Very nice build. You must know Kieth Tanner. I plan on building a Miata powered roadster that's more like a 1920's Riley than a 7. One tip- drive with your headlamps always on as many people cannot see small cars. Cheers.
Beautiful, beautiful build. You seem reluctant to call your car a 7. Don't. If Chapman would have had the parts selection we have in the 2000's, and the legal restrictions to consider, yours might be the car he would have TRIED to build. I think your fabrication skills are considerably better than the Lotus factory's. I hope you have found a bit of twisty road to play on that gives you a lot more entertainment time than the straight-a-ways you were driving at the end of the video.
Currently building the exact same car but 1.8L Miata (MX5) Haynes Roadster. I'm considering the same idea of reinforcement @ 5:40 as I don't have a tig welder for aluminium and I've already spray painted it. I hope mine looks as good as this build when it's finished
Great hearing from you. We do a lot of livestreams like this. If you'd like to share your build experience in a recording or live, (see the "about" on the channel and) send me an email. Cheers! Jim
Excellent work!! I'm about to start my build. I'm a beginner, learning and collecting parts and tools. I'm leaning toward 442E chassis, 2.5L Duratec, Miata 6 speed NC transmission, and the same LSD as you have(still need to find one though). Do you have a build log?
Not really - I got tired of losing photos on LocostUSA, so stopped updating it. I posted photos along the way on my Facebook page. I read and reread all kinds of plans, books and build logs! Sounds like you have a solid plan.
