When I saw the vid that Glen and Friends Cooking did on this wartime mock sausage I knew I had to give it a go. And to be honest, it’s not bad. It’s not sausage, but it’s not bad. I think with a few tweaks it could be a very tasty vegetarian option (could easily make it vegan too)

This is the first non-sandwich video of yours I’ve watched, and I can’t even begin to explain why, but for half a second my brain was genuinely surprised and disappointed that you don’t have a completely different kitchen for your different channel 😂

I bet they used a “leftover fat” like bacon grease or schmaltz. Butter was likely rationed too. Love the dive into old school meat substitutes. Keep it coming Barry!!❤❤

My initial reaction was that instead of sage, using some Indian spices might be an interesting direction to go towards.

Looks good. Sausage is an obvious target for meat substitutes, seems like the big names would really go for that market.

I doubt they used butter like this. That was rationed along with the meat. But almost everyone had a stash of lard or bacon fat. Then it might taste more like sausage.
