Old school toys can still provide hours of fun for modern kids. This one is from the fifteen hundreds and was still popular when I was a kid.

Wood turning can be a dangerous hobby. My videos show my methods of turning and if you do not feel comfortable with my methods please do not copy them but rather use a method you feel comfortable using. Your safety is your responsibility as is the safety in your workshop. Enjoy the videos, hopefully something inspires you or helps you along the way. Irish woodturning is a craft that is dying out and should be preserved so that the tradition of Wood turning in Ireland stays alive and well.

@@BBTurning got my waterproofs packed. It's like Ireland and Scotland seem to use the same informative weather reporters. Good healthy fresh air and it best to fish in the rain,also good for walks on the moors/bogs. Maybe get a bit of bigwood and wait 20yrs for it to dry. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤣😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Shay, made some of these a couple of years ago to give away, I soon stopped, the bloody kids were using them as weapons, now I make them out of cardboard,,. Regards Alf

My Grandmother would make us one out of her button box. We called them button spinners and I am from Louisiana.

We played with this as kids. We used big coat buttons and heavy thread. Don't get them near your hair. You will have a mess, Hahahaha, very cool, Shay.

Shay, that brought back memories from the early 60’s. A lot of kids in the neighborhood had them but they were all made of some kind of plastic and many different colors. I will for sure have to make some out of the scraps, great project! Take care, Wayne

We made these out of thick cardboard or bits of ply... whatever we could get, they were rough but they worked. However, my main memory is my sore, purple fingers, LOL. If you stick those on the stall you'll probably find the Grannies and Grandas buy them. I'm going to make some for my little cousins (no grandchildren, well, none that I know of anyway).
