I'm an absolutely filthy casual - I have 32 Character decks from the original comic & YuGiOh R, in a KaibaCorp briefcase. Only reason I'm not picking up Legendary Decks 2 is because I got them back in 2016. But release another round of Legendary Decks featuring Malik, Rishid, Mai, and Isis, and you've found your Mark, Konami!

The crazy thing about the Madrat pokemon thing, it's TELLING people you buy out product and sell at it higher rates. I know a few of my locals have made deals with other locals and chain stores for product. I just happen to OVERHEAR it. They weren't posing in pictures and posting about it. They did in fact have bundles up for purchase on their store, then they took EVERYTHING down. And issues those statements Then the same lady in the picture with the buggies, posts about weighing packs. LMAO. Getting your customers to hate you speedrun 😂 Supposedly the guy, the owner is lawyer. I did look him up. Not sure how good of a lawyer he is. He may be book smart but not a lick of common sense. Grand opening, grand closing! Great podcast as always!!!!!!!

1. TCG using OCG box/pack structure (30 5 card packs) 2. TCG formatting text like OCG, using bullet points to help break up lines of text and make it easier to find effects. (Call out which effect you are using and your opponent can find that effect fairly quickly) 3. End the separation of OCG and TCG, let the two become one. Allow TCG to be involved in card production for their archetypes.

Nibiru and shifter IS tcg design, quess what? Shifter is the most hated card in ocg and we have it at 2, please you don't know what you're doing, people in tcg are complaining about gimmick ftk when it's clearly how IV the character that play it will play in modern yugioh, while we here rejoicing that gimmick puppet finally gets a playstyle that match their appearance, a puppet show where the pilot decides the game, not counting ariseheart etc. Ocg and tcg is already too far away from each other, merging it would be guaranteed destruction of one.

@@r3zaful when I said involved I meant allowing the TCG branch to work with OCG, they'd still have a small role in card development, but they'd still be able to produce. And guess what? Snake-Eye, Tearlament, Ishizu, Kashtira, and 90% of tier 0 decks were made by OCG, requiring several hits. Also, OCG has a better track record for making good cards and archetypes.

As someone who works at a card shop, I understand that opening boxes for singles is a thing you have to do to get singles at all. The difference is that you're not taking product out of the hands of other people, you're using your own product you get from distributors. Buying tons of product from other stores just makes you a scalper, and if you need to rely on that to make a profit, you don't deserve to be in business.

The legendary Dex 2 also was reaching almost $200 resale, so they did it to calm down the market as well. And as you said, because of the upcoming exodia products i think thats pretty clear. And you're right. It sounds like crazy every time I try to get one of my old friends vaccine to you go. They always want that product literally always.

1. That Konami will give better prizing, an actual reason to compete other than just prestige. For example - Full Art Special Promos. 2. That we get less expensive ways to compete. Currently the only way to compete at the highest level is to spend more on a deck than my Dad ever did on a car. Whether this is through things like Duel Devestator 2.0 with meta reprints, an overall change in rarity shifts to better reflect the OCG or a single viable competitive strategy from three structure decks out of the box. 3. The World Championship video game series to return, or a spiritual successor. We are both at an all time high and low with yugioh video games. Currently however I spend more time playing yugioh on games from a decade or more ago rather than the current master duel gameplay. There is something incredibly fulfilling about creating a deck, walking around a world and exploring it etc. The rush duel game for the switch was actually great! Except it got no updates in America, you can't delete decks, and no one is really online to play it with. More of that but... complete.

I got yugis legendary decks after building the exodia model kit because i realized I didnt have an Exodia card set, and it actually got me back into modern deck building! I dont plan to reach crazy heights, but Ive built a Kozmo deck so it was a great intro product for me

My wishes: 1: For the complete unification of the OCG and TCG. Put us all on the same release schedule, give all players worldwide everything at the same time, and give make the OCG's pack/rarity structure standard for the all regions. If you have to make a few changes to the cardpool(looking at you, Maxx "C") in order to make a unified format fair for everyone, then do it. 2: For the ban list to feature complex bans. Meaning, adjustments that allow players to only use certain cards if they are not being used in conjunction with other certain cards, ones enabled new interactions that broke otherwise innocuous cards. For example: "You may use 1 Jet Synchron in your main/side deck, but only if your main/extra/side decks do not contain any 'Sinful Spoils' or 'Snake-Eye' cards." 3: For all-hands-on-deck support for Time Wizard formats. Get more aggressive with reprinting format-defining cards. Host more major Time Wizard tournaments with prizing that is at least on par with that of normal modern events.

