This cover blew me away. I mean, when you decide to cover a song this iconic, this much of a classic and in front of the original band-you best get it right. And, they got it right.
This is not just a cover, it was a tribute to LZ. Jason is not only the son of John Bonham, he is the godson of Robert Plant. Heart is represented there by lead singer Ann Wilson and sister Nancy (on the accoustic guitar -- always fabulous). You might consider watching the whole tribute too. All the artists involved did great.
This was not a cover. This was a tribute to the greatest rock song ever and done to perfection. Led Zepplin and Stairway deserve all the accolades that can be bestowed on them. It took a great singer, full orchestra and 2 choirs to even come close to what 4 guys did. Plant had tears and you can see pages zeroing in on every not that was being played in the solo. Just a great tribute.
Also, Magic Man. I still have my original albums of Dreamboat Annie and Dog and Butterfly. Now my 25 yr old son (yes, we are geezer parents), who plays quitar has been going through all my classic rock and folk vinyl from my high school and college years. I graduated HS in 73, so IMHO, we had so much great music.
Dude you have to learn a little more about Heart. They’re a huge band from the 70’s and 80’s and they still perform. Ann and Nancy Wilson are two sisters and Heart has put out dozens of albums over the years. If you want to listen to some of their stuff, I’d recommend “Barracuda”, or “Love Alive” or “Magic Man”. The lead singer, Ann Wilson does play the flute and has played that part on Stairway before. Maybe there were time constraints here. I know it was a TV spot. Also, Heart did a live unplugged album in collaboration with JPJ in the 90’s called The Road Home. Their albums Dreamboat Annie and Little Queen are their best I think. Some people like their 80’s stuff better. I much prefer the stuff they did in the 70’s. Heart was inducted into the RRHOF in 2013 I believe. Rock on! Love your vids!! 🤘
I know I do I heard heart was great and I want to react to them. Thanks for letting me know a little about the band so I can be more equipped for my future reactions
Saw Heart back in 1975 in my hometown of Kelowna B.C Canada while touring with April Wine and Heart, which was back up band. Heart was as great as this was
this is one of the most iconic covers ever. Imagine performing this with the band members there (tearing up). John Bonham's son Jason giving a heart pump to them from the stage! Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart just killing it, and the choir joining in. Just gives me chills. May be one of the most popular and important rock songs ever.
Somebody may have said this, but Jason was invited to sit with Zeppelin's members in the audience, but he said he was busy doing something else. They were genuinely surprised when he showed up to play the drums.
Imagine the memories and emotions going through Plant's mind as he experiences this! I first saw them play in Maryland in May of 1969. That's a lot of memories to come flooding back. Lots for me too. Many years of great times and a wonderful time to be alive!!
Never gets old, watching this. And you seeing it for the 1st time. 😁 Read thru comments so can give some info. Jason Bonham on drums in his dads boller hat...and the choir. Ann was 62y young when she belted that out in 12!! Ann is known for her vocals, Nancy is known for her guitar swagger. Breaking out in 70s as a female lead rock band next to greats such as LZ, was a challenge but THEY did it!! Heart hits try "Barracuda," "Magic Man" "Straight On" "Crazy On You" "Alone" "Never" "These Dreams" or anything that Heart put out we'll be here. Jason was kept quiet from LZ as a surprise and it was Jason who told them KCH it better be Heart. He's toured with them. Plant's response was more missing Bonzo, quite emotional. But still blew them away!! Jason was playing drums very early on as a tot. I think of this as a tribute than a cover. Tbh, no one has had any negative comments just that it's a cover. 👍🏽😊
Dude, first, this is THE BEST cover of all time. Secondly, my heart is wounded to know that you don’t know who Heart is. Go, seek, and ye shall find. These two women are rock goddesses! 💜
Ann and Nancy Wilson started in the late 60's/early 70's in Seattle primarily as a Led Zeppelin cover band until they started writing their own material. They almost always included an LZ cover in their concert performances, usually Black Dog, but sometimes others. Go back an check out the early Heart and I think you'll be amazed at the way they broke into the industry.
With all respect, this version is better based solely on the fact that it means more. A whole generation coming to a close via a song. One of the greatest rock bands ever, doing an impossible song for the very guys who wrote it. Way more of an impact and will be remembered for all human times. What and honor to be on stage and to be honored. Very very classy.
Heart,Ann and Nancy Wilson has also done covers of Kashmir, Black Dog,The Battle Of Evermore.among others..But they have a lot of their own songs too..Check them out...
Great Review. Heart are a fantastic Band. Anne and Nancy Wilson are main members. My Girlfriend loves Them. I love this Track. Phil Collins Drummed for Zeppelin at Live Aid, in 1985 RONNIE Scotland 🏴🎸🎸
Ann & Nancy Wilson of 'Heart'......are sisters. Ann's the voice & Nancy's the guitarist. They've been rockin' since the 70's. They do covers of at least a couple of Zeppelin tunes AND Pink Floyd. Look up 'Mistral Wind'....live from Seattle. I think it was recorded maybe in 2006? In their hometown on the last night of their tour.
The first time I heard this my jaw dropped. They pulled this off LIVE!! They kicked azz! Robert had tears in his eyes. I saw Heart their first tour. They opened up for Dave Mason. They blew the roof off. Dave came out after with an acoustic guitar and pedals. He actually got booed. I felt for the guy but talk about bad choice for opening band.
