Yes - It is a lovely "triditional" look and great to see the "two tone" style in the RN-1000a

Nicely done, as usual. I like the way Yamaha still includes two tape loops on their more affordable amps and receivers Although as they go up in price the tape outputs suddenly disappear (i.e. the R-N800A), as is so with most brands of amps these days.

Tapes had their hay-day in the 80's and they are essentually a dead format. I don't expect to see Tape Loops on any new amp now-a-days

Thanks for the reply. I do miss watching those spinning cassettes or reel to reels. Tape or line outs are useful for many other purposes than recording. For example, I use both sets of line outs on my NAD preamp. One feeds a Sennheiser wireless headphone system, and the other feeds an AR wireless speaker transmitter that sends signal to several powered wireless speakers. I imagine it may be difficult or too costly to convert a digital input to an analog signal for a record/line out, and perhaps that is why manufacturers no longer include them. Technics' SU-G700M2 Grand Class integrated amp includes a line out, but for an analog source only.

Tape loops were also good for connecting graphic EQs, which is what I used to connect to them on stereo receivers in the past. It has nothing to do with "tapes" today, per se, but these "tape" inputs on integrated amps and receivers can be used to connect more modern recording gear like CD recorders (which is what I have connected to the tape jacks of my Onkyo). I wish modern two channel pieces still came with tape monitor loops because EQs really brightened up the sound of a system; music just doesn't sound the same without one IMO. Adjusting bass and treble knobs aren't the same thing. I also miss having a loudness button, even though Yamahas still offer this via a variable knob; all two channel pieces should come with a loudness switch. All of that being said....Yamaha's affordable two channel receivers come with tape 2 connections? That's news to me.....

@@user-kv3ue5fp4c Several of Yamaha's integrated amps, the A-S301, A-S501, A-S701 and A-S801, all have two tape/line out loops.

The R-N303 is very entry level. The RN-600a is better. BUT please consider the R-N800a (it is way better again)

Could you connect a separate graphic equalizer to the tape in & out, would this work?
@TLPCHC
@TLPCHC 8 месяцев назад
Why? It has basic Bass & Treb control via the MusicCast App. Any greater need for control implies you need to review the quality of your speakers
@user-kv3ue5fp4c
@user-kv3ue5fp4c 5 месяцев назад
@@TLPCHCYou didn't, respectfully, answer his question - he asked if an EQ COULD be connected through the tape inputs/outputs. Bass and treble knobs aren't the same thing as tweaking bands of an EQ. To answer the question, regular tape in/out jacks CAN'T be used to connect an equalizer - I wanted to add one to my Onkyo TX-8555, but couldn't because it doesn't have tape 2/monitor hookup. You need that tape monitor to make this work. Of course, you CAN connect an EQ between, say, a CD player and the amp, but then only THAT source will be equalized, not the whole system. To me, that's not a viable solution; I'd want every source connected to the amp to be EQ'd

How do you change radio stations on the internet selection (I'm connected direct to my Cable Box by ethernet cable) I get one channel only but not sure how to go up and down the range?

@@TLPCHC Thanks for your reply, but the R-N600A is capable of Internet Radio and this was my question, do I connect the Ethernet Cable from the Amp to the Cable Modem Box? (Both accept Ethernet connections) Many thanks in advance. Yamaha fanatic in Scotland.

@@Colin.T. Once connected to the internet, any MusicCast streamer (or streaming amp) will stream internet radio. Please ensure the firmware is up to date and you are selecting "NetRadio" within the MusicCast app.

Can I connect 3 pair of speakers (Yamaha NS-IC400) to this receiver? I have 6 speakers installed in my living room and kitchen and I'm looking for a receiver. Would this work for me?

This is an entry level receiver with low power - so No. Consider a much bigger receiver, or buying two RN-600a's. These will "link" within the MusicCast app