2) just doesn't really feel in the spirit of the game, and sounds like a nightmare to keep up with in non-digital format. If cards are problems because of a degenerate combo they enable they should just be banned.

Tcg players moan too much about deck being dominant when it isn't, ariseheart ban etc, people play kshatrira etc because they want to summon their boss monster. If you do this type of ban in ocg, ocg will die in less than 5 years. Please consider master rule 4 that slowed down the game took 70% local attendance in ocg, it's doesn't matter if the game is balanced if you can't play your archetype, tcg direct ban to archetype will just make people quit. Not to mention that tcg players tend to not spend that much, have you look at master duel revenue spending yet? Clearly that you guys don't spend money on master duel, it reflects reality in the physical card game as well, you guys simply don't spend as much as china or Japan.

As someone that hasn't played yugioh in 15 years probably I still watch this channel and I still have never built a metadeck/deck that works together. I have been considering building Live Twins because the art is nice and maybe cyber angels. I play digimon (at the local level), magic (not commander), and I have been a fan of pokemon starter decks recently (The world decks for this past year). I think Live Twin would be fun though and it would be a combo deck without going too far into the new age of yugioh.

The Reprint sets were really good for getting my non yugioh playing friends into the game. what initially started as a sealed house tournament with a box of metal raiders quickly evolved into a celebration retro ygo after the initial matches I broke out the 24 various other reprint packs from Lob, spell ruler, IOC etc. since they are dirt cheap online as well as some goat era boss monsters + support I picked up specifically for the event to super charge their decks.

This is why being a gamer/card game enjoyer and investor over 10-12+ and 20 years respectively is a perk. It’s like I can never lose. The dividend payouts from the likes of Activision, Sony, Konami in spite of yearly “outrage” is still as strong as it’s ever been.

Alex has clearly realised that introducing rotation is the key to achieving a reasonably powered format which can be inviting to new players, can be far more intuitive and watchable in feature matches and can bring back past players who have either quit because of the insane complexity or have fled to GOAT and Edison formats.

@@airbornejay4962 I’m not familiar with the Pokemon rule system. I heard they have rotation and I was thinking about Magic rotation so maybe Pokémon’s example would work for them too. You are right about the cool factor for sure. Yugioh has a cool factor that outclasses even Magic and I want to play Yugioh very much, it was my first card game. But it’s just not a good game in its current one turn, hand trap filled form. Konami are squandering their game for new players and especially young players by not reigning in the insane complexity with some form of rotation.

2:18:47 The problem with getting new players is entirely down to the power crept complexity of the game. People look at a Yugioh game and see an indecipherable play sequence unfolding between two decks that each cost about as much as two games consoles and then they see Digimon, One Piece, Magic and Pokemon with slower, more understandable play patterns and they come to the conclusion that Yugioh just isn't worth it. This is compounded by anime series' which might get people interested but they quickly realise the duels in these animes are not representative of the modern Yugioh they would have to play. Konami needs to make the flagship format which is played at YCS and all other competitive events a completely de-powered game, a game that feels like yugioh before 2012. Set rotation would keep the format at a low power level and also removing all extra deck types except Fusion and Synchros would help a lot too because new players see all the card types and get majorly overwhelmed, especially when each archetype tries to cheat the basic summoning rules with their effects in different ways.

Another thing that suck about the world situation is that many people can easily travel with the US for a free day but that many can just fly to another country to watch see worlds in person. Konami inadvertently had kinda made a scenario where if you had money you can just fly to Japan and watch live. Now it "oh it local this year we know of more affordable and alot of people potentially van attend but we don't care"

The legendary dragon decks was my first yugioh product. They're great starter product to learn the basic game and learn the different form of special summons. Great to use like a boardgame to introduce friends.

1.) I bought the legendary collection just because I got back into the game for the 25th and wanted some casual decks for friends and playable gods/exodia that the Egyptian sets for the 25th messed up being unplayable (not that they'll be seeing a ton of play regardless). The other friend I play irl with has the 2016 edition though lol 2.) I could understand if that shop owner purchased some of those packs to open or resell but buying 3 carts full and posting online about it was too much 3.) Also side note from a new listener, could you add episode numbers to the titles? I had trouble finding which episode I was listening to at home when I got into my car on Spotify. Love all your content, thank you!

1. Takahashi-sensei were still alive (he died too soon, even if he died saving someone, I wanted to see how he would do crossovers of the different series and make sense of the multiverse). 2. DVD box sets of the original Japanese versions of all the anime (at the moment, there is no legal way to watch Japanese VRAINS, SEVENS, and GO RUSH!!! for example, not to mention that digital content could disappear at anytime). 3. OCG reprints of old cards from the original Volume sets (like the normal-type monsters only found in older GBA games) and TCG prints of the same cards (like we got from time to time in Speed Duels and Astral Packs) (these cards would only appeal to collectors and Yugiboomers, but there I think there is a sizable market of both, as I fall into both).

