Been a fan since his early years with Galaxie 500 through Luna. My all time favorite bands. Britta is so underrated. Her voice is amazing and she's beautiful. Night Nurse is my fav from this duo.
This song holds a special place in my heart. Fresh out of college, in my first relationship, and the subsequent break-up a year and a half later. I played "Back Numbers" throughout, and this was my favourite track. A lot of happy and sad memories. Pretty sure I put this song on a mix CD I made for him. Remember when people used to make mix CDs for their lovers? ;)
Saw Britta in 92 as Lead Singer with THE BELLTOWER, as support band for the Primitives in Leeds (uk) at a pub called the Duchess they were excellent and I bought their album Popdropper which I still play today any fans of Britta, check it out (full album on you tube) it's a superb album and they should have been massive (watch the video for the single outshine the sun) the songs Brilliant!!!.
Hearing this on the radio made me get the CD. This has such a nice, mellow 60s feel a la Velvet/Nico. Also reminds me of the lovely Jessie Baylin song Hurry Hurry.
Hi Britta - hi Dean. Enjoy you guys so much and can't wait to see you in Austin again, soon I hope! Last time I saw y'all was at the cactus cafe, and Dean did me a kind favor - a cherished memory for my punk rock scrapbook. Finding y'all on social media now, a whole new way and reason to reconnect with the soothing music that always touches my heart.
Played this over and over when driving my kids up to Macinac Island back in 2007. Beuatiful song that instantly brings back a beautiful place and time. Can't wait to see you guys at the Grog in November.
i agree too. also they worked on the sound track for 'the squid and the whale' and theres a lou reed track on that so maybe some influence on them...and squid and the whale is produced by wes anderson who wrote and directed royal tenenbaums which features 2 Nico tracks ...uh... which has nothing to do with anything, i just like making these connections
I suddenly have a craving for you guys. I love Back Numbers and I'm sorry I had to download it or let's just say pirated it but you guys don't reach Indonesia I bet. No one knows you here and Back Numbers is a great album I haven't heard in a long time.
I think Chicago is far away and would like to go there and see the sites but the clouds above me say they were there just moments ago and the sites are better here and besides, they can see them still. Randall
Britta seriously needs more solo stuff, her voice is amazing. I guess he's a good artist, but personally I just don't care for Deans melancholy experimental indie sounding voice at all.
Don't be stupid! Galaxie 500 was around nicely before Hope made her first record...And her music sounds like Dean wrote it for her. Britta's 6 years older, she might have been singing like "that" 2 years before she was born...Don't bring that sounds like crap around here.
What is this?...They try to market these two as 'sexy duo'?...Please!!!...More like 'Zombie Twins'...Phillips good as bass player however...She grow up in Bucks County, outside Philadelphia...Good music for Zoloft commercial.
@frankdialogue I don't think they care if you or anyone else thinks they're a sexy duo, actually. It's more about, "we love the music we make together" and they think that *each other* is beautiful. My own opinion, anyway. And if I can look as lovely as Britta in my forties?
