Rolfnila comes in with such classic quotes as: "Have you ever experienced the almighty Three Sheep Beating?!" "They're the Horns of Discipline. DO YOU LIVE IN A CAVE!?" "The sky has many doors, Gran-boy."
GBVS has a very interesting character variety in part due to adapting pre-existing RPG characters, so you get an interesting mix of characters who recreate their roles(eg Seox who is counters and breakneck blitzing offense), characters who recreate specific keystones of their playstyle, good or bad(Soriz, Vira, Katalina), and then characters like Anila who are almost entirely based on aesthetics, none of Anila's normal GBF features are here, like she doesn't have All of Creation or the like, she just has Sheep, Sheep, BAMBOO GEYSER, Sheep, Spinny Stick, BUSTAH SHEEP but its still essentially Anila
In terms of visual variety, I'm guessing the IP itself gives the developers more to work with as a fighting game than say Dragonball where you mostly just animate different ways of shooting beams.
I am entertained by her basically being Terry and how that's also seemingly a faithful adaptation of her aesthetics. Looking at her art from the original game, she seems to be depicted performing a move that looks very much like Buster Wolf lol.
@@magicalgirl1296 Yup, both of her Supers are things she actually does do in GBF, but aside from that and her weapon itself her style is pretty much completely bereft of gameplay elements of her kits
Zeta's really rough to fight, even if you know what she's going to do there's still the timing element which makes it really rough. Her fireball is also pretty nutty. Though honestly most characters feel strong. Switching between Siegfried and Yuel is pretty funny though cause you go from "big sword fireball walk em down" to "where's my coke.... a cola", fun times
No matter how hyped I saw the first GBVS, I was turned off by the movement more than anything. But damn seeing just this minor speed increase and updated camera movement made this game feel so much better in the gamefeel department
Damn, i wish i was nearly good as you, i've been playing Anila since the game launched but i still suck it, i gotta remember to abuse more the foward medium into sheep dash after watching your video, thank you.
@@someoneusedtobeknown2645 Yea xD , yesterday i was playing and got a match with one djeeta that she was just jumping all the time, half her health bar was lost just to anti air
Finally, my favorite character. I just get so much satisfaction when the other characters are doing serious fantasy stuff and fighting with magic powers, and you just run them over with a sheep. But yeah gameplay wise she feels really solid. Great buttons to hit in neutral and a fireball.
Being able to choose your pool of random select makes me really want to be a random select main. I already tend to main half the cast so now I can just go “oi you, get your worst matchup, haha surprise now you’re fighting my best character! Fuck you!”
I've been super interested in playing Anila because.. sheep. And I've been practicing the corner combo you do where you end it with a safejump. But for some reason, for the life of me, I just can't consistently hit the 2H after the 236H. It almost always drops for me. Do you guys have any tips on how to improve the consistency?
having learned it myself its pretty tight and i end up mashing it more often or not. I think the timing of when you do the sheep fireball to setup the juggle matters a lot because too late the opponent might not be juggled high enough to fall into 2H correctly.
I love Anila, not for the 2 usual reasons, it's the sheep theme. It's way too cute. I so much want to play this game, unfortunately I really can't spend 75€ right now...I'm so goddamn sad...
Why would you feel bad about not being able to spend +70 euro on a game? Especially when it's late December at the moment, the time of sales and deals?
Wait, if she's some type of sheep, instead of "Buster Wolf" wouldn't her version be "Buster Sheepdog" or at least "Buster Cry Wolf"? Truly, this question needs Rolf's timeless widsom.
@@uglynerd9536 Yeah, I heard that one from the video around the forty(-two?) minute mark, and that's pretty good I suppose even if it does away with the canine bit completely.
Seeing someone actually do WELL with this character baffles me. I really wanted to use her, I really did...but her moveset makes no sense to me even knowing she's Terry! The short hop has too much start up and recovery, her air moves suck, her srk is useless, and a lot of her normals feel overly situational. I spent a good 3 hours with her and gave up. Didn't help that all I fought was Nier, Beelz, and Belial. War Criminals indeed! Switched to Narmaya and NOW the game is fun! These moves make a lot more sense and she has way better range. ... ...though I'm having more fun with Battle Mage...over here in DNF Duel...alone...
I wish they'd timed Battle Mage's release better. I'd like to be playing her in DNF, but Granblue coming out a few days before kind of stole her thunder, so I'll probably be waiting for the next character to drop to come back again (since it really needs the player base boost from DLC releases for me to find matches at all...).
