It's good to hear you're adjusting to the hours. The hours may be long but like you said, it's only for a few weeks then your homeward bound. Thanks for the update, I was wondering how you were doing up there... and if the weather was being good to you.

I never knew sugar beets were a thing, only sugar cane down here. Thanks for sharing

I don’t know how far around the country this stuff goes. I know Target sells this brand but not sure if it is country wide, but probably. I just saw a packet on a restaurant table and it does not say what type of sugar it is... just sugar. So I am guessing people are using it and have no idea since it tastes the same.

You are all very lucky to have that nice trail so close, love the colors. More dust!?!?!? You can't get away from it, glad the showers are in camp to get clean. It looks like you are in a spaceship, LOL! Awesome you are cross training.

Thanks for sharing. Watching to kinda get a feel for what I will be getting into for the 23 season. I haven't worked nights in a long time, but 12 hr. shifts come natural. I am looking forward to this new experience.

I remember night shift well. Factory worker here and I always felt best on afternoons but worked a lot of nights. When the kids were home earplugs were a help.

It was nice because I was always already up to get ready for work. Mornings kill me to get up. But did not sleep nearly as much. Trade offs I guess!

When I boomed around hitting steel mill, power house or auto plant shut downs I preferred the night shift. It would take a few days of not sleeping very well and then totally crash. Work Eat Sleep Repeat

Well if you can sleep, it is a good shift. I could never get enough sleep on that shift. I drove home then wondered how I got there. But at least it looks like the weather is much better this year. And moving up the ladder is good.

The weather is much better and I am appreciative of that! I only ever got one good night’s (day’s) sleep. I should be more tired than I am but can’t imagine going on for another couple of weeks. I have learned most of the jobs and that is it for me. Another rung and the ladder tips over. I am doing this to get away from responsibility, I have no plans in changing that lol

No way. Not dealing with managing people... and from the stories I heard, I can’t imagine that changing haha. I tried swinging by to say Goodbye but the lights were still out (Tue). If you push off... Safe travels and it was great seeing you again! Maybe next year... never say never!

I’m 19 planning to do some living out the jeep for a bit , got a few grand saved up but was thinking of a job to do on the road beside odd jobs , are you a traveling harvester ? Or just a hand at farms as you go

You better watch out, because before you know it you might work yourself back up to the executive ranks. Just kidding, but your piler move reminded me of the joke where a type-A executive takes a vacation in a Mexican fishing village and advises a small time local fisherman how to build a big fishing business by working super hard for several decades to finally be able to afford retirement in a small fishing village by the sea.... etc., etc.

That is it for me. I am as high up as I want to go in what I am willing to do. I have no issues helping out and being able to cover people, but my rank will stay at foot soldier... or part of the overall piker crew! And yeah... I can relate to that joke. It has truth to it and people go down those paths all the time.