My 3 Yu-gi-oh wishes 1. I wish for Augmented Reality dueling to officially become a thing where general consumers of the card game can duel one another in Augmented Reality. For example, it would be cool to have my phone on my wrist like a Duel Disk and wear the AR glasses to see the cards to duel because it's one of my dreams to duel like in the anime in Augmented Reality which i hope Konami's recently announced game called Solid Vision Experiment allows duelists to duel in AR mode as well. 2. I wish for Konami to get rid of Link monsters and Pendulum Monsters or at least create a format where those types of monsters aren't allowed in decks because those two types of monster summons made the card game more confusing, complicated, and less fun at least for me. 3. I wish to see at least one female duelist be a YCS champion at least once.

The meta quest 3 is just the better choice for vr gaming. You dont need a ps xbox, or pc to play the games, it is its own standalone console essentially.

So many live service games are glorified gift shops in an amusement park with a single ride. Diablo 4 is a glorified gift shop attached to the a single Diablo themed ride. You are supposed to log on, enjoy the ride for an hour, and buy something on your way out.

The sad thing about the tiktok bill is that upon being contacted by the people they are elected to REPRESENT to vote "No" on the bill, many of the representatives said it made them vote "Yes" in the voting for the bill. People said, "Hey represent us," and they said, "I dont like that you want me to do my job, I will now vote against your interest." There is plenty of quality content on Tiktok, I have hundreds of food recipes saved on tiktok. There's great content on w.e media sharing site you visit but just like complaint about anything, the loudest and most annoying things are always the ones that make the news cos theyre engaging content.

Onlyfans too. I just want to be clear, I have ZERO issues with adult related content so long as it is legal and ethical, but people forget that Onlyfans was created as an educational workshop like site and NOT an adult content related one. Really does my head in when people who engage in faux outrage try and denigrate Onlyfans and the content surrounding them- which the biggest player is of the adult variety.

I only recently got into Yu-Gi-Oh after watching Duel Monsters when I was a kid. Legendary Decks 2 rerelease is for me. It went for around $60-$70 online before this release. Now I have it for $30. And I got Eternal Souls for my filthy casual Dark Magician deck. Just wanted to let you know that even the people that want Legendary Decks 2 tune into the Pod of Greed. 😁

@1:20:36 What I think is so funny about the PS portal is, that you can do the same setup(stream PS5 games over wifi) on your smart phone with the PlayStation remote play app and a Bluetooth controller(like a ps5/ps4 controller). But it’s free AND you can actually use your cell phone data to play anywhere. I recently was at my sisters house and played some Spider-Man 2 from my ps5 at home. All at no cost to me except bringing my controller along. If you bought one of those controllers that snaps to your phone you could have the SAME setup as the PS portal for around $100 and using most of the stuff you already own. It’s crazy how much Sony is milking peoples wallets with that product.

My guess as to why they’re doing the player exclusive Worlds event is that it’s the same reason why the OCG gets really cool sets and non card products constantly while the TCG doesn’t: Konami believes Japan has the market for it, while Europe and the U.S. don’t. Obviously it’s not true given the attendance rate at YCSs and the recent controversy about European Speed Duels but for some reason it seems like Konami just doesn’t wanna give the same love to TCG that they give OCG and my guess is they believe it’s not profitable enough when it clearly would be Also MBT doing his own event in Seattle the same weekend has strong Tanacon during the weekend of Vidcon energy. Fingers crossed MBT does his event better 😅🤞🏻 I’m personally conflicted about the TikTok thing. Even though I don’t use it I’m of the mindset of let people enjoy what they want. But at the same time this “clout economy” is causing people to do the stupidest, most annoying things just for the attention

They look at master duel spending as well, eu only spend around less than 4% revenue from master duel, you guys generally don't spend money for your hobbies.

Konami's "strategy" for the tcg is the most ass backwards thing ever. They leave so much growth and money on the table for this game. I still love it to death but it sucks it's being managed like this.

In regards to the store owners buying out the costco stock, its not so much that they did it, but rather that they arrogantly bragged about it on social media. Free market allowed them to, but bragging about it was pretty scuzzy.

my three yugioh wishes would be 1. MORE PROPHECY SUPPORT!! Time for them to go back to being an XYZ based deck and for Spellbook of Miracles to get its time to shine! 2. STOP letting Konami lore designers make Civil war based archetypes where the hero and villain work inside the same deck... (Branded/Despia, Diabellstars, Six Samurai, Kozmo, etc) 3. Archetype lock a lot of cards.

