For people not familiar with the notation: Not in his notation but it starts off with a j.H (Jumping heavy). L, L, M, qcf+L , M, H, dash, L, L, j, L, j.c.M, L, M, qcb+M, qcf+Special+M L = Light M = Medium H = Heavy j = Jump j.c = Jump cancel (hold up as your punch lands) qcb = Quarter circle back qcf = Quarter circle forward
It's such a damn shame toriyama assassinated this character during the trunks saga and Toei isn't helping much either and on top of that, team Fourstar fanboys. The makers of this game made Yamcha the wolverine of fighterz and I'm very happy about that.
Im a tfs fanboy and I'll make fun of him all day but in og Dragonball the dude showed off some serious skill. Lile you said unfortunate the way he was done in the show
TFS's just a parody of the official material, and we've all seen how the official material has treated him since early DBZ, long before the trunks arc, so don't blame them. The Super situation is pitiful, though. They've been giving EVERYONE a time to shine but Yamcha has become a dumb meme. At least he still exists though, RIP Launch and Chiaotzu.
The Truth Oh look another fucking idiot, because someone likes Tfs, they are not a dbz fan, also he didn't even say that Yamcha was the only useless one. This is for both of your damn comments about Izzy and Hip.
Ty for the Yamcha combo's and strat's did not expect to become a Yamcha player but man hes too good to pass up in this game! Even his assist is amazing for team combo's!
Thanks for the vid man. I gravitated towards Yamcha right away. It was useful for me to see how you were timing your assists too to open the opponent up for more satisfying Yamcha destruction!
Blackguy338, Real talk. I decided to main him when I saw his trailer. When I was in the middle of doing his combo challenge, I had to get up and leave for a minute cause dude was so raw, lol. Yamcha is sick. Gonna do what I can to get really good and stylish with him.
Im playing Yamcha as my main and I love the character! is super fast, great moves and the Wolf super is great! btw maaaan that was brutal you destroyed the other guy in that corner !
yamcha is indeed good i had a lot of trouble fighting him online but did find a few tricks against his mixups for example instead of guessing or mashing in middle of his wolf fang special you can just jump avoiding all out comes
Yamcha the only character I never ever gonna let go on my team. Playing with him since the game comes out and I came here to sharp some of his combos thanks
IMPORTANT: Wolf Fang Fist can also be cancelled with a backstep by holding back and pressing the Special Attack button. Also, you can add a cross-up by pressing the Special Attack button anytime between the three different phases of Wolf Fang Fist. This second cross-up will allow you to preform ANY other attack, such as another Wolf Fang Fist
Beam assists likr from Goku/Black, Tenshinhan, etc can make for some HELLA confusing mixups. Call beam assist during your wolf fang fist and then cross up, backstep, or just continue pressure. Medium wolf fang fist+beam assist is even more fun. Confuse the fuck outta them with that teleporting wolf fang fist and the cross up. Call the beam early or delay it a little and then cross them up. Or just don't cross them up at all. Experiment with this. It's amazing.
jmcrofts Can you pleeease do more of these character-specific videos? I enjoyed this so much. Still quite new to the game and for me it feels like all characters have more or less the same combos (looking at that jump cancel a,b airial combos)... I would like to know the pros and cons of each character and in my opinion you did a beautiful job of showing Yamchas mix-up capabilities!
What do you think about instant wolf fang flash, immediately cancelling into flash from the opener? It can hit from full screen and considering the speed I would think it's not easy to react to. Just not the easiest thing to pull off consistently.
Yeah, yamcha is owkey beast. Everyone is filling their teams with super saiyans, but overlooking such a solid character. WFF is awesome for getting in, and the aerial one is great for setting up supers because M or H version is a hard knockdown. He's really fun.
Dang this is a super helpful video! Hearing about the strategy / gameplan is really informative for new fighting game players like me. Are you planning on doing more with other characters?
