1. I actually like the color of the pants with that hoodie/jacket. 2. Being weird in the shower is more common than you’d think. Personally, I like to go “reptile mode”, crouch down on all fours, and spend a few minutes hunched over and crawling around, playing with the water, pretending I’m just now noticing I have a human body, and closing my eyes to further immerse myself in reptile mode. It’s magical, the highlight of the week sometimes. Highly recommend.
Dude Ive got to try reptile mode! I pretend im a vat grown human or cyborg and that they just took me out of stasis and I lie in the tub like its my tank and I pretend that I am experiencing life for the first time in a fully formed body with a mix of excitement, fear, wonder, and confusion.
I 10000% aggree with the "pretending to be dumb" one, my old job was so hard and I earned peanuts. My new job pays me 4x more and I pretend to be dumb so that they dont make me supervisor, and get this, supervisors get paid the same as my current role but with 3x the work load. So here I am, earning heaps and never getting promoted. It's amazing.
I agree with the line thing, I started a new job 4 months ago and almost every day since I started I leave and eat lunch in my car. People told me it’s weird and sad but it’s nice to just chill recline the chair and watch something. The one time I ate in the building someone came into the lunch room and talked to me about ovens for 25 minutes

I'm fortunate enough to live close to my workplace, so I just started driving home for lunch ever since I got my driving license. I can't imagine staying at work during lunch anymore, even if I were to spend it with the colleagues I get along with. House is empty, nice and quiet during the day, so I can enjoy my meal in peace and regain some of my sanity back before heading back to that mess.

I feel for that kid who came too soon. Years ago, there was this girl i knew for years and i spent forever being friends with her, never trying to overstep that boundary, but tbh I was absolutely crazy about her. Still one of the most beautiful people I've met. We were hanging out one night and she confessed her feelings for me, it felt like a dream tbh. one thing led to another and we went to the bedroom, but i ended up getting such bad stage fright, that i really couldn't "do the deed" so to speak.. I was honestly just so nervous that this beautiful girl would have anything to do with me, and I choked lol. I told her that it wasn't her, and I was just nervous. it hurt her feelings i could tell, and we never really talked after that. life sucks sometimes.

On the pretending to be dumb at work thing: Being too good at a job can cost you a promotion and can lead to poor treatment at work because they need you to do *that* job. If half of the work for a specific position is done by a single person then why would you move them into another role when the current job won't be getting done as well? Best thing you can do is make the person feel like they don't have any leverage by treating them poorly and keep them in the position they're doing well at then move others into other roles. Working hard is a good way to get noticed, working too hard makes you too valuable at your current position.
At one of my performance reviews my boss congratulated me on my raise and said I deserved to be making over twice as much ...I wasn't the one who got the raise lmao. I never got a raise there. The department folded when i left 💅

i also act dumb at work and its true its so much lighter when it comes to workload and it's easy to flip around if u do want a promotion, just start working slightly harder and everyone notices despite u still not working to the best of ur ability. that's what happened to me
the fake fart story reminded me of this episode of my favorite gossip podcast where they talk about this family story where someone flushed a hot dog one year and nobody in the family confessed to doing it. it went on for like twenty years and they confessed to the grandpa on his death bed but still didn’t tell the rest of the family who did it until way after. gold.

Poop story reminds me of a story My favorite murder told where someone shared they farted in their mail sorting job and it was so bad their coworker thought it was a gas attack and told them to leave so they could clear the area for safety. I don't care if either of these stories are fake or real cause they are beautiful.
The "I pretend I'm dumb at work" thing... I completely understand.... I dont feel like a leader but keep getting leadership roles.... I start as a cook then end up managing, but my pay stays the same... I've never said anything, but as I've gotten older, I realise how unfair that has been on me 🤷♂️

@Viser pretty difficult to own your own place when boomers/gen xers are trying to retire off selling their business spaces at highly inflated prices, banks interest rates on business loans are a rip off and the cost of ingredients due to the large amount of useless middle man suppliers that have sprouted up post pandemic. Many of which can't offer a consistent ingredient as they are often too disorganized to keep proper inventory. I'm switching industries for the mean time. 5-10 years when everyone is done with garbage food that tastes the same as everywhere else is supplied by either GFS and SYSCO. it will change soon. By passionate people like myself. Just a matter of time.
My best friend's mom was at a check up at the hospital in her third trimester when cravings struck. She went into the nurses' break room, found a cake gifted to them by a patient and dug in. She was caught red-handed by a midwife who told her it wasn't the first time it had happened. They were quite used to having their cakes eaten by pregnant ladies.

the post about getting more and more work without a promotion is unfortunately super true. i had a job dangle promotion in my face for months before ultimately giving it to someone else despite them not putting in half of the work i did. it definitely happens, but leaving is for sure the right choice.
My mom did something similar to the pregnant woman eating the cake when she was pregnant with me - instead of chocolate cake, it was a rotisserie chicken and she started eating it while driving home.
Omg. I do that with my work. When I was 16 I worked in a bakery and they sent me to train to be a baker. By 18 they thrust me into running the bakery !!! 18 years old. It was almost 6 years of hell. Non stop 16 hour shifts and stress being in charge of millions of pounds of orders. So when I left that job I basically showed zero motivation in future jobs. I don’t show enthusiasm for promotion opportunities and keep my work rate and stats right in the middle. I coast and I’m happy this way.

The "pretend to be dumb" piece of advice is incredible honestly. The stuff people will tell you because they think you'll forget or are too dumb to actually understand (like tons of secrets, gossip, plans,etc), is astonishing and very very entertaining.

the part about acting dumb at work hit me. i got promoted about 5 months ago to a supervisor position by busting my ass and showing that i was capable of handling it. but now that ive set the bar there i just couldnt give less of a fuck because the pay straight up just isnt worth it and i dont see a future for myself at this company. now i wanna regress to being the dumb worker that doesnt get asked to do things but i cant lmfao
