Lewis this is what brought me to your channel. Your vision for the hybrid projects is amazing! I was never a fan of the resin work until I found your channel. You are the one that made me a fan of this type of work. This project came out wonderfully! Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing.
You always come up with something different Lewis. Thanks for having me stop by once again. A master craftsman producing a unique piece including a demonstration of the use of a skew chisel. Beautiful and imaginative 🌞
Very nice piece Lewis. The resin pour came out great. I like its use for the bowl; when I did my hybrid, I used the resin for the stem. That let me use a pen mold for the pour. Not sure why people get bent out of shape over music in the videos; I find it relaxing and calming. If I want to hear tool noises, I’ll go out to the shop and make some. 😉
Great design, Lewis. I really like the form you chose and your artistry in the stem was impressive. What I feel like I learned the most from this was how you laminated the cup to the stem. I'm always intrigued to find effective ways to securely bond pieces with different mortise and tenon methods.
Your Skew practice looks to have paid off from a few months back. I assume that the temp you were checking was after most exothermic reaction had taken place and as such when you poured them together you didn't get the thermal convection currents that tend to blend everything into one colour. Only with hindsight I wonder if dragging a thin cocktail stick through could have softened some of the colour transitions. I also wondered why you didn't suspend a block of wood in the cup to save resin. Lovely piece.
Thanks Chris. There is a point where you can mix and keep the colours mostly separated which is what I wanted for this piece. The window to do this is very short which is why it was just resin and no filler piece. Thanks for watching!
Greetings, I have watched several of your presentations and noted your use of hot melt glue. I was wondering what the brand is that you use for gluing the project you are working on to take of the tendon. Also is your hot melt gun a certain brand. I tried to use hot melt glue to work on hte bottom of a bowl and it didn't hold. i thank you for any information that you can provide to me as I would like to use the method which you have demonstrated on your RU-vid presentations.
