Thanks for reviewing this & bringing awareness to this step option. Like this a lot better than the others that attach by bolts to the outside of the vehicle.
"A very intense design...duck tape". That made me laugh. But I do like the product. It would have helped me a lot on my last trip. But I'm 250 pounds. I might be too big for the step. ?
If you have the stability it should be fine. It is rated at 500 lbs. and since you have a stock XJ it should be a bit easier to step up to. Next time we meet you can try mine and see!
Very nice they sent this to you as I have been considering on how I'd want to access the roof easier of the '89 XJ (re)build I've been doing. I've also been reviewing your previous content as I look at what has work for others that I might want to implement. I've got "super glue" and baking soda, "epoxy stick" and a couple of other adhesives. But my most commonly used is RTV which I use a dab not as a sealant, but as a anti-vibration safety measure on nuts and bolts as it's also so easy to peel off here in Washington State (rain) which I'd use on the device. So I thank you for your coverage and I'll probably go back and watch your other content at a later time, but I'm here for the solutions. ;)
Thanks for watching. I like the RTV idea. In NC luckily we don’t have to worry much about that, but could come in useful for other things. The step is working out really well. Has made a big difference in time when getting stuff on the roof.
I've heard of different ones and that is a sweet design. Great how it will allow you to reach over to the other side of the roof rack. Thanks for your honest feedback. Like did they not test this out first, those seem like some easy fixes before pushing it out to marked. Sounds like hopefully the redesign solves those two issues. Thanks, nice to see it on the different vehicles.
My duct tape fix is working great. I am using it every time I get up to the roof. Hardly ever need to go up the other side any more. I need to watch Scotty’s review. I like him and his channel 👍... in moderation haha
Aw man that won't work on my XJ. I have a 94 with the old style door pins. That would have been perfect too. I might figure out another way to make a step similar to that though. I suppose I could create a fold down step that's bolted into the door. Wouldn't hold up to bigger folks standing on it but I only weigh 8.5lbs soaking wet so it's probably fine lol
Too bad it won’t work. I keep this one right inside the door and use it whenever I go up to the roof. Should have gotten it a while ago. Hope you can come up with something.
I am surprised how much time and up&down time it has saved me. With what I packed on my current trip I don’t have to go to the other side at all most of the time.
I was on the fence at first, but am using mine quite often. I hardly have to get up in the other side of my Jeep now. Just need to remind myself not to get too comfortable on it. Will hurt like crazy to fall off of it.
