Unfortunately the ATC of XP11 has bugs in reading heights on mountainous areas asking to lower the altitude which puts the aircraft in a collision course with the mountains. One notable mistake is to be in an 2100 feet airport and the ATC does the clearence for takeoff asking you for climbing to 1000 feet.
good video but i figured out that the ATC is completely useless at altitude or if you have a mountain range ahead. It will just let you crash into the mountains and you cant request an altitude as far I'm concerned.
It still blows my mind that no one wants to make a better ATC and IFR clearances for X-plane. I don't know if this is a limitation with X-Plane itself or just people don't want to do it. There's certainly enough following and a community to make something better.
hey i have a question at min. 10 the control says "heading 150" why he isnt changing his heading? and later he also isnt chanceing his heading why ? im new on flight simulator sry
ATC was talking to the A.I with the call sign N02XP (the players plane is N172SP, located left of the Artificial Horizon), just some random A.I flying around with you so it doesn't feel like the world ended :D, you can turn the A.I planes off from the menu so you don't have hear them. looks like he left them on for the video.
Keith Bauer I really agree......P3d/FSX have way better ATC. Also, I hate how you can't have a different tail number. Fsx/p3d have that feature where you can change callsign and tail number.
Im confused because as soon as im in the air traffic control guides me to other airports than my flight plan . and if I force to fly to my destination they wont let me request a landing.
Great vid. Whoever guided that jet liner in over the top of you at the end, probably needs a new pair of glasses! :). I wondered, is the only way to interact with ATC, to file and follow a whole flight plan with them? I just want to take off, fly around some waypoints and land again. Maybe same place, maybe somewhere else. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like the immersion of dealing with ATC for take off and landing procedures. Badger
Hi. I’m new to X-Plane 11. All your tutorial videos are helpful. Thank you. However, I do have a question about using air traffic control. I followed this video to practice my first ever flight with X-Plane 11 version 11.35r1. After I requested taxi, the sim didn’t tell me to contact tower (the check in with controller button was grey out). And didn’t give me “cleared to take off” notice. So I ignored it, I took off and then the atc asked me to contact tower and heading direction. So the steps with this version is diff than yours now. Is this normal?
incretible that all complaint and critic of the ATC and attitude bugs that xplane 11 have is been over a year and they dont seem to have any intention to fix the bugs, that really sucks.
Hello! I have been watching your videos , great videos by the way making a flight plan and using the controller but every single time that I’m close to the airport that a have to land the controller tells me to go up an hedding another way and don’t let me land the plane can you help me with this , I’m new with x plain I don’t know nothing about flying but I really like it I hope you can help me thanks! .
Laminar was obviously more concerned with the pretty graphics. This shit forgot i even existed and there i was, flying over kphx (my planned dest.) at fl25000 like a dickhead.
I wish I could ask for step ups or downs to other ALTs. You do anything ATC doesn't like and it's so frustrating. Sometimes they get me stuck out in left field, trying to land. Turn 350 turn 320 turn 300 back to what heading I was at. Like, yoooo I dont need those 2 other vectors, push me up to the next one, eff it I'm coming in hot Tower, give me the # to call when I land.
How do you select a airport to land at if you do not have a flight plan? Is it impossible? I tune to the radio channels but they don't offer me anything.
You can dial any frequency you wish. You don't have to use Flight Plan for casual visual flying. Use acceptable altitudes and head in the direction of the airport and tune in the tower, as in real flight. You can use skyvector.com to get your magnetic directions and an idea of where you want to go. It also has all airport frequencies and runway diagrams. Just don't file a flight plan with them as they are for real pilots in real airplanes.
the problem is on so many airports the atc radio distance is so small you are less than 10 nm from the airport and you don't even have landing clearance so annoying...
Hi, i dont have the ATC. When i press enter it show´s me like a "chat" windows. The key is configured by default. Do you know what could be happening?? Thanks in advance.
Why did you use 10° flaps on takeof, using a decent trim setting would be easier. After watching one would be better of without ATC. Or there would be a way to put FSX ATC into X-PLANE.
If there are two side by side, it should say 04R (right) or 04L (left). If they are not side by side, then it would be 040 degrees on the compass or the reciprocal
oooh. i see. makes sense. thanks. today i spent 5 hours practising the IFR flight... but xplane ATC is so buggy. it kept repeating the same command over and over while i was taxiing. At what point after take off do you engage the AutoPilot to follow the heading you set while you were on the ground? Immediately after you leave the ground or like after you reach 500 feet? Thanks a lot. your vids are awesome.
