I love the mix of books you choose for this readathon. I didn't participate but Around the world in 80 days is on my list for this year to read.

What an awesome recap! I've heard from several people that Sound and Fury is not very good. Sounds like I should go ahead and keep it off my future TBRs!

Yeah, I know a couple other Booktubers who didn't enjoy the Sound and the Fury either. But who knows, maybe you might enjoy it.

This was lovely, Anne. I completely understand being super excited for a readathon and that excitement waning over time. ❤

Yes! I think I'm going to do only month long readathons now, because I can stay motivated better.

Such an interesting mix of books for this readathon! I have some William Faulkner on my TBR but I am weary of reading his work. Hearing your review didn't make me more eager to pick him up haha.

Yeah...I do want to read more William Faulkner, but my introduction to him didn't encourage me to read more of his.

Ten or so books in eighty days may not be too bad to get through, on the surface, as soon as you started naming the books, it got insane pretty quickly 😅 If I had a time frame to read a specific amount of books, I would make sure The Count of Monte Cristo would not be there.😂 Completely understandable that you had to switch a few out.

Ha, considering how many long books I had to read, I'm surprised how good I did. Not only The Count of Monte Cristo, but The Betrothed was also 700 pages, and Ivanhoe was like 500. So lots of long books, lol.

Great selection! I love books on Egypt and both of those sound amazing. I don't remember if I asked you this or not...do you have a specific translation of the Catholic Bible that you would recommend? I've been looking into them online and most have good reviews. An abundance of good reviews makes it so much harder to choose... as I normally just weigh the pros and cons.

Yes, Egypt is great! And I have two copies of the New American Catholic Bible, and I like that one. I also own a Didache Bible (which is basically the Catholic Bible with commentaries from the Catechism of the Catholic Church), and I enjoy that one. But I'm definitely not an expert on Bible translations. There are so many!

@@AnneEWilliamson Thank you, I'll Make sure to read samples of those two versions. I was going to order online but I'm thinking maybe going to a Catholic book store would be better. It's amazing how many translations there are. It's also hard for me not to get sucked in by the ones that have art in them 😅

@AnneEWilliamson Год назад
Darn, Siobhan is right. Ah well, I did really struggle with the Irish names, and had to look up the pronunciation of quite a few.
