Y'know I don't know if anyone's ever said this before Jingles--probably has been said--but I really enjoy your on-the-fly evaluation of activity in replays. Every second of action or inaction or sometimes stuff that you didn't notice until brought up by narration. It really feels like you can stick your head in the replay and relate to what's going on. Love it.

About the HE shells, I'm suddenly thinking about the KV-2.

I quite enjoyed the VK3002DB when I played it, 4 patches ago, but so many tanks have been added to the German medium line, which are better, at a tier lower, so the 3002 gets no love from me these days :(

I can certainly tell the effect WT is having on my sensibilities as a tanker. I initially was thinking to myself, "Oh, prototypes based off the T-34, those would be cool to have. Then again, maybe not." Though what really made me say that was the moment that SU-100 crested the ridge. Because my amygdala started going off like crazy, and I could see in my mind's eye that VK.3001's turret popping like a champagne cork as flames jeted from its commander's hatch as the whole screen goes dark. Then my thought process went like so . . . Jingles: "Oh no, he's going to need to take some damage here." Me: "Wait, what? Damage?" *SU-100 fires, doesn't kill. VK.3001 fires, does kill* Jingles: "He was lucky there. The SU-100 only had the 100mm gun." Me: "Well, yeah, of course he did. If he had anything other than a 100mm gun he wouldn't be a SU-100." Certainly reminded me of one of the reasons I stopped playing WoT. It just didn't make any sense to me. That's not a problem for your videos though, Jingles. They make perfect sense to me, being both funny and informative.

Boy this game has come a long way in 3 years. Glad I got into it. A great vid from the past.

That VK replay was fantastic. Probably the most enjoyable replay I've seen. Reminds me when I got my second Kolobanov's in my T-127..

I'm rather surprised you hadn't shown more of these tanks, particularly the VK 3001. It really seems like your kind of tank, its a fast medium with a very good, high penetration, high RoF gun and good sloped armor.

Except using looks, I dont think this tank can kill :P

Now, 4 years later they are even more forgotten. I remember the vk 3601h as a tier 6 heavy and the vk 3001h as the tier 6 before the panther... they are long gone

I'm currently grinding the last engine on the 3001DB and I just love this tank.

This was a great video for a couple of reasons. Firstly, love the historical background at the start. I've said before that I think this goes a long way to adding depth. Secondly, it's great to see tanks that you just don't see videos of. I haven't owned the 3001D and it looks like a fine machine. I've owned the 3002DB twice, first time was really in my WoT days during my first medium tank grind and it left bad memories, second time was en route to get the indi panzer and I liked it a lot better. Thanks for the vid, more like it would be sweet :)

Very interesting tanks. I've read a lot about them while researching my Panther video, it was actually going to be selected over the MAN design which we all recognise as the Panther today, but MAN actually incorporated many of DB's ideas into their own vehicle, which ended up being the victor.

Great segment and terrific reminder of the smaller things that make gaming and viewing important; changing your game colors to accommodate for those that are color-blind (red/green)...known before and reminded here. nice touch ol'man.

I was unfortunate enough to have thatguy2 on my team, and, coincidentally, he was in a troll platoon.

i absolutely loved the schmalturm with the 8.8 on the 3002. it is just such a great brawler in that combination. And the armor is enough to bounce IS 122 guns when you angle and brawl.

Some pz4 units with the short 75mm guns actually did the same thing. They didn't want the longer barreled 75's because it had lower HE performance and shape charge rounds were effective enough they didn't see any need for it.

I love the VK 30.01D had one of my best matches in it Steel wall spartan confederate 5 kills and a Mastery Ace badge. I had the replay up until a couple days ago when my hard drive crapped out on me.

Hey Jingles! These videos where you take up historical aspects of the tanks in the game are freakin' awesome. Ofc I love your Mingles-videos, your Random Acts Of Violence and so on, but if you could find the time, and if you like the idea, a series of historical "Documentary"-videos, narrated by you, would be a real treat. To me, it doesn't have to feature awesome gameplay. Just listening to your voice, telling warstories and discussing technical aspects is enough... And on that note...can someone call BBC and History Channel and tell them that there is someone they should consider hiring as narrator for their documentaries!