The issue is PSVR2 can’t play PSVR games and can only play games for the PSVR2. Dropping that limitation and allowing pc games would help but the limitation was garbage on release with bad games at launch with nothing of importance releasing since.

Regarding a TikTok ban, i have mixed feelings: -I kinda worry about "brain rot" (for people of ALL ages), but that's a good point about the other short-form content still being a thing anyway so it may not make much difference. -If ANYONE is using TikTok to meddle in US elections or national security in any way, then I'd say it's definitely important to address it as quickly as possible (tho i wish there was a less disruptive way). -it'd also take people's livelihood away in some cases (if that's all they use for their business), so that's never good

I'd support the Tiktok "ban" if it actually applied to fighting propaganda and data-collectuon _generally,_ and wasn't just being imperialistic on tech. As is, it comes off as xenophobic in a neo-Cold War sense, as opposed to _actually_ working to solve the societal problems posed by the present digital landscape.

It's worrying that Konami doesn't want to sped money on the big events that ive people a reason to buy expensive cars. Also that Konami doesn't want to advertise Yugioh to a new generation. I really hope we don't see this game become a Japan-only one because Konami doesn't want to take a chance on something new instead of wringing he last but of money out of DM=era fans.

The tcg is just guaranteed to fumble the bag these days huh? worlds, set quality, venue, ect. there are so many solutions that they could apply that i'm absolutely confused how they can fail this badly. but as for my 3 wishes: 1) Konami improves their venues for alternate formats, not just time wizard, but other formats with effort placed into them. Imagine konami sanctioned 4+ player duels, or a curated list format for less powerful decks. they could put more emphasis on their "rental" formats, where they have pre constructed decks of similar power levels, that entrants receive at random. this alone would be a massive boon to the cardgame/event scenes, as players and spectators would all 2) Fix their products. not just the shortprints, but the entire rarity distribution, and the absolute overflow of product that they keep pumping out regardless of set quality. just dial back the releases a bit to make their releases easier to follow and better to actually purchase product. 3) hire me onto the squad, because there are many things about the game as a whole, that actual players of the game need to be on their crew to address.

I really think it's time Yu-Gi-Oh players learn from their Magic The Gathering siblings. If WotC made MTGs biggest event of the year completely closed off to the public, players or someone 3rd party would put on their own public event to run opposite of the official one. It's really time for Yu-Gi-Oh players to stop being so dependent on Konami approved and Konami ran things. Make a fan format, make your own events. if Konami won't do something, the people that love the game should. An 3rd party ran Yu-Gi-Oh event would arguably be more fun anyways (if ran by someone competent). Edit: As Always, Based MBT

I'm saying make this a huge convention with all the events and side events that Konami doesn't do enough or would never do. And hell, do a tournament that has an actual money prize for once.

This has been tried before, ARG, and PPG, both said konami wasn't doing enough and hosted their own tournament with prizing, ARG even doing their own banlist due to fact yugioh was in a near tier 0 format with Nekroz, people complained about how ARG ran the events and that there self imposed ban list went to far or didn't do enough, and they updated between each event, both ARG and PPG no longer host their own events, because it's expensive to rent out a facility, especially as that must be done months in advance, and then how much do you charge for entry, it's gotta be enough to clear renting out the venue, as well as paying staff/Judges/ and the prize pool, all that's a factor and is expensive, not something I would see players banding together and dumping money into a pool hoping someone manages it properly, when 2 individual organizations can't keep supporting them, the regular player base won't either

@SageComments if you look at the ARG banlists they hit Nekroz, but it was still the best deck for the 1st tournament, then the first update to the list took 2 cards in the deck and swapped them, 1 card went from 3 to 1, and another went from 1 to 3, and it was still the best deck, but it just wasn't as consistent, so even a group of people that had the players in mind, didn't get their own banlist right, and it became a swing of over corrections until konamis official banlist ultimately hit Nekroz, so people went back to official tournaments

I actually think the reason they are doing a "private" worlds event (mind you I assume there will still be crowds of content creators and dedicated fans, etc,) is because the yu gi oh popularity has increased significantly during the last 5 years and if they were to open it to everyone they are in risk of having another event from their first one that caused a riot!! You guys mentioned it last week or something but I feel like that is the reason, oh and the California convention center probably costs WAYYY more. CALIII BABYYYYY BD

I think there's no way the physical card game goes away and the online game stays viable. Master duel doesn't and never will make the amount of money paper yugioh makes. If they transitioned to online only they'd need to monetize it in an unfriendly way or they'd go out of business.
