I was looking for possibility, connecting my Tomtom. No USB connection, only cables. I will tap the power behind the socket. Finally I know how to get there! Thank you mate👍🏻
Again, I have done this mod with a USB / voltage monitor socket. I much prefer the clean look and feel rather than an adapter plugged in to the original socket. No chance of it coming loose unlike the adapter.
pat dodds , thanks for your positive reply. Your right , you could but everything I use ( phone, Go Pro etc ) use usb to charge.. plus I’ve had a few requests to do this.
Did you ever have any problems with the USB after you installed it? I bought one and I want to install it but my friend said it might not be reliable and that I should just use a USB Plug instead. Please let me know. Thank you, Ernest
Konrad, cheers for your reply mate, Well be sure to hit that subscribe button and my videos will walk you thru any mods u wish to do . If you dont see a video for it , shoot me a message and i will see what i can do .
Great video Richie. I have done the same as this on my last few bikes, as I have found that standard cigarette adapter plugs vibrate out of the socket on motorcycles.
Did you notice any lose of heat on the heated grips after installing the usb ? On my xsr700 (mt07) after installing the usb and oem grip heater on the 12V socket I noticed that it wasn't as warm as before
Dadoo, Cheers for watching and your reply. Personally ,No i haven't noticed much if any heat drop from the heated grips since installing the USB outlet. perhaps check out my heated grips video and change the output of your grips. Just check how they are connected to your bike first , my grips are directly connected to battery and run their own inline fuse.
Richies Bikes thanks for the reply. Totally understand and just wanted to make sure. It does look great and just clean. Keep up the good work on the videos.
Stephen , thanks for your question. I purchased this one off eBay, However have since replaced it with one with a LCD screen with voltage reading in it.
