That sounds kind of dumb. How can a superhero movie end with the bad guy winning? Most of them are trying to take over the world or destroy it. The only way is if the villain wins in the first movie, then the hero wins in the sequel.

I know someone gonna mention something about the last X-men movie but thats not what Im saying here. BTW the best part of the movie IMO was the first scene with all those ancient mutants .. they seemed like fatalities from MK lol

I love your channel but I respectfully disagree with you on this one. This movie is a D- at best. No fun, totally dry and boring and messy, and the parts that should be fun are ruined because they put them in spots where it's totally wrong for the tone. This movie is not only a disappointment, I'd actually say it's full-on bad.

I thought of Apocalypse's motivations as like the story of Noah from the bible. he saw in the TV that humanity had moved away from following "the right gods" and followed blind leaders that weren't showing them the truth. He decided to destroy the world so he could remake it with mutants and "make it better" because he thought it was too late to fix humanity as it was. Maybe I'm thinking about it too much or I was watching the film too deeply but I thought I'd clarify at least a little.

I think Apocalypse's objective and motivation throughout the movie Is to get the mutants to join him and follow his lead but in order for him to do that he must show them why they should follow him So I think that's why he didn't just destroy the world straight away

There's really no explanation in the movies themselves so we can only guess that despite mystique saving him in the 1970's, Stryker eventually captures him before the events of the Apocalypse movie

I think the first 2 X-Men movies used tricks to make Cyclops look taller since Marsden was shorter than his costars yet his character needed to at least equal Wolverine's height. Odd Singer neglected to do the same tricks w/ Apocalypse.

Yeah I hear that a lot of people say that Apocalypse could've drop all of the bombs but what I think the reason was why he didn't do it was because he didn't want to kill any of the mutants since he didn't even try to kill mystique when he had her.

The quicksilver scene was a direct ripoff from Futurama where Fry drinks 100 cups of coffee, then gets so jittery that he moves super fast to rescue his friends from an exploding building. Complete with things looking slow motion from his perspective. Surprised people didn't catch that blatant plagerism

Apocalypse was a good guy in this movie. He disarmed the world of nuclear weapons, effectively preventing the cold war, missile crisis, and potential nuclear holocaust. Then he built himself a sweet pyramid while Magneto destroyed some buildings.

I have to say, I like this movie :) I agree with you John on most things, but this scene when Magneto's wife and doughter was killed was not very convincing for me. Accidents like that don't happen, and I think they rushed the action to gave him instant motivation to break bad. BTW Michael Fasbender really tried hard to speak polish :D

In John's final thoughts, he says that movie "stays true to its roots with Cyclops becoming the leader again".......it seemed to me more like Mystique was the new leader. Which is one of severals things that I didn't care for in the film.

I did hated so much to see Colossus dying twice in the X-days of future past When he never even died on the original script But this is only way to enjoy this FOX adaptations from Marvel You have to see them as thier own soft remake separate versions, that really has not much to do with the original content I did like apocalypse more than DOTFP at least it didn't let me feeling empty inside Anyway Michael Fassbender as MAGNETO will always be a great reason to care about this films He truly is MAGNETO

The whole thing comparing Ultron and Apocalypse, while they both do have the boring plan of "I want to destroy the world because why not!", at least Marvel tried being a bit creative with it and made that it was a misunderstanding in his programming compared to Apocalypse who just said "Ah fuck it, this world sucks and I want a new one."

And another thing with Angel, they completely fucked up his storyline. We clearly see him the age he is in Apocalypse in X-Men 3, if not younger in X-Men 3. This means that they decided that he should be born fucking 30-40 years earlier just because why not, they need another horseman.

It's funny how it seems like the Fox Quicksilver is just adapting Flash comics. Like that scene is taken quite directly from a similar scene in a Flash story. Atleast based on the comics I've read, the MCU Quicksilver is way more accurate. But it'll be interesting to see what they'll do in the Flash movie now.

He didn't want to use the nukes because that would kill mutants as well as humans. He wanted to kill everyone because he was betrayed by normal humans and wanted to give the earth to his children (the mutants). I really liked this movie even though it's not perfect. Tye Sheridan was really good in this and I went and watched a bunch of his other films.
