Island Hooking. I have a Predator xl mk. I had for about 1 yr only small papios and stuff I caught so far when I catch something nice ill post it on my channel. k bro have a nice week.
I have found that none of the crystal minnows really cast well at all. Not meant for that. You either go for short/medium on calmer days or use them for trolling(which is where they excel) One I would highly recommend is the Mag Minnow, if you want to go a bit on the lighter side(1oz) The action is really good, casts a mile, good color options and the best of all, it catches. Brought in a good many Omilu and couple small gt ulua with them. There is also the new HydroMinnow LC that have a weight transfer also. Haven't tried one of those yet.
I'm new to these lures. I am in Guam and we are used to just large float and squid lure on long leader.. kinda worried about throwing out a 15 dollar lure... interested to try though.. Thanks bradda
aloha island hooking!, love all your videos !, just giving a tip from what i learned from fishermen in da mainland, use a shorter leader 3ft to 4ft.. i find dat 3ft is better to use 100% fluorocarbon leader line and braided mainline ,the mainline must be 2x to 3x heavier than the lbs of the braided mainline it help give balance and stability for the yo zuri crystal 3d minnow. example 20lb braided mainline with 45lb 100% fluorocarbon leader line.
You are absolutely on point. I have a few Crystal 3D Minnows too and before I took it out on the water, I had expected it to cast well because of the claimed weight. But, it was somewhat disappointing to say the least. A lure at this price point should have weight transfer and I was shocked that it didn't have it. Surprisingly, its sister brand, Duel Hardcore do have weight transfer on a few of their lures. Like you, I had such high hopes too given the finishing of the Yo-zuri lures are of such high quality.
But, you are absolutely right. The Yo-zuri level of finishing might be second to none, but without weight transfer I will not be touching them again neither. Looks like they know what the problem is with the launch of the Hydro Minnow LC. Is a start at least.
mag darter ive caught 20lb to 30lb ahis on em also caught mahi mahis too, darters go a little deeper than da minnows i like the darters better but ive been fishing with yo zuri crystal 3d minnows for years.
What lure would you recommend for me? I live in the West Coast and the local fisherman use surface iron to tackle yellowtail. I want to use something else and think outside and get your opinion what to use. One thing I might add is I won't be casting from the shore or surf casting strictly offshore from boat.
Hey Mathew good question. I wish I had the answer to your question but I don't know. It's right now not my specialty. But I'm sure there are a lot of other fishermen out there that could help. Sorry wish I could have helped.
Damn what do you do for a living? How do you have such money to support buying new lure each week? By the way, I have mag darter the short version, I had a lot of luck with the older version. What is so special about the new one?
Just used the 3d minnow and caught a 8lbs omilu on the inside while retrieving it and missed 2 small papio in about 3hrs time. Just done eating omilu poke