If you have someone who has a beam assist (Like Goku or Goku Black) and use their assist after the s.L, s.L, s.M string (But before you do L or M Wolf Fang Fist) then it becomes uninterruptable (You can time it to make it a true blockstring too) regardless of what side you pick
Idk how much experience you gave in the game but do Gotenks, or if you can do this video for like every character? Thanks btw, learning a lot watching your vids
To add to this video, I found Yamcha to be a good anchor, not a point. He NEEDS meter to get any kind of decent damage. Using him as a point is a bad idea because he has no meter and when he gets it, he's going to use it immediately so the other characters don't get any of it. He also has an amazing assist, and if you use him as a point you aren't taking advantage of that. Just so you know, I'm talking about team order. Point is the first character, mid is the second, anchor is the third.
Hey, im new to these kinds of fighters and im having problems with setting up combos and when to swing for one. Basically im not sure how to approach or how I should go ahead with starting things in a neutral phase. An example is how to approach with ssgss goku in order to get a hit with his short range on his light attack. I would greatly appreciate any kind of help!
Subbed off of the strenght of these DbFz vids... will you do a tier list? Obviously it will be your opinion but i think hit yamcha and goku black are top tier
Dude you are so freaking good at this fighting games and the way you explain everything its so clear, thanks to you I was able to rank super sayayin and I am going for ssj2 rank and btw I like the way you write the combos cuz it is standard and not specific for any console, kit up the good work and if you have an xbox one hit me up my user is holloxnder
There's also that half of his moves are frame traps, 5L>5M, 5M>5H, 236L>(M), as well as the ability to retreat from blocked rekkas with 236L>(4S) or even more crossup with 236L>(S)>etc
For my team, I have yamcha and Gohan so far. For my third pick im thinking of Tien. But would he have a good link up with adult Gohan and yamcha? And overall would that be a good team? Im pretty much trying to find a good team for yamcha.
Nice video on Yamcha, it feels much easier for me at least to input qcf and qcb in this game compared to Tekken 7 which is weird, also what platform are u playing on?
ST33ZY In Tekken 7 there is very little input leniency on attack motions, and often in Tekken a qcf motion is actually used to perform a crouch dash which you can do the move out of at any time by simply pushing the button.
People who do more fighting games using letters like a, b, c, d for their light, medium, heavy, special. Its easier for them to understand. As long as you can understand what he means you have nothing to complain about.
Except that's not actually true. The only games that use ABC notation are mostly Blazblue and doujin-style anime fighters. LMHS is the standard for MvC3, the game that DBFZ is most similar to, and is actually more practical since using A for light attack can confuse people since A usually stands for Assist. LMHS is already the most common notation for DBFZ, and calling it ABCD is just weird when the game itself NEVER refers to those buttons as such, not to mention how bad it is if you're starting out on an Xbox pad. Being unable to understand isn't the only thing to complain about here. It's just a worse notation that's harder to read.
I am still totally confused by the ABCD stuff and I've been playing fighting games for ages. I wayyy prefer LMHS. Hell, give me "jab", "strong", "fierce" over ABCD. What I do right now is copy paste the combo and change the buttons names to read it, so I don't mess it up. I get it that players of their other games (blazblue, guiltygear) are used to this button names, but from the additively biased view of someone coming from other games (like street fighter), I would at the very least ask for a second line? Pretty please? Just write both? D:
Another vote for LMHS notation. I understand the reasoning for ABCD for a subset of experienced players, but LMHS is almost universally understood and doesn't require "translating." L - Light, M - Medium, H - Heavy and S - Special is instantly understood just by the letters involved. Having to translate A into Light, C into Heavy, etc., is an unnecessary extra step, even if it's a relatively simple one.
Can someone type this out in Xbox controllers :p -> 5a 5a 5b 236a, b, c dash 5a 5a j j.a j.b dj j.a j.b j.214b 236a+b - also i'd love to see some defence/counter vids !
