Yakuza is the only series I know of where it's the same location but it's constantly evolving from game to game. The feeling of familiarity but yet different

Wow it’s amazing how yakuza 0 (a game made in the year 1988) has amazing graphics and yakuza 2 a game made in 2006 also has such great graphics

The thing about kiwami 2 I love the most is how reactive the environment is towards your actions. You throw an enemy towards a sign board, the sign board breaks apart. You bump yourself with a bicycle in a bicycle stand, and all the bicycles starts to tumble and fall. You hit the enemy soo hard that he flies away and hits a glass window, and the whole window just shatters. Not to mention, how those tables and chairs break during combat. I've honestly never played a game with such a reactive open world environment/physics, except for maybe Kingdom Come Deliverance.

That Dragon Engine is serious but that old engine holds up well against it in my opinion. The Dragon Engine makes everything look real.

Kiwami 2 is amazing. Then you play 5 and realize about all the map inconsistencies Kiwami 2 actually had (Ashitaba park, for instance). Still a great game, though.

I only recently discovered yakuza because PS has them for free. I decided to start with 0, then kiwami 1 & 2. I almost skipped over 3,4 & 5 because i got stunned with those graphics and game play, like I got hit in the head with a baseball bat. But I pushed forward and eventually didn't notice the difference anymore. Glad I did. But getting through 3 was like a culture shock to the senses. Like, damn. What year is it?😂
