Nice to see you're making these sorts of videos again. I'm kayaking with the gopro 6 and gotta say the 9 is tempting ... but hey, all new gopros are ;-)

Awesome to hear! The only big difference is that if you shoot slow mo a lot, the res is WAY better now. 240 p in full HD! I probably forgot to mention that. I wish I could show the full res images here better. RU-vid compression really messes it up, at least if you're looking at clarity.

The max lens mod will fix the cropping in issue you’re having and it’ll still keep the horizon level with super view

Groovy, nice honest review. I'm a bit afraid to get another GoPro, have had various models over the years, always ended up disappointed much sooner than expected in my experience.

What were you disappointed by in particular? Audio? I've been quite pleased with the gopros, but you do have to treat them like an action cam.

@@UntamedScience Actually no, I was just disappointed in the battery life and the connectivity issues I had in 2015, back then straight off the bat my Hero 4 would be at 75% battery level straight after charging any of the batteries I had with wifi off. With Wifi on, I sometimes had to waste one battery just to configure the camera wirelessly and then swap out the battery for recording. I also had endless connection issues which are why I would end up losing a battery charge just trying to connect with my phone. Admittedly things are better now with firmware updates and better web apps using that old camera but out on location in 2015, it was enough to make me not want to use it.

I think it will. I really wanted to test it out. I'm a tad worried that with the water drops it won't work so well kayaking. I it wasn't wet, I think it would be amazing! - R

oh, and by the way, do you have any tips on attaching a gopro mount to the front of a kayak? I have a plastic kayak and the plastic is kinda greasy, I can't get the gopro sticky pads to stay put. And drilling a hole is not something I want to do ...

Um, I'm not sure why yours isn't mounting well. I have multiple plastic kayaks too and I've put mounts on the front of all of them. One tip I'd say is 1) scuff up the surface a bit. 2) stick a gopro mount on it and let it dry for 24 hours. They're made of amazing "glue" but you have to let it cure a bit.

@@UntamedScience @StoneAgeMan Thanks for the tips. I'll sand the area a bit rough and stick on a gopro mount ... and since it's getting wet and cold in western norway I'll bring the kayak into the living room to ensure a dry and warm surface. Looking forward to more great content from you guys!!!

WW kayaking is really hard to get dynamic footage of when self shooting. The results of your 120fps look good, but what I'm really looking forward to is the max lens mod. Okay, it'll be restricted to 60p max, but it will give a really wide angle with no fisheye effect, and perfect stabilisation. For lens droplets on the Max lens mod, try this getxclear.com/collections/compatible-with-hero-9/products/pro-repel-booster-liquid?variant=32711721910358 I've recently taken to playing with 360 for POV simply because of the wide angle I can get as well as more dynamic editing opportunities. Here's a test I did for a review of the ONE R.
