Thanks for mentioning Ken Follett in an earlier video. I read _Eye of the Needle_ this month and it was very good. I may get to _Pillars of the Earth_ someday.

I hope you enjoy Pillars of the Earth more then I did!

I read Imitation this Lent too. I agree, it was very enlightening. It paired very well with my slow read of the Gospel of St. Luke. Have you seen the Bogie adaptation of Maltese Falcon? I think it's (gasp) better than the book! I read Pillars a LONG time ago, so I don't remember much. I did like Prior Philip like you did. And I agree the fixation on women was off. Though, I think Follet was not doing because he feels that way himself. I think he's assuming all medieval men were horrible misogynists.

I haven't seen the Bogie adaptation yet, but I've definitely heard others say it's better then the book, so I want to see it! And I agree with you about Follet. His writing is brilliant, but I don't think he really understood people of that era.

The Maltese Falcon was on my reading list a while back, and I never got around to it. I completely forgot about it until now---I don't think I ever found out what it was about haha And yeah, unfortunately, I do agree, WWIII is only a matter of when at this point. Not looking like a fun future 😬

I've just finished 'Twelfth Night' and enjoyed it. My plan was to read 'King Lear' this month, but I was in the mood for a comedy and I decided to try and do all the prompts for the Shakespeare readathon. 😊

Twelfth Night is so much fun! King Lear definitely is darker, so I can understand picking another comedy instead. The comedies are definitely my favorite!

I'm listening to Antony and Cleopatra on LibriVox. Both things are thanks to you! I plan on reading a No Fear Shakespeare copy of the play after listening to it.

Oh, that's exciting! I love LibriVox. Currently on Henry 6th Part 2. And I look forward to reading Antony and Cleopatra this month too!

Listening to the play was difficult. My mind kept wandering so I have a new plan. I’m reading Asimov’s Guide which tells the story in an interesting way, explains who everyone is and when Shakespeare is changing to story away from history. Hopefully I’ll be ready to read the play then.

Yeah...I find it helps me to listen to the play while reading it, so then I have multiple senses (visual and auditory) working to help me understand it. And that's interesting. I haven't heard of Asimov's Guild.

I didn’t go on with Ken Follett after Pillars for the exact reasons you shared. He’s not for me, either. I still need to finish Pickwick Papers. 😬😂 I got a Murder in an Irish Village on my kindle from the library! Can’t wait! 😄

Yeah, Pickwick Papers was honestly hard to finish because the middle was a bit slow, but I hope you enjoy Murder in an Irish Village when you read it!

Wow, you accomplished a lot of reading this month 👏 I'm currently re-reading Emma. Also The picture of Dorian Gray (which is so amazing) and several others that are cluttering my nightstand. I like to have a half a dozen or so books going with various themes.
