I develop stick method as my favorite weapon is the 3 foot stick of hardwood. I also practice 5 foot staff and double daggers. I am crippled in assisted living and I am able to practice about 5 minutes a day. I told the owner my weapons were for meditation and so I am allowed to have them. Love, Mike.

✋🤛 good luck with your training, good to hear you don't give up. As my sifu tells us, 5 minutes a day is long enough to keep the fire burning.

their execution of the sword shape is more elegant than mine. if they would see me would you think i'm a beginner but I try acrobatics to get out of the game. But I also see where I still have to change things. Thanks very much. I had to write the hearing with the help of google. my English is much worse than my tai chi .. best regards from Hamburg

Acrobatics are great when young if you can do them, and the goal of modrn wushu is an Olympic sport with objective, technical judging, like gymnastics. But the real sword art is all about controlling the opponent's blade to strike cleanly with no possibility of reply. This is much more difficult to master, and why there is so much emphasis on sticky fencing. In real wudang, the student is expected to have basic mastery of sticky fencing before beginning sparring, so that they will have the ability to "defend their body with the sword." This is because protective gear was not used in Chinese sword sparring, and, looking at the protective gear movement, it's clear that it only promotes suicidal strategy. 🙏

Very precise movements with excellent control. I'm still getting to grips with the 32 sword form, but I can learn something from watching this superb performance. Does anyone know where this was filmed? The arched gateway looks very familiar. It's a beautifully serene courtyard to practise forms.

Professor Huo Chi-Kwang taught a tai chi sword form similar to this one. One of the differences was the hop had more of a forward momentum, seeming as though he was gliding through the air.

There are many variations. My own teacher was most concerned with "closing the openings" that occur throughout the form, b/c something you'll notice with most tai sword practitioners is they leave the body wide open at many points throughout the form. It useful to look at traditional wudang sword for this reason, and think about how those principles can be integrated into tai chi sword.

in my modest opinion, the direction of this film is not well thought out, at least as regards the vision of the form as a whole. it would be better a fixed shot; at most a couple.

Normally I would agree, but this is not a training video, it's an exhibition.