Since he doesn't have an air smash extender, would it be wiser to use his 2H on the ground instead to launch your combos, and just save the WFF and the meter required for the juggle for block pressure/resets? Just a thought, since I haven't been able to put much of any time in this game yet to know much.
I kinda want to try using a fight stick, it looks like you'd have more input control. Been using the pad and make loads of mistakes like accidentally jumping....
I have noticed after doing this combo repeated times that if right after you do your heavy of you quarter circle forward and dash to do your light, light if you do light into a medium them into the jumping cbo you get about 140 extra DMG. I found it cool but choose to not use it if you don't want to, thought I would let you all know
I'm enjoying Yamcha and have gotten pretty good with him but am having trouble with a solid team. I'm running him with 16 who is Solid just looking for a Third, I'm thinking a saiyan or someone with an air super any suggestions?
Or vegeta blue. if you use his kick special then vanish you can use his command grab to bring him back to the ground. Then you can dump meter into your opponent
I want to say to you something Jmcrofts, you can actually follow up le divekick of Yamcha into wolfang fist, it combos on hit ! it's looking like a cancel, and you cannot combo into jabs for example. ( sorry my english is bad )
I dont know if someone already found this. Found out for yamcha if you land a standing medium or down medium, a down heavy is confirmed With this you can get a good amount of damage in the air without using bar with L M j.c. L M qcbM
Combo scaling in this game is really annoying, if instead of you doing j.a j.b dj j.a j.b (which is what everyone does for basic combos universally) I think its more damage to just do j.b dj j.b which just frustrates me, because then the combo's look more boring but give you more damage (at the cost of a tiny bit less of meter gain, which isn't even worth it for the extra damage you get) On some character the difference from doing a combo with nothing but Medium attacks and no Light attacks is actually a lot, for some its like 100 damage, but for others its like 500 its crazy I'll have to do some more testing but nice to see a Yamcha player
Scales your combo a bunch if you start with a Light. But yeah with Yamcha you can literally just do cr. B, B, J.B, DJ.B, QCB.B, OTG Super (Spirit Ball or Neo WFF) and does off the top of my head around 4000+? But the hard part is doing it online where opponents can predict your gonna go for lows or can just hit you with a faster attack then your cr. B.
I don't know if someone can help me but I can get the combo done, but the super dosn't add to the combo. It just stops at 30 and then does 6 combo with the super. Edit: I just once achieve doing the 36 combo alltogether, maybe my timing it's awful. When I rush it I do a Dragon Rush instead of the super.
Numbers are the position of your controller (5 is neutral/ no direction, 1 is down and back, 6 is forward, etc.) and j is a jump attack (j.a is aerial light and/or to jump cancel into an attack)
I can't for the life of me get the dash in time. I don't know what to do. I get the jumping heavy then 5L,5L,5M,236L,L,H and then I fail dash, or it comes late. Any advice?
jmcrofts thanks, that was it. I'm now getting it maybe 50/50. But now after the first jab or two I cannot jump cancel into the next punch. I'm doing 5L,5L,9L but Yamcha never jumps, I'm a doing something wrong?
If I understood correctly you said you can finish with spirit ball or lvl3 super? For me atleast it seems the lvl3 isn't fast enough to hit before their hard landing ends, but spirit ball is. Can anyone confirm they can hit a lvl3 at the end? Or did you mean lvl3 after the spirit ball? EDIT: Been trying to follow up the spirit ball with lvl3 aswell and hitting them on the fall doesn't seem possible. Delaying a bit and hitting them on the recovery is, but hitting the fall would be reliable. Could be that I'm just too slow on the supers, but to me it seems both after the combo and after spirit ball the target is too far away for a lvl3 to hit them on the fall.
You're right! I actually managed it a few times last night and starting to get a hang of it today! :D Feels so good to pull it off, this is my first fighting game and I'm only 20 hours in so your videos are a great help. Keep it up man, sorry I doubted you ^^