Oh man, I grew up in my teens with the greatest music ever! Late 60s v and all 70s. Led Zeppelin is my favorite group x over 50 yrs. Heart I heard on the radio- but Ann Wilson's vocal pipes are jaw dropping. She is in her 70s here. Still has it!!! This performance original one I had goosebumps and tears. So damn hard to cover this band. She nailed it. You might enjoy another female vocalist named Beth Hart. She is mostly blues. But did a Led Zeppelin album not to long ago. She and Ann nailed it. Seriously you will love Beth. Don't ck out live am I the one at first. Maybe later. Robert Plamt is crying mostly because John Bonham was their drummer who passed away and they disbanded the group then. Robert and he were great friends. The guy you see on drums is Jason Bonhams son Josh. He surprised them being their for the tribute. That's why. And to be honest-- what a performance! I am crying and goosebumps and I've seen it numerous times.. epic. I can't believe you failed to mention The singer Ann Wilson...wow!!
I don't remember the exact year......but about a week or two before this aired on PBS.....I saw 'Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience' perform at The Silver Legacy in Reno NV. They nailed song after song.....& I remember during some of those tunes....home movies of him as a young kid & the rest of Led Zeppelin....played on large screens behind him. They sounded fantastic.
I'm looking at the Creedance Clearwater Revival poster behind you, the album is Cosmos Factory, they actually do a fantastic cover of " I heard it through the grapevine " mind you anything off that album is amazing. So any CCR song would be great. Hi from Perth Australia 😎🎶🎵🎶👋🦘
On Dec 10th last year Led Zeppelin released the full concert video of their concert at London's O2 Arena in London. Jason played the entire set that was about 2 hours. The name of that Led Zeppelin concert 'Celebration Day' This concert sold out in Record Time! So many people including musical artists from the 60's thru to the bands of the new Millennium !!! Celebration Day is on Led Zeppelin 's official RU-vid Channel !
I agree with another comment. Dig into heart!! Best female rockers for sure!! Ann’s voice is also second to none!! Ann and Nancy are sisters ( Nancy plays guitar , blonde hair).
Ann and Nancy Wilson are the only members of Heart here. Everyone else are excellent musicians who were invited to preform. Check out Heart’s “Barracuda, Magic Man and Crazy on You.” Heart is one of the first female rock bands from the 70’s. They are sisters. Ann was 62 and Nancy 60ish when this was preformed.
Heart was 2 sisters Ann (black hair - singer) and Nancy (blonde hair - guitar) along with male members. They started in the early 70's and were influenced by Led Zeppelin. Their first hit songs were Barracuda, Crazy on You and Magic. They recorded another rocking song in 1993, Black on Black II. I *HIGHLY* suggest reacting to those songs. I also suggest reacting to Heart's recorded cover of Led Zeppelin's "Rock N Roll" You may not like covers (I don't care for them either) but you will be not be disappointed at this cover.
Jason Bonham most definitely played drums from a very young age. He was doing sound checks at gigs such as Knebworth when he was a child and holding his own with Zep songs even then.
This was the Kennedy Center Honors. President Obama was there as well a great many others. Heart was huge back then too with Ann Wilson being the best singer around.
For more great drumming - check out Shane Hawkins killing it at the Taylor Hawkins ( his dad) tribute by Foo Fighters . This 16 year old will blow your socks off! And playing on his pop’s drum set only months after Taylor passed! 😢❤.
Try reacting to Joe Cocker's cover of the Beatles "With a little help from my friends," live at Woodstock in 1969. Such a great cover that it prompted George Harrison to call Joe to tell him that, after watching Joe's version, it was his song now.
Speaking of great covers, have you checked out Candlebox’s cover of Loverboy’s Turn Me Loose? They did it straight with no embellishment, and absolutely killed it. The video is pandemic/zoom style with each musician in their own home studio, and they even pay homage to the original video at the beginning.
Love your channel kid. Keep up the great work! I see that Molly Hatchet poster behind you. I sure do hope that a 'Flirtin with Disaster' reaction is coming soon.
FYI the guy in the back playing acoustic guitar is Kyle Gass one half of tenacious d with Jack Black ✌️........just discovered your channel today......... I'm definitely subscribing 🤘
It kind of bums me out that are young but still know Zepplin but don't know Heart. The reason that this tribute is next level is because of Ann Wilson.
Robert was crying because their drummer, Bonzo, couldn't be there. So Robert asked his son Jason to rep for his Dad. Jason said he had a scheduling conflict and couldn't be there. Then he surprised them when he came out with Heart. You gotta check out Zeppelin's live version of Stairway.
ZEPPELIN said that should have asked Jason to be there. They didn't know he was gonna surprise them. They are wearing hats like John used to wear. Plant is Jason's godfather. When Plant's 5 yr old son died Bono was the one that got him to carry on.
Here's another Led Zeppelin cover you might like. It's Zepparella doing When The Levee Breaks. Link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xH-_9cwdLug.html

Robert plant his crying because he misses his best mate John Bonzo Bonham and to see his god son Jason playing because he didnt know Jason was going to be there
I've seen a ton of reactions to this tribute. Yours cut the video in half and was not particularly enjoyable to watch. Props to Ann and Nancy, so sad that you're not aware of Heart and their legacy of rock excellence.
