can do to help further the movement. I am a teenager living in a foreign country, and I often feel powerless in these movements because I feel as if I can't do much, so an instructional video would be incredibly helpful and appreciated!

There is a lot more this video can cover that fits the topic. Whether you agree or not, bear with me a little please. The movement shouldn't just be better organized, intersectiomal and more intentional, but also anti-capitalist, anti-extractivist, and decentralized (i). We see examples of how the US government sets an example for other countries to follow, but US foreign policies as well as sanctions/embargos also influence countries' internal strife to the maximum that we see sustained. The US is not surrounded by enemy states waiting to take over it, but other countries abroad are. Geopolitics plays a huge role in its influence over women's issues and the most dire and pressing of issues like femicides and sexual rights. And also, in terms of intersectionality, we see mostly examples of what has come across media and social media as important and trending in a western lense, but somehow Palestine is completely missed in this issue. There are women there too. A Palestinian female journalist was shot and killed, does that not matter enough here? I'm sure everyone has an answer and the point of this comment is to start the dialogue. I'm Iranian, Lebanese, ex-Muslim, queer, feminist, radical, and open to hear anything that is not an attack on my character but simply asks or answers more questions in line with what I have proposed in (i). Also I've only scratched the surface, and a RU-vid comment section is not an ideal place to start rigorous dialogue, but I hope this gets through to some if not all of you. Edit: just added a missing word.

Yeah, capitalists who make money from ad rev won't talk about that. There are people who do things to improve the world even if it's unpleasant, and people who do thinks they think will improve the world, because it makes them feel good. This channel is the latter. If you want change, find people who are sane, but also getting deplatformed, cancelled, banned, censored, shadow banned. They're the ones making a difference, because if they weren't, the system wouldn't be trying to stop them. I was listening to one recently: Brian Becket. A long time anti war movement organiser. He did an interview with Lee Camp on Mint Press News. I don't know much about him, but I have respect for long term, grass roots organisers. More than RU-vid content creators. You've got to find a big lever, and push it. Whatever that looks like for you.

" but also anti-capitalist," Good luck convincing all the american feminists to become anti-capitalist. This factor alone is going to be a major hurdle in achieving unity within the feminist movement.
@sabasadr9060
@sabasadr9060 Год назад
@@admiralfrancis8424 I don't disagree, but perhaps they're not the only leading feminists in the US? Regardless, I think the point is also to find better possibilities to move away from those values (capitalist for example). We can't reach the most ideal community and solidarity building anywhere, not just in the US, but what we put to practice is ultimately what the video is saying matters. They're right on the mark there, but also it helps to pursue things outside of ALL systemic structures. So yeah, not to negate you or pretend to educate you or something, but all is worth discussing in any space if (big "if", esp if becoming ostracized or neglected is a real issue) one has little to lose.
