I'm really surprised that you only mention lifelink once, seeing as once transformed, giving it lifelink basically doubles your life total twice with each attack, since it's power is equal to your life total.

@@riverseaman81 Creatures is the easiest thing to remove in mtg compared to enchantments,lands,artifacts or plane walkers . Doubling your life total and can’t lose is a good way to remove threats before they get an answer for indestructible angel

The last line of the effect makes it susceptible to instant speed removal. Let's say you go to 0 life and the effect triggers, then someone uses instant speed removal to kill the angel. At this point the effect is on the stack so even though the angel is killed and the transformation doesn't go through, you'd still be protected from a game loss. So that's where the last line comes in, as it makes you lose the game when the angel is killed while the effect is on the stack.

@@joshholmes1372 Yes, however this also gives me the oppertunity to reanimate it with wake the dead for example. By destroying it while it's effect is on the stack you prevent any further meddling.

This does not work. You can't respond to replacement effects. If they kill it then the card is either already transformed, or you haven't taken the damage yet that would reduce you to zero. Once you do take damage, that damage itself sets you to 3 and transforms this card. It's not an effect, simply a rule change for how the damage would apply.

If I am reading the text correctly the lose the game part only activates if the ability triggers. So basically people can kill the angel or prevent it from transforming to kill you but, if there are other ways to transform it or make copies those should work.

There's a day/night mechanic in this new set, when certain cards hit the board, they instigate permanents flipping between their day/night sides depending on what happens in the turn. if this card was flipped because of that instead.... yeah... you lose.

I could be wrong but the way the text is worded makes me think it only makes you lose if the ability triggers. So if it does work that way... They should have worded it better.

The “you lose the game” trigger only goes off when the “zero or less life” trigger attempts to transform it, not when it transforms in general. The wording is specifically there so you can’t cheat by making a token copy or clone and never run out of life

Got to play Enduring Angel today. Was pretty sweet, saved me from a very aggressive vampire deck. They got to zero, flipped the card over. At 3 life, gained 2, attacked to gain 5. A lifelink card saved me from zero. Got some creature back from the graveyard, swing in for lethal

Trying to figure out how this card interacts with other cards that make you lose the game irrespective of your life total. Like "Chance for Glory," which says "Creatures you control gain indestructible. Take an extra turn after this one. At the beginning of that turn’s end step, you lose the game." The angel doesn't seem to protect you from losing this way, or if an opponent successfully completes Approach of the Second Sun, etc.

The "you lose the game" clause is for if you have multiples on the field. The trigger is a replacement effect, so if one resolves, the other won't, because there's nothing to replace anymore and you'll just straight up lose instead. But in singleton format, it doesn't matter.

just don't forget you can't lose/blink the angel while the gamelose-protection ability is on the stack. Then the ability would not be able to find (hence transform) the Angel resulting in a gamelose.

You can't respond to the effect anyways. It's a replacement effect, not a trigger. It's happening instead of your life hitting zero. Think of it as the rules of the game changed and you're simply following the new rule. Just like you can't respond to lab man winning the game effect, it happens instead of the draw so you have to stop the thing that would trigger the rule replacement. You can't respond to the rule replacement itself.

That part of the ability allows a player to use removal on the angel while its ability is on the stack, and have them lose the game. "Not transforming this way" can be caused by not being on the battlefield. Moreover, even if the angel does transform because of other means, it does not cause the player to lose, because it's in a "then" clause connected to dropping to 0 life. So there you go!

You can't respond to the replacement effect. Either they haven't taken the damage yet, or they have and that damage resolved as them hitting 3 life and transforming instead.

play the artifact that let's you play creatures with flash, let them swing for lethal... play enduring angel transform it then play the angel that brings you up to 20 throw heatproof equipment enchantment or aura on it boom. then play overpowered white life gain spells and just troll them. build up to a 45/45 then throw trample on it and don't attack for 7 turns to play with your food. you can also stack it with the angel that mills 2 cards for all damage you take and the card that deals 1 damage for each milled card and since you have hexproof and so does enduring angel you litteraly cannot lose. make the game go until they run out of cards without even attacking to piss them off

I think because it says the word "then" it means that the you lose the game trigger only happens if the card tries to flip and fails, meaning there will probably be cards in this set that prevent your opponent from flipping cards, which is why that text is there.

Theres an enchantment creature Nykthos Paragon card I have that places X amount of 1/1 counters on all creatures you control where X is the first time you gain life this turn. Like gaining that much life that fast would be insane

Oh no no not the first time, one time that you choose. Its a may ability and you can save it for when you know you'll make the most life in one trigger. Add sunbond and light of promise, ajani's pride mate etc. It. Could. Get. Dumb.

