The Irish Guy takes a look at every Euro 2021 team's manager and decides whether they would have made the current starting XI were they still a player.
you see a lot of people think that two people who look alike are siblings but that's not always the case..... you've gotta remember the fish in England is great only when we eat it with chips and who knows why they are so fond about the tea coz they think that makes them unique in some way but even Americans and Mexicans drink tea and like i said Ross and Monica were siblings too but they didn't look alike
Fun fact about Tatran Presov (Slovakias manager former team). There's a term used in Czech rep. and Slovakia "Presovsky beton", which is used like "parking the bus". It originated during the 80s from Presov style of play, which was sitting deep, obviously.
Wenger had a great playing career actually. He won the league with RC Strasbourg in 1979, thing is the guy was so talented at coaching the reserve team that he didnt actually had much time to play with the first team, but he was probably a darn great midfielder
It’s actually so annoying when he does that! Like why can he not just speak normal he over pronounces words beginning with B and P and it’s just stupid and irritating 🤮
This is a really interesting concept - it goes to show how different club and country management is considering some of the players at the top job internationally.
Yup, thats the netherlands team history. Put them against 1998s Brazil or 2010s Spain they keep a competitive game. Put them against 2002 Ireland or 2018 Bulgaria and they choke beyond belief.
Losing to Burak Yılmaz isn't that bad tho, considering he was competing for UCL top scorer at one point. Not being able to defend fucking Kenan Karaman on the other hand...
No shame in losing to Greece (twice) at home. What was embarrassing was failing to get out of a group that contained Poland, South Korea and The US in the World Cup 2002. Back there were no Lewandowski, Son Heung Min or Sergino Dest/Pulisic quality players, whereas Portugal had the bulk of the Golden Generation (Figo, Rui Costa, Joao Pinto, etc.) at their disposal.
@@soulsmischief2626 On a whole yes, especially the South Korea fixtures but that group in particular was weird. Portugal beat the one team (Poland) that was also supposed to qualify from the group but lost to the US and South Korea. In the end both Poland and Portugal were sent home early when, in theory, they were favourites to qualify.
2016 everything clicked for Portugal. I would have never predicted them winning the tournament but they did. Portugal always had good international players combined with exceptional talents but they could never compete with the elite footballing nations like Germany, Italy, France, Brasil etc.. That Euro 2016 win could prove to be a game changer.
@@mahomednaheez9862 yeah, but france and argentina also failed to qualify for the round of 16, and they had even better squads, although argentina had the hardest group. But frances group..., its really a miracle that france was so poor in 2002. my country germany even went to the final, and we were bang average
9:50 Panathinaikos in the early 2000s was the team with a Champions League semi final and quite a few members of the winning Greek Euro 2004 team. And right before Fernando Santos' appointment, they had finished as first place in a group stage that included Arsenal's invisibles, Eto'o 's Majorca and new stadium Shalke. Then finished 2nd in a group with Real Madrid(Champions), Porto and Sparta Prague. Then getting disqualified by Barcelona of Henrique, Kluivert and Rivaldo 3-2. While Panathinaikos was arguably the better team and even the favourites according to most betting companies... .
Southgate wasn't a clogger. He was a fairly technical cb. Which is part of why he had such a good disciplinary record. It's not as though he would be competing for a place against a cb crop like that in the 2000s now. I don't think there is enough quality about at the moment to keep him out of the squad. He didn't get all those caps by accident, you need to be good to keep getting picked for England at mid-table clubs.
Bruce is 10 years older than Southgate. There was only one year of overlap between Bruce at Man Utd and Southgate in the England team. Bruce turned 35 the year Southgate made his England debut. Southgate wasn't in at Bruce's expense. You'd have to look to other players for that.
Finnish dude here. Markku Kanerva probably wouldn't make our current team or at least wouldn't make the starting XI. Never saw him play but judging by his CV, I wouldn't trust him over our current, relatively solid defenders.
Given what England are like in defence at present I think Southgate would fancy his chances of getting in the current England team. Especially whilst he keeps on playing five at the back along with two defensive midfielders
Southgate was an unbelievable CB if he had played for your club and you watched him week in week out live you would understand why he would be head and shoulders the best CB in Englands national squad.
@@user-bh4gw7ck4d stones is the only one who's close in his current form and at least Southgate was consistently quality his entire career. The other two aren't even in his league
@@robbo03 yeh agreed stones has potential to be a world class player agreed but it remains to be seen if he can produce his current type of performances over a long period of time
Screw fantasy football, we need a weekly Irish Guy Bingo. I'm not going to attempt to list all of his catchphrases/sayings, but there are enough to make a pretty competitive international tournament.
Roberto Martinez to Pep Guardiola, is like the Spanish version of Phill Neville and Gary Neville. But Martinez wouldn't have the brother connection to get him some benefits. I'll always respect Martinez for the way he presented himself during the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. Him and Rogers really managed to capture the feeling of the unity between the reds and blues at that time. I doubt I'm the only reds fan who doesn't have any disdain towards Everton for 36 games of the season. I hate to lose and love to win that derby. Its absolutely must win every time, and anything less feels like a defeat. But if Liverpool was to disappear tomorrow and not reform, Everton would be the club I'd support. I wouldn't go as far as saying they're my second club or anything, but they're a club that I respect and kinda love/hate them like they're a little brother who I have a really competitive relationship with
For the US: Gregg Berhalter: No. He played mostly in the Netherlands and Germany, most notably with Energie Cottbus and 1860 Munich in Germany. He captained Energie Cottbus to promotion in 06 before moving to 1860 back in the 2nd tier. Got 44 caps for the USMNT and was on the 06 World Cup squad but didn't play in any games. Definitely wouldn't start over Brooks, Miazga, McKenzie, Richards, or Ream. Would be fighting MLS guys like Zimmerman and Robinson for the last CB roster spot
You absolutely destroyed our managers name, it's with two K's, MarKKU, put some pressure on the letters. His surname is kinda how you would pronounce Cannavaro's but just the "Ca"-part and then ad "nerva", like you would pronounce nervous but remove the ous and add an a. Love the content and only wish to help you!
