Hahaha yeah, I'm somewhat restrained in my videos, to keep it family-friendly. In private, at least when my kid isn't around, I do enjoy a good rant as much as the next fellow.

Not a bad ship, especially when you get the chance to play her to her strengths. Harder to carry than in other ships, I find personally, when you're in random teams.

That is definitely true. The AP can hurt CLs quite a bit, and happily citadels at range. Excellent HE against BBs. Not quite as useful against DDs due to dispersion, I find, unless they're being silly. Not the best allround / utility cruiser out there, but in her role, she's very good. Where I've been struggling is when it comes down to carrying my team, especially in situations where I can't play mobile / at range, like centre-cap / epicentre maps.

@@FunandGameswithTerry when I play french BBs in centre sap and epicentre I just put my stern in towards potential threats and pick on one ship at a time. Preferably stay close to an island as well. I think a similar playstyle could work with the Henri

Exactly that - she shines when she can be played to her strength, but needs the team to do the right thing.

I recommend checking out Flamu’s video on cruiser positioning where he uses the Mogami, and iChase’s video on IJN and USN cruiser positioning where he plays the Atago (Takao class). I know it’s wows PC, but lots of what they say is applicable in blitz, and watching those two videos in particular helped me so much. Flambass also demonstrates what not to do in an IJN heavy cruiser, while featuring the Ibuki in his “School of wows” series. Myoko, Takao, Ibuki and Zao have identical playstyles. These ships are very punishing of mistakes at higher tiers. They don’t do well in extended gunfights vs. other heavy cruisers. A Wichita, Hipper, Charles Martel or Amalfi that knows what it is doing can easily beat you. You can hit back hard as well, Takao has heavy broadside firepower, but you don’t have the hp to take much return fire. You can out trade them in short duration exchanges, however. You also have a TON of control over choosing the fights you want to take. With ~7.4km concealment, you generally get to fire first, and are fast and stealthy enough to disengage when you need to. Terry’s videos on the Maya and Myoko would be very helpful too. Takao’s AP is pretty solid, I would use it on everything under 8-9 km, aiming for the weak spots, of course. HE is better on DDs under 5 km, and gives consistent damage beyond 9km. Don’t rely on the torpedoes too much, that can end up going horribly wrong. Just use them for area denial, and dump them in the general direction of enemies that you are kiting away from. Break away from your reliance on the white indicator. Your guns have good HE and AP, and are quite reliable. Don’t hesitate to stop shooting and get undetected if you’re attracting too much attention. Takao’s armor is unreliable, and it has phenomenal concealment for a heavy cruiser.

In a 1:1 situation, they're certainly matched. Henri can keep the distance, and burn down the Hindi, whereas Hindi would probably win a brawl. Where they differ is the team situation imo. Hindi can take some fire, and has the torpedo strike capability to hold a position against anything but a CV. Hindi has the precision to AP destroyers into oblivion at long range, where Henri might have the rate of fire advantage, but struggles to get shells on target. I see Henri as more specialised, and Hindi more of an allrounder.

I haven't played Zao yet, so I can't say much (but I'm planning to give her a go soon). Hindenburg is an excellent ship imo, and I personally find her easier to play than the Henri. The German 203mm AP is murderous, in return, her HE isn't very good. Hindenburg has the edge in precision, she can get a lot of pain on target at long range, as some cheeky DDs have found out the hard way. Hindenburg has better armour - she can't tank like a BB, but against cruiser fire, she can take quite a beating, and while she doesn't have the torpedo range, she has the edge in pure damage output. No battleship can rush a Hindenburg that's holding a corner, since they'll be greeted with 16 torps and citadels. Same goes with DDs - while Hindi doesn't have the HE output and dps that an Henri has with the RR, she has the precision, and, once again, can saturate the vicinity with more torps than a Shima. Henri is more of a "specialised" ship - she's a good ranged HE spammer / kiter against large targets, and is dangerous against cruisers with AP, but struggles with DDs due to dispersion issues, and has to be constantly on the lookout in terms of positioning. Lastly, Hindenburg has a 4.5km sonar, which gives her an edge again in DD hunting.

I'm up to Algerie in my personal account, and she can do well, but oh boy does she attract citadels. It's a similar switch like with Yorck in the German line, you go from a very powerful T6 light cruiser to an average T7 heavy cruiser. The really interesting question for me is, how does the T8 do. Hipper is an excellent ship, well worth the grind, so I'll have to explore that for the French line as well. But yes, you don't see them all that often. They're HE spammers with decent AP, but there are more powerful HE spammers around. If Henri had quintuple launchers, or maybe two triples per side, that would give her a massive boost. I still have to play Zao, but I generally prefer smaller, more mobile ships, it does take some work to compensate for the lack of armour in something the size of Henri.

@@FunandGameswithTerry Went all the way to HIV; Charles is alright but she struggles with the other T8 cruisers because there's just so much competition from T8 and up. I actually switched to German cruisers after T8 simply because the Germans have more armor.

If you can hit them, that is :) Dispersion has me despair at times, especially against DDs.

The issue with haven is the southern spawn. Your left flank has a ways to go into C, and passes by two big opportunities to screw up: a DD spawns left and decides to go B, which is certain death in most cases, or someone gets into C, and parks right next to torpedo alley (the big gap between the islands). Inversely, the northern spawn can grab both caps rather quickly, and if the right flank decides to head for C, it can go badly, but usually, you'd get everyone set up defensively in B for a good firing position much earlier than the southern team can do in C.

Yes you lose one at the start always 😂 but with 3 players you can control it better where the rest goes i think Henry looks fun when you play it, but imo only t6 is good in the line i quit at t8 so no thx 😂 Des moines is a beast i play with dispersion not legendary mod Moskva godlike cruiser Soon i unlock minotaur love neptune already So no i think i found the cruisers i enjoy Only he-spam i play is black chappy really
