James can't sleep so he goes exploring with his video camera. A security official/paramedic updates him on some injuries sustained by attendees the night before. JW asks him to film a moment standing on the stage with the sleepy crowd behind him.

It was a HUGE change in vibe from the Friday the day before to waking up that Saturday morning. The fences came down overnight and it was over 300K people in no time. The stage was set for NIN to take the stage that night.

wowww damn still sad they had a few od's and a paralyzed kid. I mean, not everyone got hurt but damn. Somethings never change. I feel like this weekend and many others including 99 were legendary shows and also some notorious ones as well... but at least it isn't anything like in comparison to concert damage from today. Like AstroWorld or the other OzzFest shows in 90's and 00's. Warped Tour? I dunno about that in comparison to "Metal" or other Rock shows. It's frankly sobering to see this even in footage from 1994. I appreciate the MM/NIN footage, Rest easy James!

I would say it's all relative. I was at Woodstock '94. I saw a guy fall to his death at the main stage. He climbed to the top of the scaffolding in front of the main stage (the one at this timestamp ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-54gn36Kr4uM.html) and thought he would jump into the mosh pit from that height. People in the pit saw him and instead of catching him they all moved away. Same night that NIN played there were women being raped while watching bands at the main stage. Men were targeting women in skirts and coming at them from behind. There was virtually no security, except for at the very front rails of the stages. No one could hear these women scream and many thought they were just enjoying the show. You couldn't get out or go anywhere because there were SO many people. Most women couldn't even identify who it was who had raped them because they couldn't turn around to see the face of their attacker. I had almost everything stolen from me including most of my clothes. I got pneumonia. I was stranded there once the show ended because the organizers made no plan to get people out. They only made plans to get people there. I ended up hitchhiking to the train station. Got to my hotel in Newark and found out my dad had died. Did I mention I went by myself to this show? I was 20 yrs old. No one would go with me so I just decided to go alone. Met up with a friends cousin who I saw for maybe 10 minutes in 3 days. There was a woman at TWA who took pity on me and when I checked in for my flight she had asked me if I was okay because I was so sick and looked terrible. She bumped me up to first class so I could be more comfortable on my 4 hour direct flight back to Denver. I slept the entire flight. Looking back at this video now I honestly cannot believe that I made it there and back. I commented on another video that Kate uploaded about waiting for nearly 12 hours at the main stage just to see NIN perform. I was front row on the rail for their performance. There's a *very* brief moment in the Woodstock DVD where I can be seen during their set. I don't remember which song it was during though.

Wonder if it was hard to go to the restroom. hehe What people used to go through to see a music show!

Impossible. It was absolutely impossible! The porta-potties were overflowing and once the rain and mud mess began people started tipping over the toilets, sometimes with people inside. It was disgusting and smelled horrible. There wasn't near enough toilets for the number of people who attended. This was mostly because nearly 300k people pushed the outer fence over and just walked right in.
