A couple of days ago I was in London. I slipped away from my family who were shopping around Regent Street/Oxford Circus and I headed to Savile Row. I briefly enjoyed looking through the windows of the suit and shoe makers (Gaziano Girling). I dare not enter as I'm not a wealthy man! But it was s pleasure to see the craft and sheer quality of the shoes - if even through the window. Thanks
@@kirbyallison ...I am thinking now that I should have just gone in to have a look and express my admiration for the shoes...next time.... Thanks, I enjoy your content.
Did you all know that many famous clowns had their shoes bespoke made by top shoe makers? I liked the so called clown shoe with the exaggerated toe area...cool they had the courage to try that at a championship!
Being able to say you won the World Championship in Shoemaking is probably worth major league bragging rights and more upscale business. When a person pays $5000, $15000 or more for a pair of bespoke shoes, I suppose it's comforting to know that the person who made your shoes 👞👞 won the world shoemaking championship🥇🏆
Kirby - this is a GREAT idea. A couple of suggestions from a bespoke shoe newbie - with marketing experience - I'd like to see a) more detailed clips of different aspects of top 10 shoes with music and narrative on the shoe b) short interesting bios on top 10 shoemakers .. make it personal so the world can know more about these amazing craftsmen c) more women to present the shoes and women shoemakers. Keep making these great videos!
This is so cool to watch. I want Daniel to make my next pair of soccer cleats, polished leather, broguing and everything. Then I woft onto the field just dripping swag.
Any type of cleated sport shoe. I'd want a normal leather sole with threaded inserts for screw in cleats so that I could just walk up to the field and never take my shoes off. Just slap in the cleats and go! @@kirbyallison
Its interesting to see the unusual design achieved by the brief but perhaps it would add to the judging IF the shoes were all wearable and could be modelled on a catwalk? maybe extra judging criteria could be added on how the shoe behaves under motion etc.
I’m sure it was a difficult process to select a winner from all the fine submissions. It must be exciting for you to participate in the judging. Thanks for producing this excellent video. Nice job!
Corthay should of won, that design was gorgeous. but I’m not taking away what the others did but to me Corthay would be the one Id personally would wear.
Hey Kirby! Love your store and your products and at this point I can say I've bought enough to know ;) The value is there and I hope you keep it so. I do have two questions... Can you do a video on what you do to keep things renewable? Do you reuse your polishing cloths? If so, how do you clean them? What about the shoe shine carpet? Second, why don't they make some sort of home shoe vise like your cobbler or Dornstar use to hold the shoes and take arm stress out of the polishing process? New product for Hanger project?
Ok, so I guess I own several funny looking wingtip shoes, they are not Japanese made, but I say they are a bold looking shoe, fine looking, I would buy "So Tsuchiya" wingtips, mine are handmade Asian big toed wingtips.
Great entries but I believe that the winner was not a realistic depiction of what a shoe means. I would expect something that would be wearable and not just a study on a shoe.
Kirby, I'm kinda new to this world of shoes. I have recently purchased shoes from Allen Edmonds, Paul Evans, and Magnanni. What is your opinion on Magnanni?
buzzmeister meister I am not very fun of Magnanni shoes, I feel they are decent shoes but too overpriced for what they are. Also Allen Edmonds is hit or miss nowadays on leather quality, I love my AE boots but the leather on my oxfords is horrible.
@@onepoh4680 I feel the same about AE. All of the AE I have are great, but only because I bought them at reduced prices during either a sale or got factory 2nd.
@@buzzmeistermeister280 Recently I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of Alden's, not sure if all of their shoes are the same but the one I have is great. I hope one day I can afford a pair of "Paolo Scafora" shoes.
In regards to the best qualiry shoes and people in the know, I ask myself if I was a millionaire, would I buy Allen Edmonds or choose these kind if brands? I feel people buy Allen Edmonds for 2 reasons. 1, becuase they think AE are the best quality in the world or have a low appreciation of "best quality" or 2, they cannot afford anything higher in price.
@@yacovlevi For a lot of people Allen Edmonds are the first entry level "good" shoe brand. I dont think anyone "on the know" will consider a ready to wear shoe brand the highest quality, nor are they the cheapest on their quality level.
Extremely rude and disrespectful of the cackling idiots in the background loudly guffawing during the winner's interview. I'm always amazed at how self centered people are these days. Congrats to Mr. Wegan.
wearing in a way where a thinner end is longer than the broader end is not the proper way to do it and i see both gentlemen have that which means that the tie is too long for their respective heights
