@@Catherine.Dorian. So, Ben wrote the song but Amy later edited it She completely changed the 8 bar section at the end (just before the band) And she turned Ben's piano chords into the melody you hear on this version Ben wrote the song about his grand father, who died Apparently Ben used to look after him in his old age Amy did write a song regarding her sister that died, that song is called... Hello. I hope that helps ✌️
I played this song so much after my husband died from cancer..It always gets me in my feels...I WEPT so many tears after the numbness went away...😢❤ Great reaction
I’m in the same way. In the almost 6 years I have been a widow, this song brings me to tears almost every time I hear it. Amy Lee has a real gift of being able to express pain through her voice. Praying for you and all the other widows out there.
I did exactly the same thing when we lost my sister Roz in 2015, Still miss you Fozzybear but, I'll see you after.... I INSISTED we played this playlist to see her on her way after we scattered her ashes walking the boundary of our parents croft in Scotland. My Immortal, Evanescence. The drugs don't work, The Verve. Sonnet, The Verve. Bittersweet symphony. Annies song, John Denver. Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Pink Floyd. Wish You were here, Pink Floyd. We've only just begun by The Carpenters. Lucky man, The Verve. Matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs, Brian & Michael. Daydream Believer, The Monkees. Hey Hey We're The Monkees. Our House, Madness. I play them often, bawl my eyes out, weep, smile, laugh and remember...
I am so sorry for your loss I lost my daughter at the age of 24 in 2015 and like you this song always brings me to tears sending you a hug from one parent to another ❤
I happen to be a tough cold-hearted. S, Obie, but when I hear Amy's lee's voice on this song even I come to tears. The lady is not only beautiful. I take on the flames of hell Wearing gas soaked pagames to be with because not only beautiful but she has the voice of an angel hands down. I don't know any female singer with a prettier voice
"Hello" is another really sad one of hers, she's never performed it live. It's also about a loved ones death, like "My Immortal" is. Both songs give me goosebumps.
So BMTL is what introduced me to Amy but this song is what made me fall deeply in love with her and the band. This song is about losing someone and having their spirit staying attached to you. I lost my sister a long time ago and everytime I listen to this beautiful masterpiece it reminds me of her. Amy is an all time goat and my personal favorite musician of all time. I relate to her so much and she has saved me from doing some stupid shit. She is not just a fantastic singer but she is also a fantastic pianist and harpist and she also writes all of her songs. Just an all around beautiful and talented and amazing artist that to me deserves way more love and respect. Great reaction and please react to more of her. If you want another beautiful ballad then I suggest reacting to “Hello”. It’s about her sister that she lost when they were super young. If you want to rock out then I suggest to listen to “Going Under”. That one is an absolute banger. Anyways again great reaction and sorry about this long ass comment. Lol.
Hi.. Greedings from Germany.. In this,, there simmilar Songs in German, to. Try ,, Broilers-ihr da oben(you, up in the sky) makes my wife cry, cause a friend died, when Th song came out.. ,, Null positiv - wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer,, (about war tragic) Ebjoy, without understanding.. The words
For me, this song helped me through some of the darkest points of grief I felt when my brother passed. I was 10 and he was 12, but it was especially rough when I was in my late teens and going through severe depression. It's just a beautiful and haunting song.
Amy lost her sister. This is her pain. She had a younger sister who died at age three from an unidentified illness when Amy was six years old. It left her ruminating about death.
Every song is up for interpretation. But I think she has passed and it's about his grief. Notice she never touches the floor. And she talks of wounds not healing. Her wrists are wrapped. But everyone is different. The beauty of music. But there's no doubt Amy Lee can sing!
My perspective of the theme of the song is that even though she is singing, the guy in the suit walking around is the one that is feeling this about her who has passed away. You can see him walking around aimlessly looking for her on the streets, but she's in a different plane of existence (which is why she is dressed as she is and never on the ground, she's always on top of something keeping her away from him).