Xplane's ATC is crap, I'm surprised he got it to work for this video. Autopilot should be engaged no lower than 500 ft AGL, but above that it is pilot's discretion.
FusionTrain ATC tries to regulate vertical and horizontal space between planes to avoid colision. So they may ask you to follow ecotic figures if the airspace is crowed.
When ATC say "altimeter 2935" they are giving you the area QNH to set your altimeter to, in this case 29.35 inches of mercury. QNH is basically air pressure at sea level. Below the flight levels all aircraft set their altimeters to the area QNH so they read accurately. When operating in the flight levels the altimeter is set to 29.92 "hg.
I use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. It's about $40 on Amazon. I am also trying to find (or possible write) a plugin o help change the various settings without using the knobs and switches. So far, there appears to be several plugins (PlaneCommander for example) that help with this.
The CH Products Eclipse Yoke would be perfect. However, it takes up a lot of desk space. If you prefer manual flying, then I would get a Yoke. However, if you would be doing more instrument flying using the autopilot, a simple joystick would be more than sufficient.
I have used the Saitek sometime ago and it worked well with the older version of X-Plane. However, from what I read, most people prefer the Eclipse Yoke better.
The most stupid system i believe on 11.30 version the have fix ATC but nothing. I try yesterday and on the landing say to me to landing on 25 RWY when i was ready to land 1-2 NM say to me go to 17RWY and then again when i go around change to 25 if one system is not working it's better to remove it and i don't use ATC any more.
That wasn't horrible. He landed safely. But he should have slowed first, then applied flaps in the white arc on the speed dial. It just shows that he isn't a pilot and doesn't fly real Cessna 172s. But he landed safely.
@@HowardandElaine Yea, I was gonna say he was full flaps before even entering the white arc lol, scary... Not to mention went from fairly above the glide slope to 4 red lights just before landing. Although, wouldn't you also expect the ATC to provide an altitude to descend to when making that turn for approach?
You were speeding way to much on that final approach. You even lowered the flaps outside the white arc of the flap operating range. I know it's a simulator but those decisions put you on risk of serious damage or a rough landing.
It wasn't really a learn to fly video. Flying by heading bug and autopilot doesn't teach any skills at all. Same with filing a flight plan and flying IFR, one of the most advanced parts of flying and certainly an optional skill for the private pilot. You can fly to Oshawa from Toronto Island with VFR, visual flight rules and normally talk to towers at both airports for takeoff and landing. No flight plan needed and no IFR. But thanks Jason for showing how ATC works. Oh, and a reminder, if you don't mind me saying so,... don't lower flaps until in the white arc speed range. Hold altitude while throttling back to lose speed before lowering flaps.
*sigh make your own 'perfect' video before critiquing this one, your comment doesn't even qualify as 'constructive criticism'. It's obnoxious and makes you sound like a know-it-all. " Oh, and a reminder, if you don't mind me saying so" We all mind. keep it to yourself mr. Einstein.
The ATC from the x-plane 9.70 is a lot better than this one I am looking at getting vatsim to elliminate this useless ATC got plenty of time on it and i now fly without ATC I am using the moving mapinsread
@@tonycheng6478 I sure hope so I am using the P2Atc it is good but same thing it is x pensive and it do not work perfectly so to my on view ATC.9.70 was working fine ex if you would declare an emergency ATC would direct you to closer air strip or air port. Let's hope for the best.
Lol that default female voice is so annoying to me. It's her intonation ro something .. inflection. Somehow someway my X-Plane 11 ATC window disappeared. I think maybe installing pilotedge plugin did it by binding to the enter key the "show atc" or whatever macro it is. Thanks. Btw PilotEdge gives you a free like 14 day or so trial as far as I can tell, ... I gave em a credit cardnot linked to any actual funding though to hold which they require. They have FAA-certified controllers over the whole Western half of the USA basically you can use in real time. Of course they're not always on or covering every air space or tower or tracon and so on but its pretty good from what I can tell. Ill never go back to FSX.... X-Plane is too much like the real thing in terms of flying. I just issue myself ATC commands if I'm on the East Coast or elsewhere.. lol. It works for me.