If you gave the front side every creature type (think Shields of the Velis Vel) you could transform it with Waxing Moon or Moonmist without the life condition. Turn 6 (without ramp) 15/15 that doubles your life total every time it attacks?

Making copies and protecting Platinum Angel is still the best way not to lose imo. Don't run into infect decks anymore but Platinum Angel so far the only thing that has protected me from not losing at 21 commander damage. I been wanting to make EDH that instead of having a win con it has a no lose con, essentially being the win con lol. WHY WON'T YOU DIE!? And for sure this Enduring Angel would go into it.

This card in a Trostani deck with Aetherflux reservoir would be nuts. Get to 50 life (easy with trostani), activate aetherlux reservoir, flip the angel, create tokens to get back up to 51 (again easy), go to combat, swing with the angel, win with 2 more activations of Aetherflux reservoir.

I was going to say if you use Brago... try skelleton key. Super budget and prevents creatures from blocking it because of skulk. Just saying.

Not quite. Plenty of flying chump and low power blockers. For the flip of this card, it offers very limited evasion, luckily it's effect is on attack and not combat damage. Good cheap equipment you can fetch though.

Edit: What significance do the day and night symbols have in the top left corner of the cards? ... it has a night side.... if you cast it and you are tracking day and night it might just come in as a 40/40 flyer for 5 mana.

If there is something like a CMC 1 day bound/nightbound, you could play it on turn 1 and wait for an opponent to play a tap-land turn 1, casting no spells, now it’s night. Oh boy.

Ixidor doesn't work on double faced cards it's wording attempts to place it face down sees it is still "face up" and fails

I think that lose the game condition basically mean your opponent can instant speed kill the creature in response to the trigger preventing it from transforming and causing you to lose anyway

The "trigger" can't be responded to. It's a replacement effect and happens in it's entirety instead of your life hitting zero. You and your opponent can respond to what's causing you to lose life or can wait for the life loss to happen, setting you at 3. Don't think of a replacer effect as a trigger, think of it as new rules for how something resolves. If it wasn't worded as a replacement effect then you'd be dead as it's triggered which would remove you and it's trigger from the game.

Another thing to mention is that this card's effect dies to burn spells, you go to 3 and then 1 lightning bolt later it didn't even matter.

If the lighning bolt is targeting you, it wouldnt work since the card gives You hexproof. You would have to hit the angel with the Bolt instead.

Have both of those singles out activate the 3/3 then ping yourself for 3 then exile that second angel, boom 40/40 angel that swings putting you at 80 life and so on

Question... So, you wouldn't lose if the board state becomes "night"? Cause now night would cause the night side transformations, i.e. without Angelic Enforcer's ability and you would lose the game, correct?

This card doesn't seem to transform between Day and Night, because it doesn't says Daybound or Nightbound on the Card.

This is just a card which can transform. The keywords daybound and nightbound don't appear on it, so it can only transform with its own effect.

I thought those cards are like cards with Ascend (City's Blessing) you only get it when a card has Daybound, but this would affect all cards with symbol (this wouldn't give you the Daybound when you play it, but still be affected)

This is one of the reasons why i love the commander format. While Infect is mostly a green thing at this point (if you have a card that does it) you can always win a game against someone having done 21 commander damage with a single commander. So whatever they're life is, they still have to worry about blocking your commander. I guess unless there's literally a Platinum Angel on field.

It won't the lose thr game clause is if it doesn't transform when you drop to zero. So you can't clone this card to have a never lose situation.

This card can transform with the day/night mechanic. If no one casts any spells, then next turn it would transform due to it becoming nightbound and you would lose.

I think its because of the daybound/nightbound mechanic so if you cast no spells it will force transformation to Angelic Enforcer. Thus, you lose the game.

Nope you don't lose the game because that clause only triggers when the angels own ability goes off not when it transforms by other means. That text is there in order to prevent you from making tokens of it, etc. Also the angel doesn't have day/nightbound so it doesn't transform from that mechanic to begin with

Here's the weakness to this. Instant speed creature removal. Angel's effect goes on the stack, destroy or exile the angel, it can't transform, game over. If someone tries to blink it in response, game over. Has to be protected with Hexproof or Shroud. Still loses to Cyclonic Rift and Rout/instant speed wipes.

Can't respond to the replacement effect. This effect becomes the resolution of the damage that would trigger it. So either the damage hasn't happened yet and you remove it, or it has happened and the person is at 3.

I am really not a fan of stuff like this. any "you win the game" or "you cant loose the game" type effect. Those type of meta effect feel like they belong in unhinged.