So, Ben (the piano guy in yhe video) wrote the song but Amy (leas singer) later edited it She completely changed the 8 bar section at the end (just before the band) And she turned Ben's piano chords into the melody you hear on this version Ben wrote the song about his grand father, who died Apparently Ben used to look after him in his old age Amy did write a song regarding her sister that died, that song is called... For the "record": "The lyrics of the song refer to a spirit that haunts the memory of a grieving loved one. Similar to several other songs written by [Ben] Moody, the lyrics of the song are based on a short story he had previously written. According to Lee, it was "Ben [Moody]'s song." Moody said that the song talks about "a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone." He also stated in the booklet of Fallen that he dedicated the song to his grandfather, Bill Holcomb. In "My Immortal", Lee expresses her feelings through the line, "Though you're still with me / I've been alone all along.A writer for IGN said that "'My Immortal' is a song of pain and despair caused by the loss of a family member or very close friend and how it drove her [Lee] to the edge of insanity." It's not about a breakup, but also I always like to remind myself that what a song means to me can have a very different meaning to someone else. If it resonates with you as being about a breakup that doesn't make you wrong. For me it was always clear to me that what the song made me feel was that it was about losing something, and being in mourning, specifically being stuck in a type of perpetual mourning. To be specific I always thought the song was about a mother mourning the loss of her child. I didn't see the music video for many many years but when I did finally see it for the first time, all those years ago, the imagery served to strengthen the foundation of my original thoughts and feelings about what I thought it was about. In fact it took me from a place of imagining it was about a mother mourning the loss of her child, to, after seeing the mans presence in the video, it actually seemed about not just a mother but a father also, both in mourning. Both stuck in perpetual morning. The name of the song "My Immortal" translated from the obvious meaning of someone living for ever, to, someone who lives forever and being stuck in this type of mourning for their child.. indefinitely.
I recommended The Synthesis versions of Imaginary, Lacrymosa and Lithium, as well as Hello and Haunted in your last Evanescence video, but you definitely gotta check out the Synthesis version of My Immortal as well, her vocals are just so otherworldly in the Synthesis versions.
When she was little, her sister died , and she was very worried. There is a Hello song about this, and most likely this song is in the continuation of this theme
Gorgeous!!!! Please do check out Corvyx's version of this! it will blow your mind. He sings in the original key. Just do a search on his name, he does EPIC covers. He's also covered My Heart Will Go On!!!
How about I throw you in a different direction. Shock rock- Marilyn Manson- beautiful people, or Tainted Love. Alice Cooper- poison. All 3 are super catchy songs, very rocky and shock value. But equally excellent songs. Loving your reactions.
She did write one about her sister but this one was actually by the guy on the piano who lost his grandpa after taking care of him. The song for her sister is called like you. Both are beautiful
This is Ben Moody's writing (the guitarist of the band at the time) and he confirmed years ago that this is fictional. It was first recorded in 1998 as a demo, you can find the original version on youtube.
If you want to hear an example of how she can harmonize, look up Break In by Halestorm featuring Amy Lee. While My Immortal shows how strong her voice can be, Break In shows her ability to pull it back when needed. Something that is difficult to do. If you want some more Evanescence, look up Call Me When Your Sober. It is more like Being Me To Life than My Immortal. But all three are great songs.
The story behind this song is actually a little murky. There's several different things people have read or heard. I read that Amy wrote the lyrics as a poem when she was only 16 and it's about a close friendship that faded away. I've also heard it's about her sister who died when she was a child. I've also heard it was written by the lead guitarist (no longer with the band) about his grandfather who passed away. The video heavily portrays there was a death, though. I think the band likes the mystery behind the song. It allows everyone to take something different from it.
If you want to try one of her newer songs, check out "Love Goes On" by Amy Lee and Lindsey Sterling. Lindsey is a HARDCORE violinist and I also HIGHLY recommend checking out some of her songs too like "Roundtable Rival", "The Arena" and "Shatter Me" with Lizzy Hale.
This is not like the initial version when this song was first released. The initial version didn't use drums and guitars so it felt sadder and darker. I really liked the initial version, it helped me remember the past and the people of the past.
Amy is a ghost in the video meaning she's dead this song is about grief and losing someone i believe she said she dedicated this to her brother that passed away and she also has 2 songs for her sister that also passed one is called hello and the other one is called Like you
A person who also conveys emotion through his own songs and singing !!!!!! 🌀JANN🌀 Make a reaction to Jann's live performances, please, e.g: 🔥Chillizet Live Session: Jann - Promise 🔥
no it's not. This is Ben Moody's writing and he confirmed years ago that this is fictional. It was first recorded in 1998 as a demo, you can find the original version on youtube.