I remember playing with the .1d back at the times of the old kv1s. on city maps like himseldorf I'd just snipe and angle my armour. kv1 s had problem penetrating with the "op gun". it was a brilliant tank to play

Im really enjoying this line, it was actually the first german line i enjoyed playing, just got to the VK3002D not too long ago and im really looking forward to the Leopards, which is the reason i started the line.

i loved the 30.01d when i had it and i am loving the 88mm l56. it is amazing and the gun penetration isnt an issue when you are so quick. yeah the turret is slow but i still enjoy it and it is surprisingly effective at going hull down. i use it as a scout in tier 9 games with binocs.i also enjoy having a health pool bigger than an IS. i wish i had enjoyed the 88mm on the 30.01h when it was a tier 6 medium.

3001D is one of my favourite tanks of all time. Fast, nimble, good gun, awesome accuracy on the move (when i see a tank i take the shot no matter how fast am i going). Armor that can sometimes bounce. However it's prone to engine fire and the dpm could be better.

The VK 3001D was the tank that I got my first 7 kill game in. Armour is super bouncy as long as you angle, and your transmission is never a problem like it is with other german tanks.

The thing I want out of a game like warthunder or world of tanks is to feel like I am in a battlefield and I don't think any game really does that well. Not to say these aren't fun games but it seems like the way these games are played is, press the spawn button, charge in guns blazing til you die. And even if you do't play like that a majority of players do. And although I actually dread the idea of infantry players coming to Warthunder, if it happens, I would like to play a game where I'm rolling around in a tank and all of the sudden infantry and Pak 43's open up on me. It would make games more dynamic, interesting, but I also know players don't play like that, no one would sit around a random spot of the map waiting for a possible enemy when they could be off guns blazing in a huge battle. Would be fun though (Jingles little rant on good anti tank guns make poor all purpose guns got me thinking of this)

Strangely i love the vk 3001D and the vk 3002D, it's really strong while fighting around corners letting them only your frontal slopping to them at a really good angle and it can bounce is3 shells easily :D

Jingles, I don't know how far back, but certainly long before vk36 became a heavy - the VKDB was a GREAT brawler tank in my opinion with the '88 and scmalturm. People still complained about it way back, but I did better in my DB than I did in my 36, which was the most loved of the 3 (or was it 4) german mediums at that time at tier 6 (? taking this completely from memory, I think it was later moved up a tier). Anyways, the extra health on the turret, and the small boost to armor and bounciness, and the low-acc but nice-pen and high dmg '88, made me use it as an opportunistic brawler, and on a very few occations a heavy tank due to large (largest of the meds) HP pool and angling. IIrc it had 2200 hp fully upgraded. Just wanted to share my experience, take care

To me the 88mm on VK3002D is the only way to go. With this gun you can trade shots with a T29 and come out on top. The DPM on this gun is just marvelous.

In the 3001 replay the chat about the TOGII being in the game is hilarious!

I can't quite remember why but I got the 3002 unlocked without playing the 3001 (Something about rearranging the tank progression lists) so I've never actually played the 3001 and to find out the 3002 is a carbon copy of the previous tank but a tier higher is quite annoying... still, least it's not an amx 12T

i had much fun playing the vk3002D with the 88 mm gun, the dpm is fantastic, good agility, it's like a VK tier VI on steroids =D

i love the VK 3001 D, it was my first t6 tank i ever had, and even now i have most games played in it...the VK3002D on the other hand....well its kinda like the retardet brother of the 01...ugly as shit and cant even pen shit >_>

The T-25 could be really interesting if they gave it an autoloader. They might have to up-tier it, though.

The VK 3002 is probably my favourite tank (tho' the Indien and the SU-152 are close too). I never had the "problem" of choosing guns, the 75 mm with the stock turret was far superior for me - better traverse, less weight--> more speed, better reload, better penetration. All these make this tank a very effective flanker (even Tier 9s can be penned from the side, if you know what to shoot for). And the troll armour is a bonus when you're top tier.

I liked the 3002d a lot I used the 88mm cause if it's great dpm and 1 shot dmg and the turrett traverse wasn't a big deal for me cause it already has good track traverse I had a game in that tank where u did 4k dmg

I found the VK3002DB a decent medium. When facing it I found it was quite 'bouncy'. It's just a matter of making sure that you angle it well.

