If I need a TV box I'd go straight to the Chromecast with Google TV. I would buy this for Emuelec though.

I have a vontar hk1 with similar specs. With EmuElec, a fantastic retrogaming box. A lot better then a rpi3 which used to cost the same price Offers a lot for the money.

What gamepad can i use? Does it need something special to do for pairing? I tried ds3 with Sixaxis Controller app and i couldnt. After that the x96 max plus bluetooth started keep collapsing and i had to hard reset it.

Would you consider doing a saturn emulation video for emuelec please? I bet there are quite a few people who have bought super console x pros or other amlogic tv boxes who want to play saturn. I got all the bios files needed to play but only one or two games actually load. I don't know if it's the emulator (yaba sanshiro) or the ROMs I'm using. My guess is that it's the emulator because my ROMs all work on my pc using beetle saturn. Also why is saturn the only emulator I've had to mess around getting bios files to get it working literally every other emulator on emuelec has played every rom I've thrown at them without needing extra bios files.

I own one of these. It throttles at 72 C, so performance suffers. My solution is to open it up and put a big ass heatsink (passive cooling is enough). I had to put it upside down though. My gripe about this is I can't purchase stuff on asphalt 8 (transaction always failed)

It's running a S905X2 so technically more power than the Super console X, but I wouldn't personally bother with anything less than the S905X3. Actually, I got a S922X box just about a hundred bucks on amazon for some extra umf.

I actually ordered one some time ago but my order was cancelled at seller end. Got a refund and went the Lenovo Tiny PC route instead and never looked back. Course there is a price difference. But for the cheaper price of this android box theyre defo a viable option for some retro gaming.

Hey Wicked... Little advice, if you want to update Netflix, i suggest you to install 3rd AppStore, like ApkPure or Apptoid TV. A few months ago I bought android tv box, wich is not possible to update Netflix in regular way, but only from appstores like i mentioned. Of course you should allow to install from that apps (Apptoid or ApkPure). It will works, i guarantee

I wonder why you didn't install Emuelec to an sd card, or even put one from super console x? If the chipset is from same gen, it Emuelec is the best option imo. Super console x is literally an underpowered Android TV box with a fancy shell on it at the end.

Should have opened it up so we could have seen the heatsink. I bought an x88 pro mini 4g/32g which has the s905x3 and it thermal throttles to hell and back, and the reason is a very tiny heatsink. The issue is that they glued the heatsink to the SOC and can't be removed without damaging the SOC or I'd replace it. But a little bit of air movement over the small heatsink will drastically lower the temps. I did find a small blower fan that could easily fit into the case 15mm by 15mm by 3mm but I didn't buy it because it's $25, I guess I have no choice but to cut the case and put a larger fan on it. they could have put a much larger heatsink in the device and gave it a few vent holes to drastically reduce thermals, the heatsink is so tiny even with the board out of the box the SOC temps will easily reach 75c and higher when being stressed, and it kills performance due to thermal throttling.