The gun is great on the 30.01D, but unlike the T-34-85, the 30.01D is FAST and I mean FAST. Its so much faster than the 85. I love it.

I hate this game I really do. But not for the reasons that people might think. The game itself is fine. What upsets me are many of the players. You get all of these people who play this game and then all of a sudden they get it in their head that they have become experts in tanks and armored warfare. For instance when I went out and saw that 2014 film Fury several people here on RU-vid for constantly claiming that the Sherman that was being used by the main characters the tank aptly named fury was a British Firefly Sherman which it was not. Also many people were constantly saying that there's no way a Sherman would be able to survive a direct hit from a Tiger tank. Now granted in normal circumstances this is true but in the film you notice that the crew put basically an improvised armor over top of their standard tank armor consisting of logs which helped absorb a great deal of the impact from the 88 and this actually was something that was tried and ww2. But the main thing is I have seen people that go to museums and stuff with me and they start talking about Panzers and American tanks in Japanese tanks and everything and they believe that they know absolutely everything about them when in reality all of the information that they of God is from the world of Tanks computer game. Now I am aware that the design team actually did do a little bit of research on the tanks and for the most part it can be relatively true on a lot of it but even though this is so it doesn't mean that the individual playing automatically becomes an expert in tanks and tank warfare. That would be like somebody playing a Star Wars video game and then all of a sudden becoming an expert on laser technology. Or an individual playing Call of Duty and then claiming that their military historian. In closing I apologize for that rant but I just wanted to get that out of my head. Oh and jingles your presentation is very good it doesn't matter that the German pronunciation is a little off you know you're obviously not ethnically German so it wouldn't be surprising. Your voice is a little harsh but that's fine. Keep up the good work.

i love seeing little small tier tanks go out with a fight against higher tier tanks. people seem to forget that even tho an enemy may be 2 or 3 tiers higher you can still kill them

I think in one of Chieftain's articles he quoted frontline reports that Sherman crews desperately wanted the 76 mm and they spoke highly of the 76 mm HE for their greater blast radius. However the soldiers like the 105 mm even more for the firepower. It looks like even in real life tankers love derp guns lol.

I got my first Top Gun in T25 it was just epic then I had a match where it was like tier 6 or 7 and I was bouncing Exesciolers, Su-100s, and E8 going to have to find that replay file and post to WOTreplays

I have over 1,000 battles in the VK 30.01 D. I can say its very good when played right. It can take on some higher tiers heavies with some ease. It's definitely the best when matched properly.

I have tried the tier 6 vk medium tank and just can't seem to make them work. The Cromwell and T-34-85 are just better in just about every situation than these VK tank.

i like the vk3002 with its tier7 gun. its a very fun tank.

I have a replay of me shooting a tank that hasn't been spotted for 5 minutes on my first try. I was pretty happy when that happened.

Did I happen to hear Jingles say tier 10 mediums and tds were introduced in 8.4? Because I am pretty sure that was 7.5. And I also don't understand why people tk people in fail platoons. Sure, you are down a tank or two, but why not just use them as bait and farm damage off the idiots firing at them.

You know the comment early on about "he's got a stock king tiger with just the long 88mm gun". That phrase makes me think maybe the imaginary tanks aren't such a good thing. We should all wait for the Ratte and the 11 inch guns.

Part of the reason people, at least on NA that I see, TK failplatooners that are in tier 1 tanks, is because, sure, they COULD be useful as spotter...if they didn't 90% of the time roll to the back corner of the map and sit there. So then the thought becomes "Well, if we lose, he's gonna die back there anyways, may as well get my tank back afterwords a little faster and take him out now". As for turning blue and getting modwatch, well, typically such failplatoons don't piss off people so much unless they're in such a tier, i.e. 6 or higher, where 120-150 dmg can't almost be done by not paying attention and running into someone. Therefore it's not really enough to cause issues for you unless you make a habit of team damage, in which case you were well on your way to a ban anyways.

I think there are actually 3 (or more) DB tanks. The third tanks is the indien panzer.
